Well I finally plucked up courage to weigh myself. I stopped going to SW group in mid November as I wasn't losing any weight and found it so disheartening. I have gained just 2 lbs since then and really have surprised myself because I have been eating Xmas Pud, cheeses, crackers, sauces, Xmas cake, mince pies, tiramisu, pork pie, chocolates etc etc all of which I haven't eaten for 2 years.

Bad news is I am heavier than I've been for several years.:(

I have to make my mind up today as to whether I am going back to SW tomorrow.

I thought you were trying to hide it from me in the first post so I didn't pick it up for the challenge :rotfl:

I know we all do it but it isn't healthy for your mind to compare yourself to others.

Maybe your friends who only walk to their car eat very little food or have very active days. Maybe the ladies at class that can have desserts and lattes are exaggerating and have only had one a week or have 5 stone more than you to lose so can "get away" with eating more..

Just be the best that you can be each day, and stick to plan as much as you can and the weight should come off again.:D

I've just watched the new Dr Christian program, I didn't like it, much preferred Supersize v Superskinny. I don't get how it's helpful to anyone, other than trying to get each of the pairs into arguments about their lifestyle choices :( disappointed.

I try not to but I am the organiser of our group of maybe 10-16 women and am responsible for taking food orders, settling bill etc so I am very aware of what people have. I would say that apart from one other woman who is a similar size, I am the largest. I am the only one who ever cycles and only one other woman walks regularly and she's a size 10. There are just two of us who don't drink alcohol!

When we meet for a meal I have usual SW breakfast and then something light like homemade SW soup for lunch. We order our food and I just have a normal portion like everyone else, I don't ask for extra anything and I always choose the most SW friendly.

No need to apologise Maman. I don't eat any vegetables (apart from peas and potatoes), and the only fruit I eat is oranges, apples, grapes and strawberries. It stems from a childhood in hospital and being told if I didn't eat what was given, then I would not be allowed home (I was always in hospital). I have a genuine fear of eating certain foods. Veg is the main one. Yes I know it is a pathetic excuse, and every year I promise myself I will try just one, but i simply can't do it. I had help, done CBT, the only thing I haven't done is hypnosis.

I never used to eat any fruit, or rice, or potatoes. Those are something I have gradually started eating in the 10 years I've being married. Oh and i do eat onion now. Not a lot, but its add flavour something :o

So yep, i'm a little crazy, but I'm just thankful it hasn't rubbed off on my children who all eat nearly all veg (even sprouts!) :T I will get there eventually. If you knew what I used to eat you would probably wonder how I ever survived this far in life :o

    CP xx

Thanks for posting this CP, as I'm exactly the same. I also don't eat veg apart from peas, potatoes and raw carrots. I do eat basic salad veg, as in lettuce, tomato and cucumber and most fruits.

I've always been a really fussy eater, but like you I do now eat things I wouldn't touch as a child, such as cheese and steak.

It probably didn't help that some of the meals I used to eat as a child consisted of sugar sandwiches and bread dipped in bacon fat from the frying pan!!!:rotfl:

Thank you! I'll be getting some of those then - so much cheaper than Options - hope they are nice!

I seem to have lost all motivation to work this afternoon...think the fact that its so cold here (all my colleagues are sat at their desks bundled up in down jackets with hot water bottles!) has finally got to my brain and its slowly shutting down!

  • Hi everyone

Wow, this thread moves quickly, it's taken me half an hour to catch up a days worth!

Jocko, my dad is in target and struggles not to go below the lower end of the range so he weighs himself before class every week and puts coins in his pockets if he's at risk of going under! Wish I had that problem

Tweets, I reckon that the SW woe is so close to normal that your body will just stop loosing weight when it gets to the right size for you. So long as you're eating 3 decent meals a day then there's no need to stop trying to lose weight, especially if you're not happy with where you are.

Thanks for the homity pie recipie, it looks yum and I'll deffo be making that one for bf and I. And I'm deffo going to look into fitbits a bit more, I assumed they'd be over £100!

I really need to get to a decent supermarket and get stocked up. We've got a tiny Tesco express on the way home from the tube, and a bigger Morrisons and Sainsbury's a 15 min walk/bus ride away. Nipped into Tesco last night to get something easy for dinner and ended up with quorn sausages at a syn each. Can't say they were much better than the linda McCartney free ones so once the packet's done I won't be repeating the purchase.

Having a experiment today with breakfast, if you can have 35g of porridge as a hexb, and there's 28g in an oats so simple sachet then I can't see any reason to not have 2 sachets and syn the overage? So I had 2 and it did fill me up, first time in 3 days that I haven't been starving all day!

b: 56g oats so simple, cinnamon and apple (hexb, hexa +3.5 syns)
    s: banana
l: the never ending veg curry, yoghurt
d: probably try and have some more curry, just to get rid! If I'm starving when I get in I might have some ryvita and laughing cow for a second hexb/a but if not I'll bung some ham in the curry to change it up a bit.

Someone on my bank of desks has opened a bag of jelly babies and I'm trying my best to resist. It's one of those once you pop you can't stop moments....

Hi again - popped in earlier but didn't have time for a long post. It's hard to keep up, the thread moves so fast!
Weigh in this morning after following the new SP plan since Friday and chuffed with a 5lb loss! Happy bunny!

Well done, what an excellent result! :T

In other news / the bfs family have asked would I monitor their weight loss and food for the next year while they slim down for the family wedding next Xmas :/ I'm unsure will have to get amended copies of the plan for them and then commit to seeing them all for a year ... Plus point they said they'd bung me a few quid each week?! Undecided really but could either make or break my decision to attend a consultants meeting and pursue that line of additional employment really

Go for it, it would be good experience and help you decide if becoming a consultant is for you. You could also point them in the direction of this thread, to take some of the pressure off.

Don't push yourself into doing it if you don't really want to, it is possible to go it alone and lose weight. The downside of not going to group is that you don't have the threat of the public weigh in keeping you on the straight and narrow, and you don't get shiny stickers to reward you when you hit milestones.

If you really want to lose weight, follow the SW plan, set yourself a target and report in here everyday with meal plans, questions and results. If you need the new books you can join SW and just attend once, or you can buy a starter pack on eBay (obviously make sure it's a 2015 one).

Hope everyone's having a good day. DH and I have been shopping and treated ourselves to brunch in the Scottish cafe - bacon, egg, tomato, beans and mushrooms, yummy. :p

Tonight we're having chicken fajitas (using both HEB and HEA) and lots of salad.

    LL :)

ETA - just reading back and remembered I was going to mention sugar sandwiches. My mum used to give us them when she didn't have much in the cupboard and I loved them, especially if they had real butter!
