jpscloud - How about dipping a piece of cod in egg then your HEB of wholemeal breadcrumbs and baking it in the overn, then serving with SW chips and the mushy peas?
Now that I do like the sound of! Hadn't thought of breadcrumbs as HEB either. Might try that with coley portions, which I have in the freezer! :money:I believe in the freedom of spinach and the right to arm bears.

Lois, I love the idea of using cous cous for breadcrumbs... don't they get a bit too hard though?
Off for a walk in a minute, hoping to keep my Saturday healthy!!I believe in the freedom of spinach and the right to arm bears.

I think there needs to be some clarification about synning free food. It's not logical that a Muller Light can't be synned but a yogurt with syns in it could or that I suppose if you had a roast potato cooked in goose fat or a parsnip in honey then they'd be OK to syn??? That's like encouraging us to make less healthy choices.
Its to keep things simple. If you have so start syning free stuff, then people will start to get confused. Best to just take free out of the equation and focus on syns.
As for encouraging unhealthy choices, its not. Its teaching you that free stuff, also has a point where it becomes unhealthy. Ie these foods are filling, but they arent nutritious.
SW dont seem to vocalise enough on the fact they although they have a list of free foods, their underlying ethos is still everything in moderation. You arent really supposed to eat 5lbs of spuds a day, they just hope most people stop eating at a portion size, that will translate into a weightloss
SW have noticed people are filling up on pasta/rice/spuds and not losing weight. So by introducing SP as a boost, when people get good results, they will automatically link it to overeating on these carbs and will hopefully self-restrict on EE days0 -

I've seen online recipes where they coat the fishcakes in Smash or similar but even frying them with no coating would probably work. Its to keep things simple. Far from not vocalising it our consultant gives the opposite impression and still says 'fill your boots' with free stuff.
I agree that introducing SP is giving the message that carbs are best eaten in moderation or sometimes not at all but I can see that people will eat free foods made/cooked in an unhealthy way (albeit within syns) rather than go without. I'm sure it'll get better once there are more suggestions around for SP meals/days but there do seem to be loads of people who eat a lot of yogurt so will have to think carefully about how to replace.0 -
Morning all, I haven't had time to read back yet but will do this afternoon.
In the meantime I wonder if anyone could help me out with some sw friendly recipe ideas for mushy peas?
I bought (being very MSE!) a shedload of tins of them when they were at their lowest price and I still have about 30 tins in the cupboard.
My consultant says I can eat them as much as I want, but my favourite way to have them is with fish cakes or fish fingers, which would have to be synned on sw.
I think they would be nice with some smoked salmon trimmings, so that's one way, but I'm struggling for other ideas. Any suggestions much appreciated!
Have a lovely Saturday everyone, I'm trying to keep myself on plan for the weekend as I weigh in on Monday - so far I've been firmly on plan and lost several pounds this week but could easily put that back on if I don't watch it over the next two days!
Sorry do you mean they have to be syned on SP, if so cant help,
I love Mamans description of this plan
I also bought a load when 4p and still have a few (dozen) cans
:rotfl:.
I use them for mushy pea curry, pea and ham soup, thickening a stew or casserole, mushy pea and potato salad, Grandson suggested a mushy pea sarnie but I passed on that.
Re the syn value of smartprice chilli con carne, have bought another tin to check ingredients, and have come to the conclusion there is no way this can be 1 syn, despite what web site and consultant says, it did make a lot of very nice soup so will do it again but to be safe will regard it as 1 syn a portion, and wont be having it just as it is on JP or with chips.Slimming World at target0 -
I do think it odd that SW have rolled out his booster plan and not gone to town with recipes and ideas
The website hasnt been updated with SP food diaries (in fact an article on SP has already been taken off the home page).
The current mag, makes no mention to it. Wouldnt the first mag of 2015 been an ideal opportunity to go into what you can/cant do. Provide menu plans, etc. if only that it increased sales of the mag
Consultants obviously have been updated on the plan, but its not til its rolled out to the public that queries come up and it seems like its down to members to sort it out amongst themselves, as noone seems to have a categorical opinion (conflicting information is being given out, when you ring the helpline)0 -

Hey just nipping in to say mr l@k3land has a veggie spiraliser for 29.99. Not sure if thatd a good price (its in a mag im reading) but it looks like a hefty bit of gear lolI'd rather try and fail, than not try and never know
On the wagon again I go.... royally fell off.... 4.5st (63lb) by June 2016.... LET'S DO THIS!!!!!!!0 -
I think the 'eat as much as you like' for all free foods is a bit of a flaw in the SW message. Yes, eat as much as you like of vegetables and fruits, but it's common sense that if you are eating huge platefuls of pasta, potatoes, rice or meats then you may struggle to loose weight as they are still quite calorie dense foods. Of course it is better than eating carb and fat loaded stuff, but as you have all said, moderation in everything is the key and really restrict the white flours/sugar/fat combinations.
I think it also probably does our body no harm to be a bit hungry at times, probably means we appreciate the food we eat more, rather than unconscious grazing.Trying to keep in budget.

Hi All! Hope everyone's doing well! Had my first weigh in yesterday. Lost a staggering -8.5lbs! :O that's the size of my friends newborn and a bit! Crazy! Very happy though!
I've given up on the idea of SP. It gives me a headache to think about it and I enjoy my free foods too much. Up the EE!!!:p0
