It's the only place I've ever been where they come in the day. I used to work in a different office on the same site (same business) and that was always out of office hours. Have no idea why we randomly get one during the day (and for most of the day!)

Unfortunately, subtlety doesn't seem to work on her. Before now she's started hoovering when I've been on a conference call (on loudspeaker).

This doesn't sound right at all! Hoovering while you're working?

I wonder if she's skiving in some way?

In any event, if she's disturbing you, and doesn't respond to subtlety, is there a supervisor you could ask?

Might have to if she carries on. Would feel bad as it's not as if there's anyone else I could blame it on lol... but she has brought it on herself by being SO ANNOYING :rotfl:.

Tell you what, why not have one last attempt at getting through to her, be blunt, (in a nice way, but firm), and actually tell her that if she doesn't let you get on with your work, you will have to speak to someone?
That way you're being up front and laying things on the line, so she can't then accuse you of being underhand.

Just a thought, is she perhaps a special needs employee? (Sorry, don't quite know how best to put it.) Does your firm take on challenged employees? If so, there's a chance that might be why she acts a little oddly and doesn't seem to understand the problem. Just a thought.

I'd tell the supervisor Tea and be done with it! If I was feeling really mean, I'd make a note of every job she does and how long it does to show what a waste of time it is to have her there all day! :p My workplace has cleaners all day and extras in the evening but the daytime ones just keep on top of the kitchens etc making sure that it doesn't get too disgusting, they don't really get in the way. In my old office the cleaner was a right skiver and would come into the office for a chat and would hoover round us, it was so annoying! If she was hoovering and my phone rang I would make a point of asking her to stop so I could answer the call! :p
Overcome the notion that you must be ordinary. It robs you of the chance to be extraordinary!

I have wondered that Pyxis. Am worried that this is coming across wrong but whenever I've spoken to her there's nothing to indicate that (although I realise of course that there are all sorts of issues not always visible to others). This is partly why I haven't said anything official so far, I'd hate to get her in trouble if she genuinely does struggle with boundaries etc.

But tbh most of the time I reckon she's just swinging the lead!

Oh well.... will take some deep breaths and rise above it all lol.
  • LiR - I hope your cats are giving you some peace & waiting patiently now.

Hope you feel better soon pyxis & a day in bed makes you feel up to your workshops.

Tea - I would ask if she could come back later, giving a time if necessary, but failing that talking to a supervisor.

Oldestgnome - your travels sound fantastic & beneficial, 3 stone is amazing.

A little update from me - i have been to the gp & thankfully she was lovely, just as well really as I fell apart & couldn't really speak. I have some medication & have to go back next week to discuss further, so fingers crossed. Feeling exhausted & numb, but I have to push through for LO.

Hugs to those who need them.

Glad your GP visit went well Spider.

My office is hotter than the equator during the height of summer today and I just want to go home and cuddle dumbass dog and DH. In pain again. Why does my face hate me?
