I have been clothes shopping. I hate clothes shopping, especially on a Saturday. Didn't get very far before shopping centre rage kicked in.
I refuse to pay £25 for a top for work. I have seem to have shrunk so nothing fitted. And what is it with blasted polyester tops when it's hot and you're sweating like a pig?

Went out for tops, came back with jeans I don't need, but they were a "bargain."
My sensible head is now reminding me things are only a bargain if you actually need them.
    Bah humbug.
I'm now going to head into the garden to recover from overcrowded shops.

I only buy clothes from my local barnardos. 99p an item. I hate trying clothes on and at that price no need

Yes, Elsien, I get all my tops from charity shops! I usually pay from £1.99 to £4.50 for a top, depending on the style and whether it is a High Street label or not.

It means I can get loads!

I would really resent paying £25 for a flimsy bit of fabric now!

You do have to look in several shops. Some days I might not find anything in half a dozen charity shops, and other days, I can find three things in one shop!
Friends are always saying " I like your top" and groan when I reply "Charity shop!" with a smug look on my face!

  • One of the good points about hardly going out is I don;t need many clothes. I used to buy from charity shops all of the time, now I order from ebay mostly which is the second cheapest way. I do have a couple of items ordered from supermarkets, they aren't made to last long but as I rarely wear going out clothes they last me for years.

I have confirmed my meet the birds of prey experience, 5th May! I am even more excited now you have told me about it Pyxis! They told me that I can sit down to handle the birds and there are benches around the tour area so I can sit when I start to hurt. It's at 9am in the morning, the farm opens at 10am although I will have an all day ticket if I want to wander around once they are open. I was very MSE because this was a deal on Amazon Local and only cost me £22 for two people. Yes, WaSp gets to meet the birds too, which he is actually excited about!

It sounds great WaS! You'll probably laugh at this but I am genuinely jealous of your social life :D
  • Hahahahahaha! awwww, tea! I hardly leave my flat but when I do I try to make it count! I have decided that next year I will start to try more mundane things like small shopping trips (which are actually harder for me), but this year is about things I really want to do to encourage myself. This invariably involves animals of some sort! This is helped a lot by how kind people are at the places I visit. Without exception they have made it possible for me by allowing me to visit at times when there aren't people around. Everyone has been totally understanding of my difficulties and it is very humbling.

Yes, WaS! It was great standing with my arm outstretched and having a beautiful bird land on it! And then sending it off again! Wonderful!

Have you been able to go round the block sans blanket again WaS?

  • Funnily enough, that is planned for tomorrow Pyxis! I chose a Sunday because it is quieter and I want to try to go out during the afternoon rather than sneaking out early in the morning. I am half looking forward to it and half terrified!

When I meet the birds I am leaving the blanket in the car! On my other trips Wasp has carried it so I can just cover my body and tuck it under my chin when I stop to rest but this time I want to get through the full hour without it. There will only be staff there so hopefully it's possible without freaking me out too much!
