    Afternoon

I put on 1lb this morning. That's not a good start to the challenge is it.

I have been for a 3.4k run. I've got a 4.4k one tomorrow. I have started the 10k in under 55 minutes training plan on the runkeeper app and want to get up to date on it. I will be fine running after work when the clocks change, the park I run in locks its gates at sunset so I can't run there in the winter.

Lois - birthday is Tuesday 10th but I may have already started celebrating a little early:o :D hope you enjoy everyone's birthday celebrations.. Pisceans are the best, wouldn't you agree maman ;)

Haha - DH's birthday is also on Tuesday, and yes, Pisceans are the best thing, equally with Virgoans of course! My family is split equally between the two, DD and I are both Virgo and DS and DH both Pisces.
Then on Wednesday i'm off for a line dancing class  so a bit of body magic will be had... can't wait - i'm going to look like a complete fool but i'm going to enjoy it! :D

I'm jealous, I love line dancing and it's usually one of the activities I do when I'm here in Spain but it's hard on the knees so I can't. Don't worry about looking like a fool, and make sure you stand in the middle so when you turn you will still have someone to follow.

Hmm, National Pie week, maman? I wonder what I could make that I don’t like :p – I do have some shortcrust pastry in the fridge. DH could be a very happy man by the end of the day!

Wondering if you could make Quiche with a different base from (Filo Pastry), the one used with spring rolls and samosas, sure I heard it somewhere that it is a lot kinder to the hips.

TMI!! I thought my DH was making it up but it seriously is Pie Week. I've been good so far, had soup for lunch and have been snacking on beetroot;) So just one off plan meal rather than the whole day but must have weekend wine of course!:j

maman - what day is your birthday - mine's Tuesday - are we birthday buddies? Hope you've not been as naughty as me :o i'm desperately trying to stay on track today but I've already eaten 20 syns  enjoy pie week!:D

No sorry we're not buddies. :( My birthday isn't until Thursday but, like you, I seem to have given myself licence to celebrate very early this year!

Same here but in reverse lois. My birthday this week but DH is in September so a Virgo.

ETA: smedley, filo pastry does have fewer syns than shortcrust or puff but it's still quite synful. Personally I'm happy with a frittata or other crustless type quiche. I suppose t depends how you prioritise your syns. Personally I can live without pastry but I do like some proper cheese in my quiche for flavour. It's all personal choice.

Quite agree, most of them pie type pastries give me indigestion, so I too am quite happy to live without pastry. I do however still love apple pie and a little puff pastry now and then!

Never really thought about Frittata before, but since the filling is essentially baked scrambled egg with a few extras, I see how this could work well.
Will have to look into this, I just love eggs and bacon...

To think I used to live off pies every dinnertime makes me shiver now.

Oooo er, sorry about that maman ;)

Oh dash! I had a lovely long post, went to look at something else and, of course, I lost it! I should know better by now.

Shortcrust is definitely my favourite pastry, although steak pie is best with puff pastry. A pie needs to have a lid really, so that would rule out quiche. And the only thing I can think of right now, that I don’t like is offal or tripe, and I don’t think even DH would eat that, in or out of a pie, lol. Minimising lid of pie to give least syns per slice suggests a lattice top, so jam or treacle, but I’d eat too much of those. Need to give this some more thought.

The beetroot and chocolate cake looks great, although it has not yet been sampled. Only a couple of pounds of beetroot left now. :)

Which brings me neatly to the subject of tonight’s frittata, which you may remember was the replacement for the Caribbean stew that I’d planned (hadn’t left the meat out to thaw). Well, the frittata did not come to pass – because I did not have enough eggs left after making the cake! I was sure I had another box! :o So tonight DH and I shared a chicken jalfrezi and boiled rice. And I had about a fifth of the naan bread. :(

So tomorrow (well really, I) needs to be much better. It should be easier as I won’t be tempted by cake, or DH offering me a choccy biccy when he has cake and coffee as he and DD and DGS are off before lunch to the Davis Cup tomorrow and (hopefully) won’t be home for dinner.

For me, Sunday will be – oh yes it will -
    Breakfast: yogurt & fruit
    Lunch: leek & potato soup
Dinner: veg omelette (with the 2 eggs I have left, lol) & salad

Please keep fingers and toes crossed for me. Good luck everyone.

Sorry it's not printed out well. I'm assuming it's dried milk all included and I don't think dried milk counts as HEA.:(
