  • Hiya Turtles,

SFD #12 today. Went to a big sainsbos on Monday or Tuesday, actually pretty sure I posted that already, lol.

Day off tomorrow. Getting a new loft hatch and ladder fitted. This comes out of my new house budget so doesn't count as a spend. The ladder means I can claim the little bedroom back that is literally wall to wall with boxes. They are mostly DVD's. They will go in the loft for a little while then will raven them more than likely, picking out my absolute faves.

It's my besties little boy's birthday tomorrow. Hopefully his birthday present, that I bought before Christmas will arrive tomorrow. Also expecting a belated Christmas present for my other folks that got sent back to depot after me chasing it for days.

    Things I am grateful for:
Day off tomorrow and working out today that over the next ten weeks, I am only working 25 days
Npower finally paying my credit back from the flat, £171.60 into my buffer, thank you very much Npower
Thomas the Tank Engine - that's what I will be playing with tomorrow with my little bestie

Today I am grateful that dd is well enough to be going back to school tomorrow, that dh cooked a yummy korma + hm chips, that I completed my reports, that the pelting rain turned into sunshine so we sent the stir-crazy kids outside, that lovely neighbour popped in to see how dd was doing.

Savvy Shopper! I've been Money Tipped!
    Hello everyone!!

Bobarella I work in the same job that I did before I went on maternity leave, but when I came back I cut down to 3 days per week from 2 and took the pro-rata pay cut with it. Either coming back full time (which I don't want) or doing a part time evening job after Jellytot is asleep would crucify me in tax, and cut my tax credits down far more than it would earn me. So I sit tight and work 3 days a week for £13k a year salary. And spend time with Jelly and keep house etc in the rest of the time.

Sounds like you have made a good life style choice whilst your little one is small. It goes so quick. I'm interested to see whether they change it all again re child benefits tax credits etc after the gen election. I do think it's insane that you can have a £100,000 family getting CB but one where mum earns 51000 & dad 9000 get nothing.

well my roadkill radar served me well with 27p today. I got £5 last month so I'm half way almost. Also earned 50p in tips which I will use to buy a loaf tommorow. I see sains are now doing a medium white loaf for 40p. They've cut their basics butter to only 90p too.

    Evening all

SFD number 10 today :) Took lunch to work but then ate in the school cafeteria, although the lovely dinner ladies didn't make me pay today :) Did 20 minutes exercise but didn't get to my 30 minutes goal, but its better than nothing.

Feeling a bit deflated at the moment, overly tired, fighting something off and someone close to us is having a tough time at the moment so finding it hard to be cheery. The mini challenge is just what I need thank you Loveadove.

    I am grateful for;
1.) Having a supportive, loving family
2.) Having an OH that is who he is, even if that often frustrates me
3.) For having my safe home to retreat to
    4.) And finally finding my first bit a roadkill - 5p :)

It appears that I haven't posted since 10th of January... which doesn't make sense as I thought I had posted more than that.
    :(

I was feeling really rotten still (must have been a bug, a mixture of a bug and feeling stressed) however we had a telephone call to work where we got some really good feedback and it has just made me feel awesome. I am not that bad at my job after all.
    :o

I have had 5 spend-free days (I think... if I haven't posted since the 10th). However, OH went shopping and used money from the food budget.
So that puts us up to 11 spend-free days (getting rid of one for OH's spends) and we have about £36 left in the food budget. We also have a £5 voucher for morries as well.
    :D

Roadkill went wrong and found nothing... my mum is now collecting it for the year. My dad has offered to take her home anything he hits. She agreed (don't think she quite understood).

3 things I am grateful for:
    1) my physical health (mental might be a bit shaky sometimes).
    2) my family.
    3) I guess that we still have some money left so far this month.

Oh... despite feeling rotten, I have somehow managed to book in an extra shift and a half for next week. Complete eejit sometimes but never can refuse when a boss asks. Means that I will be working monday, tuesday, thursday, friday and saturday but wages will look good next month.

Hope all the other turtles are doing okay. Hugs.

edit: also hoping I can pay a bit extra off credit card next month as there will be no council tax bill and I have worked more. Fingers crossed.

  • Happy friday everyone!! Very, very grateful that it's the end of the week, even if I have more studying and a job application to do over the weekend - at least I can do it inside, in the warm and dry in my pjs :D

Spendy day yesterday, as was paid and needed food and petrol, hopefully stocked up enough now not to need anything from a supermarket next week and to hibernate over the weekend.

    Groceries 15th Jan - 15th Feb £4.37/100
    Fuel 15th January - 15th February £0/£50
    Spending money - 0/11.37
    Lunch to work: 8/20
    Lunchtime walks at work 9/20
    Food bank 0/£3
    SFDs: 7/18

Super speedy check in from me for yesterday (I was at my ma's straight after work for her Birthday).

8sfds- sfd Wednesday, small spend day yesterday- £5 towards leaving gift for a colleague I am good friend's with and £5 towards the fish 'n' chips that me, my ma, sisters and nephew had last night.

    Yesterday I was grateful for:

    * Playing with my little dude nephew! We actually played with my old beanie babies (I've got about 100! Which I kept for when I had nieces and nephews or children of my own) and a control operated walking robotic pony- which he loved!
    * Amazing free mocha's at work put a smile on my face when I am having a tough day there.
*Spending time with my Mum, Sister's and our 3 lovely kitty cats that live with my ma :)

I will catch up properly with you all later! Hope you all have a fantastic FRI-YAY!!

I didn't see it but one of the most valuable things I have learned from my mum is being able cook. I can put together a meal made from pretty much anything where as DH had never cooked a meal in his life when we first met. The difference between being the oldest of 5 compared to the youngest of 4.
