I have always had weight battles, have averaged a size 16-18, have lost big chunks of weight and always put it back on again. About four years ago I was at my lowest weight, split up with my then boyfriend and comfort ate to the max.
In the last three years I met a new fella, moved in together and carried on eating - takeaways, matching food portions and snuggling on the sofa with tons of chocolate.
About this time last year I realised enough was enough, I was humungous, by my standards. I lost a stone and then three more, and was feeling really good.
Christmas came and went, I was being a bit lax about my eating and in February realised I'd put just about a stone on. I thought I was OK with that but something told me that if I didn't stop it'd all be back on by the summer. Thankfully in the last month I've managed to lose the stone, so back to my pre-Christmas weight.
I've never done Slimming World before, nor been to a slimming group but they opened a class last week at the community centre almost right outside my front door. This felt like a bit of a sign.
I went along last Wednesday and signed up. I probably need to lose another 4 stone to be a healthy weight but I don't know quite how low I want to go yet.
This is day 6 of the plan, it's going OK, I think. Keep having to read lots of my book and the online site as it's different from my usual weight loss method of eating less and counting every damn calorie. Thought this may be a good place to catch up with people in between group and learn a thing or too - I probably need all the help I can get.
So, that's a very long-winded way of saying hello!

Anyway I did eventually get a dress which I'm happy with ( and it was a 14, a size down from last year), will post a photo sometime.
Says who exactly!! I find wearing heels improves my posture no end but you'll need a comfy pair for the graduation. Look forward to the photo.
Welcome newbies, good to have you along. Do post any questions you've got and my answer will always be the same: you need more Speed vegetables!!:rotfl:
Seriously though, it does take a bit of getting used to to start with so just ask.0 -

I was shopping with my SIL, it worked really well last year when I asked her to help but somehow I didn't enjoy the experience this time. Perhaps I've grown in confidence since then. I have a completely different taste in clothes to SIL The dress she was referring to was in the 1950's style which I have worn before albeit for dancing. I bought a similar style late last year, I was shopping with my dancing friends and soon as I put it on the complements came flying, so expected the same this time. I was trying to prove a point that I do suit this style of dress. However SIL said it would be more suitable for the 'graduate' than the graduates Mother! There were others which I tried which had quite lowish 'v' neck's which again I was told wasn't suitable for graduation. I however felt very attractive in them and didn't feel they were over the top. It made me wonder if I had the right type of clothing in my wardrobe. Shared with OH on return from shopping trip and he said if he and 3-4 others from dancing thought I looked attractive in these type of dresses then who should I be listening to. I agree with his logic but at the time the comments still hurt. Yes I know my tummy is large and I'm working on my posture but 'I am a work in progress'Weight loss 0/2st

I think your OH Is right and I think that was rather a nasty comment for your SIL to make, is she maybe a bit jealous do you think?Slimming World at target0 -
Mim if you feel nice in the dress then that is what should matter. Ignore your SIL.
Shala Happy Birthday!! Hope you had a lovely day, despite working!
BEG Amazing weight loss! And well done on your new shiny! Quite an achievement!
Huge well done to all the losers and a massive welcome to the newbies!
Not my weigh day till Friday. Been to the gym again today. Getting right back into it. Only manage 30 minutes at a time but thats 30 minutes better spent than sat on my bum watching trash tv.
I really REALLY want some chips from the chip shop. I keep looking in the cupboards for something nice but all I want is chips. I think I might send DH out for some once he gets in from work. Otherwise I might just end up eating loads of rubbish to satisfy my cravings, whereas if i get 3 bags of chips between 5 of us than that limits the damage a bit. And I will feel happy and satisfied.... Hopefully! Lol!
Hope everyone is having a good week so far!

+ 1/2lb for me Shala
To be honest I don't really think I'm any heavier than I was a fortnight ago, just some overly generous weigh ins to catch up on. They seem to want me to set a target now, not sure what to go for.0
