Of course, I forgot Gitdog will oblige! It's like a strange version of the duvet fort, everyone dive into WaS's pocket! There will be lots of photo's! I have to learn to use the camera because Wasp wants photo's of him holding the birds, too. He is as excited as me!
I love elephants, Pyxis! I would love to meet one and it is possible but it's very expensive. Perhaps I should save for it!Until one has loved an animal a part of one's soul remains unawakened - Anatole France

Nononononononono! Georgie! You're very welcome! We were all new once, too!
If you have time, I recommend you read through the original thread.
I'm going to make WaS blush, now!
Do you know, WaS's original username was Worried and Scared? Then later on, the sun started shining, so she changed it to Waves and Smiles! While things were getting better for her, she was helping all of us, and countless other lurkers, by being really honest and open about her troubles.
ive read some of the original thread, but it's over 500 pages long! You guys can't half talk!
Dunno about us being your Golden Lights, WaS, I reckon you're ours!GG, you are totally one of our slightly dysfunctional family! I haven't been here that long....I just don't shut up lol. I joined in a conversation about lovely old-fashioned chemists and haven't left (or shut up) since.
I can be a long lost cousin or something! :rotfl: I love old fashioned chemists btw! I love finding things/using things that have been around for years which are proven to work.Waves_and_Smiles wrote: »Georgie, I consider you my friend now. You are part of our team, as valuable as anyone here. you are stuck with us!
Well, if I'm stuck with you, you're all stuck with me!:rotfl:
Ok, I am blushing, Pyxis! Thank you so much! I probably need to read the original thread myself, I would like to see how much has improved because I know it has (thanks to everyone here!). I am so glad to hear my honesty has helped people though, I have always been like this and my psychiatrists have told me it is what has saved me. I am so open that they know exactly how to treat me, I am very much a person who wears their heart on their sleeve. I don't know how to be any other way!
Awww thanks guys! All your lovely comments mean a lot! I guess I'm just feeling abit down atm.
it's a combination of remembering the good times with my Dad (which obviously is a good thing) and then remembering his last week, and how hard it was and how I think I failed him. At the moment I'm just finding those thoughts hard to shift.
My Mam mentioned that she wants my Dad's ashes to be scattered soon, and so do I. It's going to be so hard of course, but it needs to be done and then he is where he wanted to be. It was originally just going to be family, but now a few other people have invited themselves. My Mam is too polite to tell them they can't and thinks it's nice they want to, and that my Dad would be pleased. But she's also feeling pressured by it. I've told her that if she really doesn't want them there then I'll tell them. One thing I'm not afraid of is speaking up if needs be!0 -
Dysfuntional pets time. Just took Gitdog out to a new place as part of trying to hammer some sense into his pea brain, and found yet another behavioural trigger. The sound of metal gates opening and closing sent him hurling himself at the end of the lead howling and crying. Lots of spectators, which is always nice - the wedding party were particularly appreciative of him spoiling their video with his racket.
I need a drink. All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.
Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.0 -
Oh poor Elsien! How you suffer at the paws of Gitdog! :rotfl:
He reminds me of Santa's Little Helper in the Simpsons. A confounded nuisance, but what can you do? Just melt at his specialneedsness!(I just lurve spiders!)

Elsien, many years ago one of my good friends got married. Another of our friends was a bridesmaid, I wasn't (for various boring reasons). When we got to the reception, bridesmaid friend came to my room with me while I dropped my bags off. We then got a phone call saying they were about to do photos and to hurry up. We ran out into the grounds, saw the group lining up and joined them. As the group rearranged for different pics we realised there were other bridesmaids there....and they had different dresses! That's right...there was another wedding on that day and we were with the wrong group :rotfl:
We still laugh about the couple looking at their photos and trying to work out where the rogue bridesmaid came from0 -
Etiquette repost...............:starmod:......................................................................:starmod:.....................
Here is the suggested THREAD ETIQUETTE. By following this etiquette, all posters, whether new or existing, will feel safe, unpressured and respected..
- This is a thread for support. We have discovered some good friends on here, but we promise always to welcome and include new people, and not to be cliquey.
- People may make suggestions to help each other, and might even ask if the suggestions were helpful or have been carried out, but we'll really try not to nag each other or put too much pressure on.
- The normal board rules about sexism, racism, homophobia etc. apply, but if we are careful we should be able to discuss almost anything without breaching board rules - so far we have discussed subjects ranging from child abuse to incontinence!
-If someone thinks that too much pressure is being applied, they can post the trigger word PENGUIN and flag up the fact that they believe there's a potential for someone feeling too nagged to do something. ANYONE could post PENGUIN if they felt there was a danger that suggestions were being enforced too much.
Similarly, if they want to discuss something that might be a trigger for some people, then posting PENGUIN would be a warning that what follows in the whiteout might be a trigger.
- So, if you think something might be a PENGUIN, please post something like the green bit which follows.
"I would like to discuss something to do with [insert subject here], but I am concerned that this might be a trigger for some people. Is everyone OK if I post about that?"
Then, when you post, repost the word PENGUIN above the discussion. Then post the penguiny bit in white! And the phrase END OF PENGUIN when you have finished.
It will look like this. You will be able to see the white text if you highlight it or if you quote it, (so please don't 'quote' a post containing a penguin onto the thread!)
(Harmless example follows here):-
PENGUIN
This is a penguin. A nasty, crotch biting penguin (CBP).
It isn't really! So you can look.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ozGTv0hxhpc[/url]
END OF PENGUIN
(NB on a tenth-page repost of the etiquette, you can see these penguiny words because they are white against the green 'quote' background. On a normal post, they will be white against white, and so won't be seen on the thread.)
IMPORTANT: It has been ascertained that some posters to this thread have found that there are certain subjects which act as triggers, precipitating a worsening of their condition.
To protect these posters, you are respectfully requested NOT to discuss these subjects on this thread:-
Religion. (Please note: it is recognised that everyone is entitled to their beliefs, and we respect those beliefs. It is only because of the fact that religion does act as a trigger for some posters, that we exclude it from discussion.)
N.B. Please don't even mention the name of the religion.
The afterlife. The reason for this is explained in this thread by one poster, and there will be others for whom this is a trigger.
We ask and thank you for your co-operation in this matter.
.........:starmod:.....................................................................:starmod:................
It should be pointed out that if anyone is feeling very distressed or close to a crisis, they do not have to worry about what they are posting, or whether it is a penguin for someone else or not. In a crisis situation, just post! We wouldn't want anyone to feel that they couldn't ask for help in case it's a penguin! The penguin thing only applies to a general discussion situation.
- More suggestions please.............We stress that we are suggesting that we AGREE some Thread Etiquette to HELP people who might feel anxious about posting, we are not trying to IMPOSE rules, just relating this to facilitating groups, so that people feel safe and able to participate as fully as they can.
...............Thread Motto...............

Aw, sorry you are feeling down Georgie. Of course you miss your dad. I agree your mum should do what feels right to her, your dad wouldn't want her to feel pressured.

Goof luck with the trip WaS, sounds very exciting!
Also apparently today is World Penguin day which seems apt for our thread (even though the penguins here can be crotch biting ones!) Here's a non crotch biting oneThis is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -

tea, that must mean you have had your avatar for a year! xxxEx board guide. Signature now changed (if you know, you know).0 -
Just been looking on Amazon (DH got £130 worth of vouchers from work for some reason and said we could halve them!) and saw that deal you got WaS....well done on getting a bargain!
Isn't it amazing, when you have the money/vouchers there to spend you don't know what to buy! You don't just want to buy something for the sake of it, but you just want to spend them! :rotfl: I can't think of anything I want/need right now. :undecided0
