lilt I hope the wee one is getting better soon. Well done on the epic bakathon and I hope your MIL enjoys her birthday tomorrow.

fmess wishing you a better day tomorrow. Well done on the extra debt payment.

One item sold in the end. And managed a quick half hour declutter of the spice cabinet and other bits in the kitchen. Now off to bed with a book for some me-time.

    See you tomorrow

Lilt - hope little one gets well soon and hope mil enjoys her visit.

Just a quick visit before I go to bed, not a sfd as I needed chippings to clean the gp out so got a couple of other things but forgot my face cream!!! I really should read my list so I will see if I can go the next couple of days before I get it.

Check in tomorrow with new figures.

Spent from my treat money on desperately needed chocolate yesterday when I was flagging. :o:o:o

Household over budget so will need to take that from groceries or toiletries. Have gotten toothpaste, conditioner which I have actually zero left in the house for the first time in years :rotfl: and cotton buds. Can't help that I have done a months worth of very dirty washing in 4 days. :( wasn't as bad as I thought anyway! :) xx

Hey everyone, hugs to all those who are poorly or have poorly mini turtles, congrats WelshKitty on your assessment, and londongirl your new job sounds great with lots of potential savings once you get going! Great to hear of your good test results too mothernerd. Well done everyone paying off their debts, car sharing and sticking to targets too!

Good SFD here, I stuck to my plan, biked to work, I count free lunch days as LTW as it is not shop/cafe bought which is the main thing I think. Then straight on to the Buddhist centre for free dinner and meditation. I think I probably scraped my 5-a-day, just slathered on some moisturiser to pamper, and will do my physio before bed.

I typically find the 5-a-day hard as I don't snack on fruit naturally, but have recently started putting sultanas in my porridge every morning (ashamed to say I used to add Cadbury buttons! :o) and lunch is usually veg soup. So a glass of juice and at least one more veg at tea time and I'm sorted now! All thanks to NST and mothernerd's challenge last month. :T

  • A really good friend wants us to go on holidays with them, and i kept saying how nice it would be despite the fact i cant actually afford it! Well anyway, I've just text her to say that I'm trying to pay off my debt and booking a holiday would make me more in debt at the moment and that basically unless i sort it i'll always be in the same position of not being able to afford anything unless i Used a credit card or overdraft.
I've never told her this before... And she's not yet replied! Surely a good friend wont judge me?? We shall see!!!

Has anyone been in this position??
Still here..... but working on that!

I think a good friend would acknowledge your honesty and ambition to deal with your debt first and then look fwd to holiday with you after this is sorted. Do you know what financial position she is in?

I definitely think you made the right decision.

  • Thanks Thriftylass, she has about 20k in savings and no mortgage as her parents bought her house! I think she would probably find it harder to understand as she earns less than we do. She's already booked 3 hols this year.
I'm really happy with my life at the moment and the way things are going so that's the main thing, feeling really positve! :) it's worth missing out this year for a better life from then on for my family. Plus the best things in life are definitely free!

That got me thinking. If I had no mortgage or childcare to pay I'd have 20k saved in 12 months. With just no mortgage in 28 month. One can dream ;)

You'r right think positive and remember as you said you do it to better your family. Only 18 months to go. Next year you'll be debt free.

little skint dragon, I am sure your friend will understand. Perhaps she is just taking a while to understand it. If she has never had any debt then it might be difficult to figure out how someone can be in debt. If you know what I mean.
    :undecided

Today was going to be another spend-free day but I am sending off a cheque so I guess it isn't.
We are being naughty but it is worth it to us. We are putting down a deposit for two nights away next April (yep, 2016).
It's important to us as we are booking a cottage in the grounds of our wedding venue and we are taking both sets of parents to see the hall.
I know it's money that I am not paying off the debt but I wanted to get it booked so we definitely have the place.
    :o

Other than that, there won't be any other spends today. We are also going walking again... not as far today I imagine but every little helps as they say.
    :)

Hope everyone is doing okay. Keep Marching on Turtleys.
    Hugs.
