    Hello,
Thanks for the welcome! There are some fab losses on here to inspire me, I'll try and stay on the straight and narrow[maybe get even narrower!] Ha ha.
Well, I braved group this morning to collect the new plan book. The weather was dreadful! It was really busy, lots of newbies like me I think, they had to put out a load of extra chairs! I felt a bit guilty as I only signed on , and then left straight away, as I've said ,I'm not fond of group, I 'm quite quiet, and find lots of people I don't know stress me out. I'll not go back next week, I like it on here more!
I haven't had time to read the new book much yet, I've been de-Christmasing the house, it looks rather bare now, but nice and tidy! I'll work out a proper plan tomorrow, and make a list of what I need to buy. I find I lose more weight when I have soup everyday to fill me at lunchtime. I have leeks, so will make some leek and potato soup tomorrow. it's the right weather for it anyway!
    Goodnight, see you tomorrow.

Flea could I please ask if your consultant told you that? I know the book says mince and pieces, but I'd interpret pieces as fillets or the bags of "chicken" chunks they sell...

Would love to have a definite answer.. It's so confusing especially as the website hasn't got a food diary to fill in to help..

We haven't even had our talk yet :( it won't be till next Thursday.

Mich - thanks for the review and piccies.. They look nice, can't wait to do some carrots with a bit of ginger and garlic

I've come to bed early, feeling rough as a badgers bum. at least I have the day off tomorrow :j have a good night's kip everyone, ready for an on plan day tomorrow!!

Ohh and Welcome to the board and challenge Sally

Oh also, just reading back about yogurt, you can have quark instead of yogurt on an SP day.. Mich had it the other day with White choc options stirred in,(2 syns) I've had it with the Belgian choc (2syns)and also a bit of vanilla and sweetener (free)is nice too.. I'm not keen on yogurt to be honest, prefer the quark :D

Hi, can I join in please?

I've been doing SW for nearly 3 years and had lost nearly 4 stones but over the last year I've lost the plot and allowed a stone to creep back on!

I still have 3 stones to get to my eventual target but break this down into smaller chunks

I work full time with lots of evening meetings (sometimes at short notice!) so struggle to stick to a routine but try to keep things in the fridge for grazing and make sure I have a good breakfast and take HM soup to work for lunch with fruit for snacks.

My plan is to save all my syns for the evening to cover emergencies! I always make sure I have a treat everyday to sustain the diet.

I'd like to join the 8 week challenge and try for 12lb to get down into the next stone bracket.

Looking forward to seeing everyone's progress! :j

No my consultant hasnt said anything, but the website does say no processed quorn products, so if they state only mince/chunks, then i would assume fillets is a no too, otherwise they would say so.

a printable food diary is on the website

Ahh ok, I might ask at class then as I wouldn't consider the fillets any more processed than the pieces.

I would take the no processed quorn products to mean sausages, burgers and the flavoured escalopes type products.

Funny how we all interpret things differently :)

Also thanks for the info on the food diary, but I meant one that you could fill in online, that way everything is is in the drop down menus and there's a lot more choice than what's shown in the books, especially for HeB's.

Right really am off to sleep now, got caught up on Instagram :o

    Hi all
Lack of carbs is making me a very grumpy lady! However I'm determined to carry on as I badly need to lose this week and EE doesn't do it for me.
I posted yesterday's SP menu on my group's FB page and my consultant and two members from my consultant's other group both told me well done, that was really good. So if it's ok I would like to share as an example? I haven't been very well today :( so my menu today hasn't been as virtuous but yesterday's was good. Something is working though- according to my scales ive dropped 3lb since Monday but unfortunately lack of carbs does not agree with me- ive felt yacky all this week!
B: HEXB Weetabix with HEXA s/s and 2 x S satsumas, pint of NAS
    L: 1/2 a plate S salad, 1/2 a plate P Ham. 2 S Apples, pint of NAS
    Snack: HEXB 2 Alpen Light
T: Quorn bolognaise made with P Quorn mince, S passata, P five mixed beans, S red onions. 1 pack Milkybar mini buttons (4.5 syns) mini Crunchie (4 Syns) Freddo (5 syns) pint of NAS
S: 1/2 a plate broccoli, carrots, cauliflower, baby corn, sprouts- S 1/2 a plate tuna. Pint of NAS.
Was quite proud of that :) Im away tomorrow and have planned carefully- were eating out but I'm having grilled salmon, green beans and salad so I'm going to try and be really good!
    Night all xx

Woah! I forgot how quick this thread moves!

I've spent on the last couple of hours catching up and gathering info on the new plan. I don't think I will bother with it but will stick to green and EE as I know I can do those. Shopping list and meal plans written so good to go from Monday

For what it's worth I agree with Shala that Quorn fillets are the same as pieces as they are both just plain Quorn. I would class any product that has anything added to it e.g nuggets as processed

I get the impression once you start adding in things that arent Speed or Protein you arent following an SP day, so lose the associated benefits. From the stuff ive read, syns are better than free food if following SP. So eating sweetcorn turns it into an EE day, as its Free. Whereas chocolate is ok, as it has a quantified calorie/fat value that is synd

I'm another that can't see the chunks/fillet argument. To me it's a bit like buying chicken breasts for a curry and then cutting them up. But as I don't eat Quorn I'm not really in a position to comment.:o

I'd say that adding in free foods would dilute the benefit rather than lose it. So you have true SP at one end and EE (with only a third of S stipulated) at the other. To me that anything that leans towards the SP end is beneficial.

Ironically, lots (most?) of the old Speed/Superspeed foods which enhanced weightloss are now the P foods like fish, meat, pulses. If you simplify an average/typical meal to meat (P), veg (S) and potatoes (F) then that's an EE meal. If you cut out the potatoes it's a SP meal but with just one potato it's closer to SP (and so more beneficial) than a third of a plate.

I think it's going to be pretty difficult to get the 50/50 balance at every meal, but as long as it averages out over the day it should be fine. I very rarely eat protein for breakfast so I'm going to aim for 50/50 over the course of the day.

I've done averaging over the day with EE all along whiplashy and that's worked so you may well be right. I almost never have any S food with breakfast but make up for it later.

MrsR has made it nice and simple with half a plate of each.

    Morning Peeps,

Good Morning Britain on ITV are starting their 'NO SUGAR' diet plan as of tomorrow with that Dishy chap from America. I also see Davina McCall has a new book out that is SUGAR FREE so I think this may be the new 'thing'.

I'm interested to know what you all think? I know I defo have a problem with sweets and chocolate. Not interested in cake or biscuits or alcohol or cheese, but chocolate and sweets are my downfall. I've gone cold turkey before and had NO SUGAR for months, and obviously lost weight, but I crave and crave it and then I binge on it once I get a taste again. The addiction never goes away.

I have found, that in line with the SW principles of 'no food is banned', that if I have one treat of chocolate every evening, I can keep the cravings at bay. I have a cupboard full of my favourite bars, I keep it well stocked, I look at it frequently, I sniff it often in passing, and it makes me happy.

So SUGAR FREE is not for me. What do you all think? Could you give it up and not miss it? Or like me, would that be the road to ruin?
