I have had sentinel gold for a few years though cancelled it a couple of years ago. I have my forms to claim but I am confused as to which statement of the two Martin gives as examples, I should use? I was told it was good to have the sentinel protection as it covered you for stolen cards, fraud etc. I have no idea what I was covered for in a monetary sense - over 100,000 GBP under 5,000 GBP which statement should I use please????
  • Hi i also would like to know what template to use on my claim form over 100.000 or under 5000 if anyone could help please
  • I had credit card Sentinel for several years but don't have any paperwork prior to 2009 - when I cancelled it for the very reason that the compensation is being offered (i.e. they were duplicating the cover offered by the banks).

I can't remember who offered me the sentinel card protection in the first place; I THINK it was Debenhams when I had one of their store cards but as I could add lots of cards to my cover I eventually moved the annual cost to my Halifax credit card. (This is the primary card shown on my last Sentinel statement.)

I rang Sentinel to ask if they have any details to help me to decide to whom I should make my claim for compensation prior to 2005. The chap on the other end of the phone said that they wouldn't be able to provide this information and added that prior to 2005 the banks weren't offering the same cover provided by Sentinel so there was no duplication of their services and hence no entitlement to any compensation prior to 2005.

Is this true? And if so why are we being encouraged to make a claim for the mis-selling of this card insurance prior to 2005?
  • It would be nice if MSE could answer the various questions about the £5k/£10k options. I'm sure we would all have wanted to be covered for our losses both before AND after our cards were lost/stolen but this doesn't seem to be an option. why not, please?

Hi I'am with 'Sentinel' & have been for years through choice. They were very useful on 2 occasions when cards were lost & stolen on another occasion cancelling all cards immediately. One cancelling everything so quick was obviously useful.
I have also received letters to claim. If you do claim can you rejoin at a later date?

Is there an alternative to Sentinel? Is there anything that provides just a phone call for cancelling all cards at once in an emergency?

    Thx

Another here who doesn't know which template to use. My wife received the letter and claim form, but she doesn't remember who she had the cover with, or for what, and there doesn't appear to be any way of finding out.

Give them a call on the phone number on the letter and quote your claim number, they'll give you the details. I contacted them to find out what period I had the protection and for what amount. They were very helpful.

Had the same problem - I called them up on the number on the letter and gave my claim number, they told me how much.

one thing I would be interested in knowing - how long roughly is the turnaround? Assuming you've sent the form off which you sign and write the statement on, when (roughly) can you expect payment?
  • Any help would be appreciated - I have just had an operation on my foot (still feel younger than 70) BUT the paperwork arrived whilst not feeling very 'switched on!' and the grey cells are not very active.

I too have had Sentinel for years.

    1. I have found an old Barclaycard Statement 2008 with Sentinel on it.
    2. At some stage I changed from B/Card to John Lewis Credit Card have money coming out 2010 when I think I took a deal direct from Sentinel? cheaper for 3 years or something.
    3. June 2013 - £83.92 - must have done it again for three years - 2016

Both my husband and myself were covered.

Could anyone advise me - I see some have said that they have phoned Sentinel and been helped. Would that be the best idea do you think as a starter?
