Abbey Debit Card, Where Is It?

Does anyone knows if this story state of affairs will be repeated for the cards expiring at the end of this month?
I got my bank statement allright mid july, so I guess they can't say that my address was messed up in their system.
Should I expect to get it in september some time and not be able to withdraw some money until I get my card?
What bother me most is that my card is registered with some online shops, like oyster topup and Tesco groceries which I use regularly, and I don't like using credit cards for everyday expenses.
Maybe they will change their ways and send the cards a bit earlier in august?
Surely, with the complaints about the appalling customer services and people leaving Abbey, they should start to put things right, or is it a case of "we are not bothered and don't care if we are losing customers"?0 -
I still have not received my replacement card, this is causing me great distress, I cannot easily get to the branch to withdraw money, when I did manage the queue was out of the door. I have had FOUR different excuses as to why they have not sent the cards. One is that all the addresses have come up unconfirmed, yet they can send a statement. And to add insult I have received the new Terms and Conditions. I have banked with Abbey for over 40 years. I shall now be changing banks.0

It was a queue to the door at our local branch all week. To add insult to it all the air con had broken and you can sweat yourself stupid in the never ending queue from hell listening to people complaining to the rapidly melting cashiers. Variety of excuses for q including floods, post, summer, end of month...0

Still not got mine.
However.... went to a branch at lunchtime to cash a cheque. Lady working there told me that they had received loads of cards sent direct to the branch this morning. She suggested that if mine wasn't at home tonight, that I could try contacting the branch where I set my account up to see if it had been sent there.......0 -
I still haven't received my card. I have to brave a trip to my local branch tommorrow ( it's in the middle of a shopping centre) because I need to get some money out, so I'll see what information I can get out of them.However.... went to a branch at lunchtime to cash a cheque. I don't live near the branch where I set the account up, I've moved house twice since then, it'll be a 100 mile round trip to get there, so I really hope the card hasn't gone there! Eek!0 -
Re the Abbey Fiasco about not sending out renewal debit cards . Mine expired at the end of July .Two calls to India were a waste of time as neither of us could make out what the other was meaning so a call to Card Services on 0800 1697903 a couple of weeks ago got me someone in the UK who checked things and said there had been a system problem but the card would be on it's way .Last week( Friday) I called again and she said that someone had altered the status of my Home Address ( I suspect it was herself ) and that the card might not have gone so she arranged a new card and a new pin number . On Saturday a card arrived valid from 01/06. I called again today and was told that this card had been stopped and that a new one was issued today so here's hoping .
Absolutely nothing on their website about this nor any announcement when you phone .It's impossible to get through to CS unless you hang on about 20-30 minutes and to rub salt in the wounds their on-line banking has gone down this afternoon0 -
Hi, I have had similar problems, I called the call centre on 1.8.07 and was cut off as soon as i told the man on the phone that it was an unacceptable situation, then I had to ring back and wait another 10 mins to get though, and they told me that I would receive it by 2nd August. I went into my local branch a couple of times last week and they checked and told me that it was on its way. Today having still not received it I went back in to my local branch and they told me that it hasn't even been issued, there was a block on my account (something called a migration block) and that they didn't know how it got there and what it meant. They said that they have ordered me one today and it could take up to 2 weeks! It is so frustrating.0

Well my card still hasn't arrived, & I was sick of being fobbed of by CS so I made a trip to my local branch today.
Helpful lady got in touch with card services who told her that the reason I hadn't received my card was because it was never issued! Why? Some rubbish about my address coming up unconfirmed when the card request was originally made, so the card wasn't sent. Oh great! I believe some other people have had the same problem.
Anyway she ordered a new card for me there & then and I'll just have to wait for it to turn up (and keep my fingers crossed that it does!). She at least gave me a direct number for my branch & said to contact her if it doesn't arrive in a couple of weeks.
What really annoys me is that I was given a load of old flannel by CS about floods & strikes instead of telling me that the card hadn't been issued at all. Rubbish really.0 -
I cant believe that people are still waiting for their cards.Do we know if this will happen again at the end of August? It seems a lot of the problems were caused when Abbey become part of the Santander group.I have been trying to link my savings account to my online current account for 2 months, the staff in branch keep telling me to try next week, when their systems have caught up.Its a disgrace.0

So you have to mess about getting cash for the next 2 weeks?
I got the acknowledgment letter for my complaint this morning. There was a copy of their complaints procedure enclosed. Yes, I mean a PHOTOCOPY!
Do you think they might have run out of leaflets?:rolleyes:I have plenty of willpower - it's won't power I need.
