That's a thought Solar. From what I have heard of the workman they are fine, just going about their daily job and not aware that they are upsetting anyone. They may not realise how bad the sound-proofing is in this block, if the man upstairs turns a tap on we can hear it so any noise outside sounds as if it is the flat. This of course makes me totally paranoid to speak because if I can hear them, they can hear me! WaSp's headphones are a good idea, they are noise cancelling so may work better than earplugs. Thank you for the suggestion, I will give them a try.
Talking of the man upstairs he is yelling at the poor dog again. It doesn't like the noise so is barking, I know how it feels. I am firmly on the doggies side! (but I wish it would protest a little more quietly).Until one has loved an animal a part of one's soul remains unawakened - Anatole France

This may well be a stupid suggestion for many reasons, if so please just ignore
Could you go with WaSp to your MILs for the day? Maybe hide out at hers where it's a bit quieter.0 -
We could if we had a car, tea. This is the worse timing ever because the car is having surgery today (nothing fatal, just a random hole apparently that needs welding) so we are both stuck here until the garage calls. For once, I would opt to go out for a while rather than sit here, typical that when I want to I can't!Until one has loved an animal a part of one's soul remains unawakened - Anatole France

Oh of course, I'd forgotten about the car. Never rains but it pours hey?!0

I know i said morning all earlier - in fact that was midday for me & thanks to my recent insomnia i appear to have a upside down body clock
Totally random i know, but in the interest of sharingWhat came first, the music or the misery?
Did I listen to pop music because I was miserable? Or was I miserable because I listened to pop music?0 -
WaS, nobody hates you. We're Team WaS! We should get tshirts.
Am so late for work. Had to go and get more medication - the pharmacy are poor and never have enough meds so I needed to get the ones owed from last time and I thought I'd quickly run into the supermarket for lunch and a drink as my face hurts and I need painkillers. Should have been quick but only 2 tills were open and the cashier was having a horrible day and broke the till so we all had to move to a new one and then she was super slow and then, I stupidly handed her a voucher and she didn't know what to do with it, so she had to call a supervisor and I ended up apologising to the whole queue. It ended up taking 40 minutes!
On top of that, I think the pump has gone on our boiler (not covered) and the dog isn't well - I think he has toothache and dental is not covered by our insurance. I wish I hadn't booked that stupid weekend away!Eu não sou uma tartaruga. Eu sou um codigopombo.0 -

So.
After failing to book a adult education course, finding no jobs to apply for and feeling utterly miserable, I went to bed for a short while and woke up at 7pm.
I went shopping, bought complete cr*p and binged. I caught up with a couple of series on line, ate the total cr*p I bought earlier and ended up feeling sick and giddy at around 5am.
Went to lie down on the bed, fully clothed, with the electric heater still heating the bathroom and woke up at 10am.
I have washed and prepared for bed and need to prepare for another night shift tonight.
By tomorrow morning, I'll have tomorrow night, Thursday and Friday off and then I'm back on my normal shift rotation on Saturday.
I need help. Don't know what I'm doing, but doing it anyway... :huh:0 -
Oh dear, code I hope the day improves from here on and that poor dumbass dog feels better soon.
There is a man on a ladder right outside my living room window replacing the guttering. I am determinately not looking at him, if I can't see him he isn't there. The landlady has also turned up with two men with clipboards so may knock at any moment. As I missed dinner last night I am considering taking a sandwich to the bathroom to eat, I can't eat here with a man at the window! The only problem with this is I also can't stand up with a man at the window. I am typing, blinking and breathing but the rest of me is very still under a blanket.Until one has loved an animal a part of one's soul remains unawakened - Anatole France

Daft question, but can't you eat your sandwich under the blanket where no-one can see you. Or alternatively, get Wasp to draw the curtains or drape a sheet over the window? All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.
Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.0
