Mine arrived this morning. As I had already decided to transfer enough money into my new Bank of Scotland account to use it for cash withdrawals, it didn't really affect me - although I narrowly missed bouncing an automated payment which the originator took on the 31st. I will make a complaint, although I don't have much faith in a speedy reply, I have now had two holding responses to my complaint about the internet banking problems at thhe end of May, including an invitation to complain to the ombudsman because they were taking so long to do nothing about my complaint. I haven't yet (been busy with coursework assignments) but I think I will if I get a third holding response.

For those who need to make online payments to credit cards, don't forget you can do it by online banking from your Abbey account, you just need to put in the bank account and sort code from your CC statement and use the CC number as the reference. However, the money does take a bit longer - usually the usual 3 days for BACS - whereas if you pay by debit card on the CC website it is sometimes credited the same day depending on the CC's policy.

I was told that the cards were now generated only a week before expiry because there had been problems with customers getting the cards and using them before the old ones run out!! [snip]
If this is true this situation is not justy due to bad luck (floods and postal strikes) but to Abbey's ridiculous decision to send them out so late because of a few customers making mistakes.

That's a load of old pony (from Abbey, not you!) My new card is dated from 06/07, they could have sent it outtwo months ago. Personally I think it's a great idea to send the cards out already valid - I hate it when you have to put your new card somewhere safe for a few weeks and then remember to swap it over - but this late is ridiculous, there's obviously no room for error.

I'm really glad that other peoples cards have started to arrive. I haven't given up all hope yet, I received a letter this morning which was postmarked 30th July so if the card was sent on the 31st there is still a chance it's caught up in Royal Mails huge backlog of stuff. Oh well, I'm off to do some gardening to try & relax!

Mine arrived this morning. Mine says start date is June as well.
Bibaboo - I'd check with lost/stolen cards that yours has been sent out. You get through to them a lot quicker too.
    I have plenty of willpower - it's won't power I need.

Mine came too - I don't believe anything they tell me. I asked in branch when it was sent for processing and she said 1 June.! The floods were 6 weeks after this. Another customer was at a desk and she was told they were late due to the postal strike. My wife asked at the counter and she was told it was due to migration of systems!!! One branch three excuses.

I was told in branch if I used a credit card to withdraw cash Abbey would refund any cash advance fees. I'd like this in writing before I went ahead.

My Goldfish card was uncharacteristically late this time around. Usually get it about 3 weeks ahead, this time I didn't get it until today. Card run out end of July. Cardless for only a couple of days. They blamed the strikes:rolleyes:
