Good morning everybody. Just letting you know that my loss is
1lb not a lot but better than a gain.
I lost 2 last week and I was surprised at that with Christmas and I did have one or two treats!
Frogga, I'm not so sure about sugar free because I don't have sweets or chocolate unless it's sugar free also biscuits and I make my own and cake too using non dairy and Splenda, mainly because I am diabetic. My downfall is bread and potatoes so the new SW plan is no use to me I have cut down on bread and potatoes and mainly use bread as HEX B but like you with chocolate I can't really do without.
I do struggle to lose weight these days. In the seventies I went to WW and lost 3.5 stone in 19 weeks and thinking back to the programme it was so strict. 2 slices of ww bread at breakfast and lunch or change breakfast bread to cereal. The lunchtime bread could be changed to potatoes, rice etc. I had potatoes on a Sunday ,3 fruits a day banana or grapes once per week, fish 5 times per week red meat 3 times 4 eggs 4 oz hard cheese, liver once per week 1 pint skimmed milk per day. I can't remember anything else.it worked then you had to introduce different foods each week to maintain.
I got used to eating that way it stopped working for me. I also stopped smoking and piled the weight on. That's where I am today FAT. I don't really know what will work now. SW is working Slowly.:T0 -
Morning ladies and gents...
Frogga, I'm not too fussed where chocolate is concerned but I love sweetsmy dentist has told me off though and said I shouldn't be eating any sugary goods between meals, it's the worst thing you can do for your teeth apparently.. Not to mention not good for the waist line!
I don't think you should have to cut out any particular food group unless you don't really like it - I'd find cutting fish out really easy :rotfl: but some items are best left as small treats, sugar being one.
Even doing EESP you're not cutting carbs/sugars completely - you can still have bread and syns so I think moderation is the key..
I'm with you though ,the no sugar thing is not for me, too restrictive!
Maman, I like that analogy of the EESP - EE sliding scale.. I'm not sure EESP is working for me but I'd definitely do some meals in that category so I'd be in the middle region of the scale. All got to be good for weight loss :T
Welcome Kazzaw
Wiz - well done!! A loss is a loss, and a 1lb is brilliant after you 2lb last week :TMortgage amount at 31/12/2011 £166,050 now £0 as at Sept 21 - 15yrs 4 months early.0 -
I don't think I could sustain the diet without sugar!
I try to have a little treat every day and keep a stock of treat size chocolate bars etc in the fridge. The Aldi Bubbly bars are quite nice. I still have to be careful though as it's so easy to keep going back for "just one more"!
Why does the binge monster never disappear completely?!:j New Year, New You = 1.5lb/12lb:j0 -
Morning
I've got to agree with the comments about quorn. It's all processed - it doesn't come out the ground like that! (Or does it grow out of the ground? It's basically a fungus so they can be under or over). But to me the processed quorn is where there are sauce or breadcrumbs or it's a sausage or such. If it's plain I think it should count for SP.
I checked the book and there is a Q on EESP 'Can I still have other Free Foods on SP days?' It says 'Absolutely. If you're hankering for a banana or a jacket spud for lunch, go right ahead! But to truly power up your weight loss stick with SP!'
So I'm claiming an SP day for yesterday despite the fillets and sweetcorn :rotfl:
I don't think cutting any major food group out of your diet is a good idea tbh. Your body needs simple and complex carbs, so sugar and starches, plus protein and fat. We probably all need to cut back on sugar and fat a little else we wouldn't be overweight, but doing without them entirely can't be a good thing. I'd also fail at SW if I couldn't use my syns for chocolate sometimes. Although I also fail to moderate the chocolate on occasions, hence why I've got a couple of gains in recent weeks:heartpuls Daughter born January 2012 :heartpuls Son born February 2014 :heartpuls

Ahh ok, I might ask at class then as I wouldn't consider the fillets any more processed than the pieces.
I would take the no processed quorn products to mean sausages, burgers and the flavoured escalopes type products.
Funny how we all interpret things differently
Also thanks for the info on the food diary, but I meant one that you could fill in online, that way everything is is in the drop down menus and there's a lot more choice than what's shown in the books, especially for HeB's.
Right really am off to sleep now, got caught up on Instagram
xx
I think fillets have additional ingredients in them, such as flour. as only the chunks and mince are classed as gluten free0 -
Too busy meal planning to read all of the posts ive missed
there are a lot of questions and i suppose this is due to the timing of the introduction when the classes are short or staggered. Most of us will have our talks this next week - our group has been compiling a Q&A and they are being texted and added to our facebook page so that the consultant can find out as much as she can from head office before this weeks class - otherwise next week will be all Q's and no A's.
So far I am using the new book but sticking to EE. Onward and downward fellow losersSo you're Red John? I have to say I'm a little disappointed.0 -
good morning
I'm completely new to mse and slimming world.
there's no club near me but I've read loads of good things about it.
I'm currently 12 stone 13. And seriously unhappy with my weight. I'm 5 9 , never been this big and drinking far too much over Xmas.
i wish to join in an 8 week challenge and lose 16lbs at least
i cant get the font to change0 -

That's a good idea by your consultant.. saves everyone shouting them out at class and interrupting the talk..
Flea - i understand now why they might be different, thanks for that.
Jamie - welcome.. there's the breakdown of the plan in the first few posts but feel free to ask any questionsmaman will be able to answer them
:rotfl:
Menu for today - EE
b - 1/2 bowl of porridge (3 syns) not really that hungry but i'm cold
L - bacon, lettuce sandwich (heb) low Mayo (1) Apple/quark dip
T - leftover cottage pie, cabbage, carrots, gravy (2)
S - satsumas, milk (hea) crisps (4-5)
So it would be an EESP day but I have proper mash on the cottage pie so it's just a powered up EE day insteadMortgage amount at 31/12/2011 £166,050 now £0 as at Sept 21 - 15yrs 4 months early.0 -

Not sure it was her idea - poor woman - one or two asked questions and it just sort of gathered momentum - and there will always be someone in class who still interrupts and another who still can not understand
But yes we are lucky she is one of the better consultants :TSo you're Red John? I have to say I'm a little disappointed.0 -
Morning everyone - hello jamiegem :hello: and welcome (I'm quite new to the thread so feel a bit presumptuous saying welcome but as I'm posting right next to you I'll go ahead and say it!
I managed to eat only free foods last night even though I had a terrible desire to jump off the wagon, set fire to it and cook deep fried mars bars on the embers.
This morning I still have a bit of that desire left, but am going for damage limitation. I've had two wholemeal pittas (will count one as a HEB) with scrambled egg, and I did use about 40g butter as well so lots of syns already. What's good about that is that 40g is about half what I've been slathering on lately!
I think I will be showing a gain at tomorrow evening's weigh in, but as it's a fresh start with the new year, new plan talk and all, I'll draw a line under the past and soldier on!
I don't know why I can be so in control during term time but lose it so badly in the holidays. Maybe it's as simple as the fact that I don't have time to scoff so much
Well done Wiz - it's all in the right direction!
Thanks to those posting their trials with the new plan as well, it is inspiring and motivating to hear how you're doing.I believe in the freedom of spinach and the right to arm bears.
