If you are intending to claim pre-2005 via the AI Scheme, delay sending off your claim form as the signing the claim form limits your rights to claim from 2005 and releases those liable to for anything before that date. (See paragraph two in Section D)0

Thank you Jon G - so - if I phoned Sentinel do you think they would be able or willing to tell me what year I started i.e. if it was before 2008?0

Hello
I have received one of these letters but I don't remember having sentinel protection, can I still claim without memory of which card or account it was attached to?0 -
I may be seeming naive but is this a situation where you do 2 separate claims? -
1. Prior 2005 e.g. if I phone Barclaycard - could they inform me do you think? Please also see Post 62.
(Although I haven't used my card - I have never closed the account.)
2. After 2005 - then that is what I shall be claiming before March 2016.
Thoughts appreciated.0 -

i'd really like to know the answer to this also, i'm happy to research back on my cards to find out which of my cards had Sentinal but the claims form doesn't seem to even ask for that info??!0 -
Is this Claim simple??? Do any of us know what we are doing? If the answers are on the main site to my question, in posting 85, can someone point me to it. Thank you
What I am trying to say is should I phone Barclaycard as I guess I could have had it in 2005 - would they tell me?
If after 2005 is it another Claim? See posting 82 from John.0 -
I wrote to Barclaycard to ask for redress for the period I had a Sentinel policy with them up to 2005. I sent the letter on 19 August, and received a letter on 26 August offering me my premiums back plus 8% simple interest (same deal as the AI scheme post-2005). Easy peasy. Good on you, Barclaycard! Now I will send off my AI form for the post-2005 redress.
For those people getting their knickers in a twist over which of Martin's templates to use, I wrote a generic sentence covering both options which worked for me: "I bought the Sentinel Gold policy to cover fraudulent transactions on my Barclaycard, when in fact this would have been covered by Barclaycard anyway."0 -
I had my protection with barclaycqrd from jan 1998 to January 2013 ( 15 years). Will it be worth dealing with barclaycqrd direct or is it only a1 she me that can act on my behalf ?0

Hi All
I have just received an AI Scheme claim form.
It asks for my reasons to be considered for compensation, can someone help me word my claim ?
At the time I naively took this cover on, a bank member of staff advised me that the cover was worthwhile, but never explained fully the benefits or asked if I was already covered for any of the benefits by any other insurance policies I had, such as holiday insurance, house insurance.
I always take out high quality cover due to the value of items I take away from home.
At no time during subsequent automatic renewal of the policy did Sentinel inform me of the benefits or suitability of the product for my needs.
What text do you think I should be putting in "reasons to be considered for compensation"0 -
Hi
Hope this helps everyone but I too was confused as to which product I had so firstly I rang Sentinal who said my product was so old (bought in 2005) they didn't have that level of detail so suggested in my reply that I write something that covers both circumstances.
Secondly I gave Barclaycard a call (0800 096 6580) just to see if they had any idea about the product (they don't have these details) but turned out I had bought the product in 2003 and paid for it for 2 years so they raised a case for that to be looked into - so hopefully some additional compensation! I would say it's worth giving the place where you got your card from originally to see if you did take it out before 2005.
