Nice to hear all of your thoughts re the NO SUGAR debate, thank you. I think you are all right, everything in moderation seams to be the key.
There is another 'diet programme' on next week, anyone would think it was January! It's a Christian Jensen thing and the premise of the show looks quite good. We'll see.
Have a good day all

I meant to add some thoughts about no sugar - I'm deeply suspicious of any diet that tells you to completely cut out anything, but it can't be a bad thing to be aware of how much sugar is in our foods.
I'm assuming they mean refined sugars and added sugars, as well, otherwise it would be Atkins all over again!
Frogga is the Christian Jensen programme the one where it's a "diet-off" and the winner gets the loser's money stake? It'll be interesting to see how it goes - I do have a guilty love of reality weight-loss programmesI believe in the freedom of spinach and the right to arm bears.

Morning all
Wow - so many new people! Welcome to all of you, I can't remember all the names.
I don't eat sweet things very often although I do like them. I had some cake, pudding and chocolate at Christmas but I've stopped eating them again now I'm back on the plan and I can live quite happily without them.
The one thing that is high in sugar (although not sweet) that I'd find hard to give up, is red wine. Having said that, I did give it up for the whole of October last year and didn't have any cravings or withdrawal symptoms.
The thing that really surprised me was that it didn't make any difference to my weight, and I was only replacing it with tea and coffee, so if it's that calorific it should have!
This morning I've put together a lamb tagine in the slow cooker, with sweet potato, red pepper, onions, tomatoes and lamb, which we'll have with couscous, and as I was making it I wondered how it would fit in with EESP and I think it's probably ok?
However having had banana, pear and yogurt for breakfast, that's probably spoilt the plan for the day!
Have a good day everyone.

Good morning everybody. Just letting you know that my loss is
1lb not a lot but better than a gain.

Great news wiz. Celebrate every loss!!!:TI don't think I could sustain the diet without sugar!
I think it's really important to have a balanced diet. All food groups are needed and that includes sugar. I think the current debate (that's the national one, not frogga's;)) is because some people seem to accept that eating excess cakes, sweets and biscuits is bad but seemingly OK to binge on fruit because it's 'natural'. Too much sugar is bad for you wherever it comes from which IMO is why SW have cut out some fruits from the S list. I'm with LL, it's the wine that's my downfall. But that's what syns are for.:)
In the interests of research I checked the food values for Quorn products an there are differences. Thanks flea. More carbs and less fibre in fillets than pieces so maybe that's why. All this information is helpful as if we want to we can tweak what we're doing/buying.
My EE plan for today:
B: NAS Ribena, HEB porage, HEA milk
L: not sure may just snack on ham and fruitHairy Bikers braised steak, roast parsnips, potatoes and carrots, cauli & broccoli, maybe cabbage
Syns: weekend wine, squirt of syrup
Gravy is almost syn free (tsp of cornflour shared) with this recipe and I've done some roast carrots today to keep potato/parsnip content lower.
ETA: off to football so need to add half a Crunchie to the syns.0 -

Yes matey, that's it. I don't think it's technically about diets per se, more about the will to succeed if against your 'enemy'. They are pitting a Vegan against a hunter blood sports type, a Socialist against a tory, that type of thing. The idea is you try harder as you don't want to lose to 'the enemy'. I too have a guilty pleasure of reality weight loss so we'll watch it togetherSay it once, say it loud ~ I'm an Atheist, Anti-Royalist, Socialist, Tea-Total Veggie Frog and PROUD!:D

Afternoon everyone
I don't think I could manage a 'No Sugar' plan frogga. I need a little bit of choccie or a small biscuit most days and I find that by doing that it keeps away major binges. Just knowing that I have some in stock and knowing that I can incorporate it if I want it seems to work. I think that once things are removed from my eating plan I automatically start to crave - its probably all in my head but that's how it feels. This is one reason I am reserving judgement on EE SP. I don't like the idea of having to be careful what fruit and veg I eat. Saying all that I am going to try it.
Well done on your loss wiz :T
Welcome jamie :hello: - good luck with the challenge.
Will watch out for the new diet programme frogga. Has anyone see the diet plan in yesterday's Daily Mail???? DH was reading out some of the meal plans to me and I just couldn't believe how little (particularly women) were allowed to eat. I think he said it was around 500 cals a day. I think it might have been one of these plans that you can do for a couple of days at a time - another faddy idea I guess.
Just wondering what to have for meals later on and considering what I have had so far - fruit (all S) and two bowls of hm broth with ham and veggies and broth mix (SP) and hoping to have salmon fillet (P) for tea. If I can come up with SP ideas to accompany it, I think this may be my first EE SP dayStill got to have hexs. Could I have the 20 almonds you are allowed for hexb and class the milk chocolate as hexa or is this stretching things a bit too far. Better settle down else maman will shout at me - promise I will behave as I have wi tomorrow night. Will I get that 5.5 shiney - maybe I will leave the choccie almonds alone.

Hi All!
I hope you all enjoyed the festiver period. I've had a great time, but have gone waaaay off track food-wise over the last few weeks and have ended up putting 4lb back on. I'm back on it now though and am aiming for 16lb over the next 8 weeks0 -
I think I need a spiraliser, be grateful for some feedback on the various types for other sw MSEers.
I've been studying the new SP plan this morning, basically it's meals with half P foods & half S foods, is that right? Or can the fraction be any make up? Could it be a third P & two thirds S?
No stodgy carbs (but good veg ones ok), no bananas, blueberries, cherries, grapes, kiwis, mangos or pineapple. And unfortunately no yogurt :-(
Can you have yogurt & syn it? How would that work? Some yogurts are syn free & most have very low syns.
They say yogurts help you loose weight & I've bought any Easiyo to make my own yogurt from skimmed milk - be a shame not to use it.
I'm starting it Saturday, I wi on Saturday.
I also have an Easi Yo but from recollection you make the yogurt with water, not milk.Hello.. been to town and got myself a new food diary. I love a good bit of stationery :j and it reminds me to measure myself and stuff.

That'll be the 5:2 fast plan.. you eat "normally" (i.e. 2000 cals) 5 days and 500 calories on the other 2.
It's actually been proven so far to be really beneficial to your health and people find it easy to follow once they've got used to the first few fast days which are the most miserable time of your life :rotfl: (that's not scientific it's just what I experienced!)

It was from The Works - £2.99 which I think's a bargain...Mortgage amount at 31/12/2011 £166,050 now £0 as at Sept 21 - 15yrs 4 months early.0
