Maman my issues with the plans are that I don't seem to be losing any weight! Not sure where I'm going wrong, as I said the first time I did SW the weight seemed to fall off and this time (and every other time) I'm getting nowhere - I've lost 4lbs in 4 weeks currently. I think it would be worse if I had the extra HEX's - I'm currently synning them so that I'm not having them plus the 15 syns a day. Not sure what a syn bank is though?

It seems to crack my consultant up when I mention green plan so I just leave it alone tbh. They don't mention red / green days at all any more when you join.

EDIT it's just been pointed out to me that the first time I did slimming world i went swimming almost every day. I just don't have time to do much exercise at the moment, I'm so swamped with college work. Grrrrrrr. Think I need to get my fat lazy bum to the gym every day and see if that makes a difference!!!!!

Daisy, I am by no means an expert, but when I saw your today's menu, it seamed rather heavy on protein/grains/beans/potatoes?
    Daisy2014 wrote: »
B: baked oats (hexa/b) with choc highlight (2) and raspberries
L: Small bowl split pea soup, tomato pasta and salad
D: Quorn cottage pie (HM, 4 syns for butter in mash and gravy) beans and veg

Got loads of speed fruit and think I will have a small wholemeal roll with the soup (5 syns). Aiming for 3 litres of diluting juice.

I know, it is all within the SW parameters, but maybe it is not the right combination for you? Also, juice is not free, if I remember from SW class days - even if you dilute it, it still has sugar (although natural). What about substituting it with NAS cordial or herbal tea?

I am not the best advocate as I am not losing much either, but that is just what jumped out at me when I saw your menu for today.

Losing 4lb in 4 weeks isn't bad - SW quotes 1-2 lb per week so you are certainly within the normal range of loss.

I only ever lost 1/2-1 lb a week whilst getting to target. It takes time to get them but you will get there in the end if you persevere.

As to exercise I've never done any regular exercise. My exercise consists mainly of walking round the shops to do the grocery shopping a couple of times a week:rotfl:. Although I do do a bit of gardening once the warmer weather arrives - although I have actually done about half hour this morning doing a bit of digging but gave up because it was too wet and very heavy - clay soil in my area unfortunately.

salduck, I think you've made good choices for eating away from home. Being able to have things with dressing on the side is really helpful then you can choose what to add. Have a good time.:)

First I'd say that having exercise isn't essential to losing weight. There are obvious benefits but lots of people who have mobility issues lose on SW.

Consultants haven't advocated Green or Red for some years now but they only recently disappeared from the books. It's just that Green has worked for many people, especially vegetarians, and it has the advantage of the extra HEXs.

Some of us use a syn bank in that instead of having 15 syns a day we start the week with a total of 105 and subtract from that through the week. It's not an official method but it's worked for me and others. I have loads of syns from Friday evening to Sunday and then eat almost syn free during the week. So, if you've had a really heavy weekend of syns then that's what I meant by not having any left to syn the roll but it doesn't matter because you're allowed it on Green.

I think having the sort of menus that you've posted today should be fine but I'm critical of the SW 'fill your boots' with free food argument so I think you're wise to have your Speed food alongside the free food although it's supposedly not essential on Green. What ginvzt said is true but only you know whether the salad, raspberries and veg add up to at least a third of your food for the day which they must on EE.

HTH and do keep posting your menus.:)

Another 'messed about Monday' here. DH has a teatime meeting so we need to eat before he goes out as I'll be out before he gets back IYSWIM. So only planning two meals. I'll have an apple if I'm hungry beforehand and maybe a snack later too.

    My EE plan:
B: NAS Ribena, HEB toast, HEA milk, 2 fried eggs
L/D: sausages, mash, red cabbage, broccoli, green cabbage, peas
    Snacks: apple, cottage cheese, ham
Syns: 2 for sausages, gravy, squirt of HP sauce

A bit light on Speed food but we've run out of onions after myweekend cooking marathon. I might saute a few spring onions instead.

Thank you Ginzvt! The diluting juice is the NAS cordial, I maybe never made that clear enough, I steer well clear of fruit juice!!!

Being veggie, I find it really hard to get protein in my diet...I eat quite a lot of quorn but I'm not very keen on eggs and cheese has to be synned if not used as the HEX. Maybe if I stopped having things like porridge and tried something different for breakfast I would get a bit further.

My blood sugar tends to drop pretty quickly if I don't get the carbs in, and I get really HANGRY and end up running to the shop at college for chocolate to try and sort it

I think this week I might switched to cooked breakfasts (quorn sausages, frylight fried egg and beans) and use the HEXA for a different source of protein and the B for wholemeal bread. We have a two week break coming up, I think it'll be easier to lay off the carbs when I'm home during the day to be honest but.

Thank you for your input xxx

Call the midwife yeah the bigger one is a lesbian there was a gay man story line the other week and it was shocking really ...

Sooooo sw wise I've made a decision ... As I've been the same weight for months now gaining n then losing the same 3lb - next week I'm calling target - purely for financial reasons really as I'm really struggling at the mo and have the possibility of having to pay for a solicitor over court regarding mini and her 'fathers' access to her so I'm calling target and may be playing the target game til I get to my real target...

I think that is the right decision for you Mildredd at this time.
I was just advising one of the girls in my class to do the same.

I often have that problem too - you could carry a banana around with you in case of it happening. Bananas are a good source of fruit sugar and you get an instant 'hit', that's why tennis players eat them during matches.

Lakeland do a banana box which protects them and stops them ending up bruised at the bottom of your bag.

Yes, I saw that one. Shocking to think you could be arrested and jailed or being homosexual.

That's where SW differs from WW in that you can call target when you want to, you don't have to be what they deem to be the correct weight.

How do you play the target game? I know you need to stay within 3 lbs either way but if you still want to lose more, what happens?

I was quite fortunate when I attended a group, I never plateau'd for more than a couple of weeks at a time and when I got to target I stopped going (big mistake).

Lois from what I've picked up from numerous sources - call target but aim to keep losing... Once u fall out the bottom 3lb of grace declare u want to change target from original target to one 7lb lower - so 4lb out the bottom of target window... Get a weeks free grace to alter back to original target n then maybe pay for a couple of weeks...
But at the mo my head is filled with a million n one things that food n counting syns is off the to do list really :/

I agree, mildredd. You have to do what's best for you and your family right now.

When you're ready, you could do the plan without going to class if you want to try to keep losing. Unfortunately in class, as you told lois, you have to pay as soon as you drop 3lbs below the range. You could always rejoin in the future at whatever weight you are then. I'd be surprised if you forget all the healthy eating principles whether you're following the plan officially or not.

Are you still planning to run a home group for the BF's family?

I managed to find swede and carrot in the cupboard so Speed food looked better with my meal.
