Yet another day passes and still no card .No Pin... No Online banking Registration Code .No Online banking Passcode .
    GRRR !!!!
  • Hi All,

I've been reading these posts and it's strangely comforting to know I'm not the only one having these problems with Abbey.

I too am awaiting a new card from Abbey - I married and changed my name and also my address in May, so early June I went to an Abbey branch, filled in a form to change my name and address. The girl in the branch told me there was a delay with cards at the time however said I should have one in around 3 weeks.

Around four weeks later I still had heard nothing however I received a new cheque book in my married name, but sent to my old address (even though my address was changed at the same time)...but still no card.I called CS to get my address changed and was told my card was sent out on the 4th of July. Two weeks later still no card, address still not changed either, I called again, was told my card was sent on the 11th of July????? How could this be I wondered! Anyway still have no card which was apparently valid from August 1st and my old has no been disabled, so I have no card at all.

Anyway, enough was enough for me - after around 7 weeks of waiting I applied to open a new account with another bank, within a week I received my card from my new bank and a new pin! Still no card from Abbey - around 9 weeks and counting!
  • YET ANOTHER DAY STILL NO CARD. BUT AN ACKNOWLEDGEMENT TO MY LETTER OF COMPLAINT AT LAST. I DON'T KNOW HOW THEY HAVE GOT THE NERVE TO SAY IN THE LETTER "HIGH QUALITY CUSTOMER SERVICE IS OF GREAT IMPORTANCE TO US" , yet only answered one of the six e-mails I sent with an answer that was not relevent to my question, still no apology letter as to why the cards have not gone out, if everyone had got one at least it would have showed they cared. Not even a mention in the letter I have just received.

I await in vain as to what Monday will bring, will I get the card on the 13th watch this space.

Earlier I phoned Card Services and spoke to someone who didn't seem to know what they were doing and seemed to think it was all a big joke which incensed me greatly .She then asked if she could call me back and I suggested that she speak to a Supervisor and say that I was not happy .One hour and 30 minutes later I am still waiting on that call.

I am a bit concerned about this after seeing that so many people have had problems with getting their new debit card, as my debit card expires end of august.
I have called Abbey and enquires about his, I was told that I should get my new card about one week before the end of the month, and if I didn't get it by then to call again.
When I mentioned the july problems she said that the problems have been solved and that I shouldn't have any problems in getting my new card.
How come I am still not reassured?
I think I will be crossing everything I can cross until I get my new card.
  • I am fuming!

It is now the 10th August and still no card. Got through to LOST AND STOLEN yesterday and they said 'oh let me look at your details' well despite being on the phone at least 5 times in the last 12 days this guy said to me 'oh your address and name details are coming up as unconfirmed'.

What on earth? Madness absolutely madness and yet another weekend without my card. I am so dissatisified with the service Abbey are providing. No apologies, nothing. I am going to write and complain next, they said they are going to credit me £30 but after all this time - they are having a laugh with all of us.

How could a system go so wrong? Like you say they are the first to dish out penalties.

Well now I have to wait 5-7 working days for a replacement and then a further few days for a pin number etc etc. Might have it for next weekend - VERY POOR.

    Not impressed.

I think watchdog should cover the story.

Hope you all receive your cards soon!
  • I rang the customer complaints dept this morning, got through to a very nice, competent lady who checked for me and said that a request has now been raised and that I should get my card by next Wednesday. I also said that I felt I should be compensated for my petrol, parking (having to keep going into the branch for cash) phone calls, and also my time, she offered me 60 pounds and said that if I don't get my card by Wednesday they will increase this amount, and that I should receive the money within 7-10 days. Won't be holding by breath.............................

I am still without a card also. Spoke to someone else on a different phone number today who seemed helpful and at least apologised - first one in what is now 19 phone calls and 4 visits to my branch. I have now been told that a glitch which caused some addresses to be "unconfirmed" was only noticed this week. He did not say whether mine was one of those, I am assuming it is. I have been told the first card has been cancelled and a second issued which will be with me by Wednesday next week...sound familiar? Doesn't it just. No-one has offered compensation but I shall be phoning the complaints department on Monday and demanding some. Abbey are still not posting on their site or on the access page to online banking anything about these problems let alone an apology. Soon as I can I shall change banks.

Well last Friday I was told that my address showing as "unconfirmed" was what caused the problem and the card might not have been sent out so another was ordered that day but it arrived on the Saturday but I couldnt use it as it had been stopped .
I have now logged a complaint with Milton Keynes and shall be writing to them detailing all my gripes and asking for some cash .

Just spoken to someone who was extremely rude and when I questioned where my card was he said 'well its probably under 6 feet of water'?

Can anyone clarify for me the date that the floods were announced?
