Still no cards. It has not been posted monday then.
I suppose I am the only one left without a card, not many complaints lately.0 -
My card ran out at the end of August. I,ve been on the phone to Abbey every 2 days and have been told that i should recieve my card by various different days both this week and last week and still nothing
Post came today, still nothing, phoned them up and oh yes its definately been sent, so maybe its missing so they have now cancelled and reordered my card and i should recieve it in 5 working days.....seeing is believing, if it does turn up i,ll be shocked!! Problem now is what if the original card turns up, with it now cancelled! The whole situation is driving me mad
and i,m definately going to send them a letter of complaint.

After 5 weeks I have actually have a PIN! I wonder how long the card will take. I had to cancel the original, the next one was never ordered and so it looks like third time lucky. What a shame I've moved to a different bank.0

I suppose I am the only one left without a card, not many complaints lately.
I have 4 accounts with Abbey (Business, Savings ,current and ISA) and still no card since July, I was on the phone 3 times now and as per other posters I was sold porkies by the pound.
The first one was the best: Our card factory in Tewksbury suffers due to the floods in town.
Now, I work across the road from this factory and this area near the M5 was NOT flooded at all and trucks are coming in and out of the factory all the time (June,July Aug and now).
Next I spoken to the Indian call centre and found it very hard to understand a word due to heavy accent of the agent and his manager.
Can anyone here provide us a template letter of complaint? I am lucky to have a dormant Nat West account that I can use otherwise I would be f***. :mad:Five exclamation marks the sure sign of an insane mind!!!!!

5 weeks after expiry I finally have my card and PIN. Haven't tried them yet but what a nightmare this has been.
However, I've learnt a few things.
1. I save oodles more when I draw cash out and make it last instead of a debit here and there.
2. Abbey are now a terrible bank, though all the staff have been very helpful, just not the ones responsible for overseeing card distribution.
3. Let's not forget people in the world who have a lot less than us.

ed zep,
I can't see how the staff could have been helpful if you had to wait five weeks for a card. If they were helpful, they would not be a terrible bank.
I have been to branches where they can't be bothered to open till 910 cause the staff were to busy drinking coffee.0 -
In terms of customer service alone, which bank do come first? IMO first direct but it was a while back. I had banking in the past with First Direct and I had very very good service.
I must say that I never had so many problems like I have with Abbey and I am not just talking about the card fiasco, I am talking about 6 years of problems and slow service.
They give fairly good rates on savings etc' but is that worth the hassle? :cool:Five exclamation marks the sure sign of an insane mind!!!!!

The problem I've got is that, if I don't get my card and tell them, they will cancel the card and order a new one, but then I won't be able to go online and make any payments to my credit cards which I am using at the moment to pay for everyday shopping, and I have my gas and electricity bills coming at the end of the month, and as well the fact that I like to see what transaction I have on my online statements on a regular basis.
And the fact that I cannot do any cash withdrawal at the moment, I did get some cash before my card expired, but that cash won't last that long.
I have got a cirrus card attached to my isa account, it used to be the card I was using when I had an instant saver account, and they changed it to an ISA account, maybe I could withdraw some cash with it, but for the life of me I cannot remember the pin on that card, the last time i used it was in 1999.
And I wouldn' be sure whether my card wouldn't be swallowed by the cash machine.:wall:0 -
Interesting Spark, I can still get in to my online banking as Abbey promised that the card number will stay the same which might explain the common rumor that they are changing their IT systems.
I can't get cash since July 1st and my cheques will not be accepted without the card in some places. I have moved some money across to NW where I get rubbish intrest but at list I can use the dosh.
I hope they will sort themselves sooner than later as I already started to look for other home for my money, it's a shame as I have almost 100k with abbey in different accounts etc' but even with a 100k you still get treated like garbage.Five exclamation marks the sure sign of an insane mind!!!!!
