LOL yes it is.
To be fair, I agree that a choc orange for a gift is a bit tightAnd I did say so in my first post. But I also think that the brother is a bit of a wimp and a mommy's boy to be reporting back to her that he was hacked off, and asking her to have a word with his bro and SIL. I assume he did, seeing as the mother DID scold them about it! :rotfl:
It just sounds really childish and infantile behaviour.
And let's face it, some people get NOTHING from anyone for their birthdays, so he also sounds like an ungrateful whiney childish brat to me. :rotfl:Proud to have lost over 3 stone (45 pounds,) in the past year! :j Now a size 14!
You're not singing anymore........ You're not singing any-more!0 -
I didn't choose to have a baby - I was on the depo injection, and I actually work 48 hours a week most weeks, and my husband works full time too, so we put in our share, thanks.
I'm pretty sure you chose to have a baby. And move in with your parents rather than supporting yourself and your child.
No judgement but it seems a little crass to insult your brother in law when you insulted him with such a 'gift'.0 -

I'll have it: I wubz choc oranges!Proud to have lost over 3 stone (45 pounds,) in the past year! :j Now a size 14!

I agree he is being whiney, bt a short dated choc orange is blatantly an unwanted Xmas leftover so I'd probably have been a bit miffed (although I wouldn't have vocalised it to anyone).
My 30th was last year, and my friends are all normally skint (right after Xmas) so we just had a house party and they all got me 'cheap' presents (<£5), but they were thoughtful and things that I'd either find funny or that I'd vaguely remembered mentioning I needed whilst drunk months previously (like nail files and slipper socks). It was a really good birthday.0 -
Well on the basis its my mum's birthday this weekend (and its not a significant birthday either) I might cancel the restaurant I've had booked since last August (I kid you not) and take her to the local Tesco cafe instead.....picked up an voucher today which means I an get her a free cup of tea and a piece of cake for a £10

I have got to agree, it isn't even the fact it was cheap but the fact no thought went into it and it was a re-gifted present. OP, I do think a little more effort could of gone into it, it didn't have to be expensive, just a little bit more thoughtful?Raven. :grinheart:grinheart:grinheart0

Then I'm sure you could have spared a bit more than the very generous £0 you spend, between two of you, on a close family member's significant birthday.0 -
Can a board guide make Martin aware of this thread? I'm sure he'd be in awe of such incredible moneysaving and want to feature the idea on his telly show.
Live with parents for years, then spend your savings on yourself and regift cheap xmas chocolate throughout the year to your loved ones. Smashing that!Trying to be a man is a waste of a woman0 -

And you can take a flask of tea and a packed lunch for yourself, thereby saving even more money!"I may be many things but not being indiscreet isn't one of them"0 -
So two people who work full time get a second hand choc orange for someones 30th Birthday......words fail me. Are you paying for lodgings and childcare? is that why you're poor?0
