Sorry to hear about your Mum too Lilt; she sounds like she's a brave lady. Annd wow what a find Sazbgd. I don't drive past the right houses! I've a confession too. I forgot to get the chicken out on Monday for tea so we have fish n' chips for 2 out of the shopping budget. Have taken lunch x 3 and had a SFD today. Can't count yesterday either as had to send a cheque for nephew's bd. so only 1 out of 3.‘One of our greatest freedoms is how we react to things’ said Mole.Cross stitch cafe TaDa Enjoy the Little Things, WIP Love cats, ‘A Year in the Life of’ HSC July-December and The Seasons graphic sampler. Evening all
It was weigh in day today and hadn't lost any weight so then I got mardy and bought lunch at work (!), lost a SFD (!) and bought a kebab for tea (!). What was I thinking!
However, I did bank the tutoring money and then paid it off my loan so my debt is now under £7000 (by £1) :j :j I need this debt gone as I can feel it frustrating me now and its starting to feel like a shackle around my neck (think you said something similar the other day stewby)
I have also done more than 30 minutes of exercise as walked two sets of dogsLBM = 07/09/13 Debt = £13339 (100% cleared)

SFD. Took 24 things to the charity bin in the library (2 trips) - that was my walk. Other then that, just plodding. Well good day really but still tired and a bit achey.
Today I am grateful for improving (can push the bin and walk now, last week it was push it forward then lean on it to walk two steps), little bits making a difference and a nice bright day (even if it was bitterly cold). My mission in life is not only to survive, but to thrive and to do so with some Passion, some Compassion, some Humour and some Style.NST SEP No 1 No Debt No mortgage0 -

I have noticed this too! It's everywhere. My village is mainly OAPs so who is chewing and spitting out all this gum onto the pavements?!
Absolutely zero roadkill found this weekIf we were collecting real roadkill, I could find loads but can't find a penny anywhere. Looking forward to the next weekly challenge

Happy end of Hump Day, Turtles!! :j
Congrats to all of those who took part in the money roadkill mini challenge and were successful- some even finding food and furniture!! You are all more than welcome to continue in your search for money drops, you never know you may get lucky like Lilt and Bob. Even smaller sums are still fun to find and can help knock a little bit off a food shop or stashed in a penny jar for a rainy day!*** :T:T I hereby name Liltdiddylilt as Our Ninja Saving Turtle of the week for her £5 muddy find!! :T:T ***
**Mini Challenge Numero.2 Commences:
Thursday 15th January and ends evening of the 21st January**
So 'Onwards and Upwards' the Turtle's progress through the levels of January: planning their adventures has equipped them well to begin their battle through the fields of consumerist temptations, discovering small treasures on their way and creative skills for making their money and food go further. Battles with lurgys and January blues will not defeat us as we push on through to the second half of January.
Sure there are sometimes little slip ups here and there along the way, unexpected barriers on our path which can send us off track or slow us down, but as long as we reflect on these, work out how to work around these or avoid them in the future, we will make it!! :j The second half of January is reknowned for it's blues- but blues there will be no more...
My challenge to you, fellow Turtles is to share with us all each time you check in, 3 good things that have happened in your day or 3 things you are grateful for. This is a great opportunity to reflect. (You may have seen apple and mothernerd post such things in their daily posts). Sometimes we forget to celebrate the smallest of achievements, sometimes we forget to appreciate what we have got or how far we have come already on our travels. Apple has shown us very recently, that despite how stressful a day can be, there is always something positive to find from it.
So let's boost those happiness levels (I am thinking a bit a long the line of the Sims here), let's keep up the momentum to continue our debt busting and money saving journeys during January. Let's celebrate the smallest of achievements, those little things in our day to day lives that make us smile. You can share positive's around anything from: receiving praise at work, paying off another % of your debt, a stranger giving way to you when they did not have to, your child's laughter, cuddles with your favourite pet, saving money on a shop, finding a penny on the floor, sticking to something you have planned, parking your car like a boss, getting up a little earlier etc... the positives are endless.
So in short:
3 positives a day/ check-in- whether they are things you are grateful for, things you have achieved or positive things that have happened!
Here are my examples for today:- Feeling pleased about: receiving really good praise during my supervision today at work.
- Feeling grateful for great chats and cups of tea with friend's.
- Feeling grateful for: Snuggly socks, fluffy jumpers and heating during this chilly and very windy evening.
Keep Saving, you are all doing so so well! :money::coffee:

NSD number 6 today. Probably the only good part of my day... Packing up some things to stay at my parents. Boiler seems to have finally had it. I bled the radiators last night and this morning as pressure keeps rising. Switched off the boiler before I went to work but when I returned the pressure had still gone up (?!). So bled again, then turned on and it just started 'screaming' at me. I was so scared after 10 mins of such a racket that I had to turn it off. Still shaking now... thought it would explode! Lol. DH away till Saturday so will feel safest at my parents I guess. Can deal with no heating but not freezing cold water to wash in! Making me hate my house and just everything. Urgh
Hope this gets fixed for you soon Samiszel! I have been through something similar when our boiler blew we had to boil water in pans just to have a wash. I think it's a very good idea staying at your parents, especially with this horrid weather.:coffee:

After tea hubby looked in the fridge and said oh we need to go shopping. Then I listed things I can make for lunches and dinners the next three days and his jaw nearly dropped, lol.
Today I'm grateful for having fun in the snow with DS after work (built a snowman in rhe dark), a good chat with my work mates when the day is dull, and for having our bedroom back as we moved DD (10 mo) finally into DS's room. Oh and for a sturdy warm house in this storm.

Hope everyone survived the gales last night
I thought at one point my bay window might blow off, but thankfully it seems to have calmed down this morning. Payday today, so have spent an hour happily playing with YNAB in order to balance everything - now have £600 in my savings accounts but looking at a very frugal month! So will definitely be making the most of the rest of this challenge
Another SFD yesterday, won't be today as I've paid my car tax, need to fill up and we've decided to treat ourselves to Costco pizza at work - my share should only come to about £3 so I'm going to use some of my market research money, which hasn't gone into the budget to fund it, and put the rest towards a collection and fuel money to boost the budget a little. Next month should hopefully be much easier, and at least I won't have to stress about getting the money together for my MOT come march.
Have a good day turtles

I have noticed that our local co-op now has a food bank donation point so next time I'm there I shall drop something in.
3 positives for yesterday
1. Coffee with a friend who I've only known a year but feel like I've known forever, her friendship is very valuable to me.
2. It was my nephew's second birthday so I spent the afternoon with my brother's family. I made his birthday cake and his smile when he saw it was 100% worth the effort.
3. Cake bookings have been a bit slow since Christmas but had 3 inquiries and 2 bookings were made last night.
