    Thanks Maman

This is tomorrows menu. I'd really appreciate your thoughts!

    B = 2 x Weetabix (b) with Strawberries & skimmed milk (from a)
L = Ploughmans lunch with ham, cucumber sticks, cherry tomatoes, celery sticks, gherkins
    S = Muller light, melon
D = homemade chilli made in slow cooker with lean steak, kidney beans, tomatoes, peppers served with broccoli
If I need a snack in the evening I’ll have a pink n white or maybe an Options hot chocolate

    Amy

That looks fine amy. I'm assuming no bread with the ploughmans and do have your snack. I'd really recommend having all/most of your syns every week. You can always cut back a bit when you get closer to target if you slow down. I like 'luxury' chilli made with steak but 5% mince is much cheaper. 750g packs in Asda are best value AFAIK.

I will wait for the books, as you say, red and green is from the old system so that has thrown a spanner in my initial calculations.

Looks like we only calculate syns from the syns list :), lets hope the books help me more.

Does Gluten free spagetti/pasta from Kelkin have the same syns as normal wheat pasta? I cannot find this info online.

I'm told the Green and Original (Red) plans are being phased out but they still appear on the website albeit not updated. Green is still particularly popular with vegetarians (and others) as you can have up to 2 HEAs and 2 HEBs.

The website is by far the best source for syn values as it's kept up to date.

I can't find Kelkin brand pasta on the website but all other dried, gluten free pastas are free so I'm assuming that's free as well.

Thinking I may have a wee gain tomorrow night as I had a good loss last week due to the lurgy.
I good friend died yesterday so I am not too fussy anyway.

    Evening all

Sorry to hear of your losses Beanie and BEG. Losing friends makes you aware of your own mortality; my grown up son and daughter are in the phase of their lives where they are more likely to attend an engagement, wedding or christening than a funeral but DH and I have had more funerals to go to in the last few years than anything else.

It really strengthens my resolve to lose weight as I know there are far more health risks associated with being overweight. Having been overweight all my life I'm probably lucky to have got this far without any major problems, but that's not going to last forever.

Just watching Junk Food Kids on Channel 4 and 10 minutes in I'm getting really annoyed with the parents - one child having bariatric surgery and a 4 year old having all his baby teeth out because of eating too many sweets.

I must have been a cruel mother, I made sure my children had healthy food and restricted the amount of sweets they were allowed.

    Anyone else watching?

You're right ! You definitely don't want to give up. It's usual to lose a lot to start with and then settle into a smaller loss but not to the extent you have. If you've got time, post your menus (ideally in advance) and we'll see if we can find something to tweak that's perhaps not quite right. Meanwhile keep eating your greens!:)

And dont forget you need to keep drinking! I am guilty of this, as I can go with one cup of coffee from morning until evening and then just have a cup of herbal tea for dinner. I am better when I am at work, as it is a chance to ran away from the desk!

B: quark, yogurt, raisins with Finn Crisp slices, coffee
L: veg stew (third day in the row, hope to finifh today...)
    D: risotto with veg

And I try to get more drinks in me today...

    Welcome Amy

As Maman said above hope you're not having bread with the ploughmans, although having said that if you could get a 60g wholemeal roll with it you could have that as you have plenty of syns available: the roll would be 6 syns.

Syns are definitely an important part of the plan and you really should try to be using them with a minimum of 5 a day, although to start with it is probably better to have between 10 and 15 a day.

You could also have both the pink n white (2.5 syns) AND the Options hot chocolate (2 syns).

Even if you had all these syns you'd still be well within syns for the day.

You certainly won't lose more weight by not having them.

    HTH.

WI for me this morning. Have had a good week so hoping for a small loss to take me a bit nearer to bottom end!

    Another EE day today:

B - banana, grapes: after WI
L - beans on toast; fruit (don't know what yet as need to go shopping!)
D - duck & pancakes with salad. Anyone have any idea how many syns for the mini pancakes from the chinese shop? As they're only very small I'm going with 2 syns each. Will also need to syn some hoisin sauce, probably a couple of Tbs so 3 syns.

HEA - milk in tea throughout the day
    HEB - toast
    Syns: chinese pancakes @ 2 each = 6? 2 x Tbs hoisin sauce = 3

Back later with result of WI!

    Hi Salduck

I think Shala mentioned something about launching the next challenge tomorrow so look out for a post from her.

The current challenge ends on Sunday so the next will probably run for 6/8 weeks from Monday.

  • Morning all! Wow, didn't check in yesterday and have about 10 pages to catch up on! Well done to all the losers and welcome to anyone who's just joined :j

I weighed in yesterday and got 1.5 off, was a bit disappointed after cutting out the bread but it's coming into ladies week for me so guess I should be pleased I got any sort of loss at all! Celebrated with McDonalds because I was starving after the weigh in, felt sick for the rest of the day.

    B: Weetabix (hexa/b) banana
    L: Tomato pasta and salad
D: Not sure yet, probably just a baked potato and salad as I'm swamped with college work at the moment, don't have time to be cooking

Hope you all have a great day!!xxx
