    Oh, thank you, b_e_g.

Well done, ginvzt, especially given the circumstances. That’s brilliant, lantanna – you’re back in the groove!

I make my own tomato sauce, and it tastes better than the bought varieties, and it has no sugar and preservatives!
Base = Pasata, Double tomato pure, herbs, maybe some tomatoes

For a chilli I would add stock, beans and chilli for example
I can make a variety of dishes from my base: bolognese, sea food, chilli con carne.

You can use jars, but you must Syn them in your plan.
    Hi
I do a similar I have a really fussy eater who loves my pasta sauce and its really easy and syn free

I mix a can of lidl chopped tomatoes with onion and garlic with a can of chopped tomatoes then add some stock made with Star mushroom stock cube and simmer for 20 minutes till reduced then add freshly shredded basil in last 5 mins and season to taste then hand blitz and use this for quorn bolognaise, chillis etc or plain as pasta sauce
I even dilute to make tomato soup I'm a lazy chef at times!
I usually have some in the freezer

It's a STS for me this week please Shala. I've not been to my meeting this week, just weighed on my home scales. I think it may have been a small gain at SW after this weekend, with Mother's Day and DGD's birthday. Birthday sponge cake is definitely one of my weakness's!!

It's been a slow start on this challenge for me, I'm going to try and really stick to the plan this week, so I'll be hoping for better results next week.

Well done all the losers, and welcome to the newbies

After some advice as would like to start slimming world but i am unsure if its for me really. Everyone post or forum i have had a read through all state about making your own pasta/curry sauces etc. We always use jar sauces here. Have tried making my own sauces in the past but they have never gone down well. I love them but OH just hates them. I'm ok at currys but i make the sauces out of a proper curry recipe book. Can you do slimming world if you use jar sauces? We usually use ragu or dolmio for pasta and pataks for curry. Uncle bens for sweet and sour and sweet thai chilli.

Seems a waste of time me even trying to do it if i cant use shop bought sauces, as i'm not about to start cooking separate for myself as that is where i have failed on diets in the past. Also fat on meat and skin on a roast chicken. Is it a must to cut the fat off? We only have steak and roast chicken probably once a month but the skin of the chicken and the steak fat is my fave part and i wouldn't be able to skip them.

    Any advice would be appreciated.

You could continue with your favourite sauces but limit the family to 1 or 2 saucy meals a week, and count the syns. You could also try switching to packet sauce mixes, Colmans spag Bol mix is only 6 syns so if you make 4 meals it works out at 1.5 syns. On other days have meals that are more SW friendly with less syns.

Candyapple we did look at Corfu because I really fancy it but we werent sure of the weather because we are going in October, plus my friend had her heart set on Egypt so there wasn't much chance we were going anywhere else! I really want to be in a bikini on this holiday (also to not have a big fat moon face would also be nice!!! :rotfl:

When I came out of the gym on Sunday after starting the running again, my face was the colour of a tomato and I was breathing through my backside! Felt oddly good for it though

Shala I've always fancied Canada, my mum worked out there for a bit but I never got the chance to visit. Would love to do the Rockies in a big Winnebago. Have you got family over there or just taking the trip because you fancy it?

lantanna well done! I think I will have to stay to group this week, it's clearly helped you :j

Bexta :hello: and welcome to the thread! I do occasionally use the jar and packet sauces - like has been said before you will have to syn them. I know Dolmio does a light version of it's bolognaise light and there are weight watchers sauces too which I think are lower in syns.

Well done to all you other losers!

Went for a big shop, bought lots of yummy treats for the week. Ate them all when I got home. I need a professional intervention. Or a fat camp where they only have lettuce.

Thanks everyone for the advice. We only really have saucy meals once or twice a week anyways if that so that wouldn't be a problem.

Would be happy to swap all our sauces to the super markets own ones as it would save some money too.

Anything I could get my little one to try would be a bonus. My almost 5 year old will eat anything but we are lucky if we get the youngest to eat anything other than ham sandwhichs, cereal or pasta!

Hopefully OH will be starting overtime soon which means I don't have to cater for him as much, as I eat with the kids then make him something quick once he gets in from work.

Do you get all the booklets etc when you join up?

Still not sure if I'm doing this SP correct!!

B/Fast Egg, bacon, tinned toms on 1 slice of W/meal toast
Lunch Cooked beef with salad...lettuce, toms cue & bit of mayo
Dinner (to come) Salmon with veg...not sure what yet as this is a bit tricky. I've got cauli, broc, beans, asparagus, peppers.

I've also had milk in tea & coffee and half a banana.

Any help or ideas gratefully accepted:)

That doesn't look too bad for an SP day as long as you have at least half Speed food, however bananas are only Free not Speed so you shouldn't have too often. Much better to stick to Speed fruit like oranges, apples, strawberries etc.

You also need to have another HEB as it's 1 HEA and 2 HEBs.

    HTH.
