mavvymoo - at least you thought about it for a few seconds
enjoy your boots! I think if you've had your eye on them for that long you can justify it a little bit...
I have a pair of Alexander McQueen red suede ankle boots, I want to point out I did not buy them! I won them on facebook, I was going to sell them on, but then they fitted and were comfy and I thought when am I ever going to spend £600 on a pair of shoes.... so I kept them.. I figured if oneday I need some money I'm bound to get a couple £ for them lol.
I've worn them 2 times in 3 years. So I decided sod it it's a friends 21st this weekend I'm going to get them out and wear them.... but what do you wear with red boots?!
If I don't figure something out my fall back plan is my next most lived in box shoes some irregular choice beauties. Much easier to dress.
Anyway I was saved from spending clothing money yesterday! A friend gave me socks for Christmas, I actually really needed socks! so phew! And they have owls on themI love owls
I've also been gifted a load of jumpers and a couple pairs of jeans by my god mother, she has lost a ton of weight so passed them on, lots of them are 3/4 length sleeves so I will probably leave those to my mum and sister but any long sleeved ones I'm nabbing
Though I've lost 5lbs since new year so they might be too big for me soon too
I've spotted a top I like in Sainsburys it's a work out one so not exciting, but when I've lost a stone I'm buying it! So that's £10 of the budget set aside. I do love sainsburys clothing...
I've discovered a tip for not spending...
Decide what you want before you go... I always find if I know what I want I can't find anything just right anywhere, it's frustrating lol!
xI hope you know your capable, & brave, & significant.
even when it feels like your not....0 -

Mmm and I bet those boots are so comfortable. And they'll last forever. I admit I am a bit of a designer clothes fan. You can buy it for life (I'm currently warmly wrapped up in my Burberry cashmere scarf. A christmas present! I didn't buy it!)
What I do is keep a pinterest "wish list". I can then earmark all the things I like. And I keep a secondary "shopping list" of things for the house (things that I actually need, instead of things I wish I could have). It means you end up staring at things for a few months before you buy them. And it's also great for keeping an eye on things when they go down in the sale!0 -
Should also say I'd like to sign up for this challenge
I'm going to budget myself £300 for the year.
My current plan is to buy a Tree of Life silk scarf from Liberty in the summer (£165) and a grey cashmere jumper (probably John Lewis).
I'm also pretty good at sewing, and as it's my hobby I can use my hobby budget to spend on clothesI want to sew myself some silk blouses. I estimate fabric cost for each one will be about £20, but as it's hobby I won't count it in the clothes budget (it keeps me sane!) Plus £20 for a silk blouse is excellent and it'll last for years to come as I know how to repair it!
My real pledge this year is to buy less, and buy better. No more going to New Look and buying something because I'm bored. I only want to invest in good quality clothing that will last more than a season. I am only buying things that are classic and timeless and I can see myself wearing for at least 5-10 years. So lots of simple cuts, good quality natural fabrics and gently building a capsule wardrobe of a small selection of items that fit well and work well together.0 -

The one exception being my wedding dress, which I started looking for in Feb 1991 (with a wedding date of Aug 1992) as I expected to have problems finding 'the one'. I couldn't describe to anyone exactly what I wanted, but had a pretty good picture of it in my head. So I trotted off to a wedding fayre (which I expected to be the first of many, accompanied by visits to many dress shops), and the third dress to come out on the catwalk was 'my' dress. I noted the shop it was from, did a final trawl of all the stands (while almost everyone else was in the bridal gown show, making them lovely and quiet) and headed home. I only went to one other bridal fayre, and the only shop I visited was the one tha had 'my' dressCheryl0 -

The really strange thing is my new wanted for 2 years boots are also Red Suede :rotfl::rotfl:Please don't say 'what do you wear with red boots' Cos I am going to wear mine with anything :rotfl: Purple, Green and yellow  I don't careThey are NOT being saved for best I promise. Yours sound fab and well done on winning them :T
So if you see some idiot women wearing purple with a fab pair of RED boots wandering round Lidl You will know its me
I am also going down the route of buying much better quality and having a long term 'wish list' and buying a few key pieces which I will wear.
Good news on the charity shop skirt already has 2 bids and up to a tenner with 14 watchers and ages to go. So some of my boot money is going to be replaced
Good luck with keeping those eyes firmly shut everyone

Well the winter jacket came and now it is bagged up waiting to go back. I'm almost glad because the budget is still intact!
Anyhow, it was a) poor fit and b) poor quality. Can't imagine anyone paying full price for it, even at half price it seemed expensive for the quality. I'll find one in a charity shop I expect.
(My last charity shop purchase of 2014 was a cashmere Jaeger sweater for £8. Can't go wrong in those places!)
I understand entirely about the red boots Mavvy. You enjoy them. xx“All shall be well, and all shall be well and all manner of thing shall be well.”0 -
Totally not what I should be discussing when we all have shopping budgets however I have noticed a few of you like designer quality items.....have any of you used OUTNET??? It is owned by net a porter and has a huge range of designer goodies at discounted prices. I have used a few times and picked up some lovely good quality items :-)
Also Cheshire Oaks is soooooooo worth the trip even if you don't live in the north. I love it there.
£50 (which is my budget)can actually buy you quite a bit there.
On a quick note - my £50 is still in tact for this month but I do get paid next Friday so will resist the urge to splurge.
I am actually excited at the thought of not buying anything!!
sarah xx
Finally debt free and loving it!0 -

So yesterday I went in my favourite charity shop & came out empty handed - which is VERY unusual. Today I found the most beautiful "naked leather" under- arm portfolio / case BNWT £5 !!! & just couldn't bear to leave it in the shop! I've not added it because I'm likely to sell it (I've found it online for c. £90) - If I keep it I'll add it to my total.
Serendipitous - Your Jaeger sweater was an amazing find ! I could do with coming across some bargain cashmere!Shifting my energy for 20200 -
Brilliant buy there for you, somerandom!“All shall be well, and all shall be well and all manner of thing shall be well.”0
