Just breathe WaS.. think happy duvet thoughts! The builders will sort themselves out. They may run around and make a lot of noise (probably will), but you can just leave them to it. Once they've got one room done you can hole up in there xx.
  • (((((WaS)))))

You'll be fine. Just shut yourself in one of the rooms they are not in :)

Imagine someone holding forth on biology whose only knowledge of the subject is the Book of British Birds, and you have a rough idea of what it feels like to read Richard Dawkins on theology: Terry Eagleton
  • I've just had confirmed that even nice things can cause stress.

Last week, I had some really unexpected news. It was also really good news, and it will make a real difference to decisions I have to make.

However, for the rest of the day I just sat and cried. It's because it was so unexpected and had come at just the right time. My emotions were all over the place. I didn't go into 'numb' mode, just complete shock. I now know the real meaning of the word 'gobsmacked'.

I'm sorry I can't be more specific, but it also involves other people, so would not be right.

But, just to re-iterate, even good news can be traumatic.

(FYI, it is NOT that I am going to be a Grandma :) ).

<whispers> Men are here. Not window men, door mending men! Apparently a sticky strip is missing from the top of our front door that prevents smoke escaping. They are going to fix it and make the door easier to open. WaSp is out and I am in OTT bubbly mode over-compensating all over the place, I probably seem completely drunk actually. All I need now is the window people turning up at the same time. I suppose it would look weird to disappear under a blanket? There is still hammering in the hallway and the fire alarm is going off every two minutes. I feel like I am on a building site, what's happening?! Panic panic panic.

Aw, congratulations on your good news SDW! I find any extreme of emotion can be overwhelming sometimes.

What came first, the music or the misery?
Did I listen to pop music because I was miserable? Or was I miserable because I listened to pop music?
  • A head just popped up outside of the window and now someone is doing something to the brickwork outside that involves drilling! Door men are back shortly with errr door stuff and window men are still to arrive.

I have 3 blankets on my lap, they are gradually creeping higher.

Sit under the blanket if you need to, WaS.

Personally, I like having colourful characters in my life.
