On the subject of our fat cows - I thought that since the bse crisis all cows in this country have to be slaughtered by 30 months and they actually don't have time to build up loads of fat layers.

I have a dim memory of there being some story about burger joints like maccyds having to import fat to add to british beef so they could make burgers as the meat was too lean otherwise.

Wish I could find a source for this but google is failing me right now, I'm a bit too sleepy after my huge breakfast (and lunch and possibly dinner too!).

    Ok this was my brunch:

Leftover chick pea and veg soup from last night, with added water, marigold stock, spinach, peas and a handful w/m pasta. Followed by mushroom and onion omelette and salad.

I am using a sprayer/mister and olive oil to dress the salad and grease the pans, but in 4 days I could not even have used a tablespoon, it is difficult to quantify, but it is minimal. Anyway, for honesty's sake I am counting 2 syns per day, even if I doubt it would registe as a teaspoon a day.

I recall someone on this thread saying that they use an oil mister spray and don't count, can't remember who said it, if you read this, how is it working for you? Thank you.

Confirmed with my birthday friend that she is making bean and veg stew and a pot of rice so I shall be ok, also as everybody contributes I shall bring a nice bowl of fruit and be in there when the cakes are served. Please please wish me luck, I MUST crack the 85 Kg barrier by next Wednesday!
Finally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).

    Thanks everyone,

I may try a list and plan it my help once its out of my head.

That's what I do too. I write my meal plan and shopping list and then I don't need to think about it until the following week.

Like tweets, I don't really exercise either except for one dance class a week and I was doing that before SW anyway.

Good to see you posting flutterby. Now the house move is over you can get back to it with a vengeance. You should lose those pounds quickly, a bit like after a holiday.:)

b-e-g, I did a SW spiced pork chop recipe this week and it was incredibly watery. I had to rescue it by pouring most of the 'sauce' ( more like greasy water) off and drying the meat out to make it palatable. Another recipe I won't be repeating.

    My EE menu for today:
B: NAS Ribena, kippers, HEB bread, HEA milk for teas
L: 2 fried eggs, fried potatoes, slice of ham, mushrooms
    D: Lancashire hotpot with greens
Syns: scrape of spread and weekend wine:D

A bit short of SFs through the day but I'll make up for it tonight. The hotpot will have onions, celery, leeks, carrots, mushrooms and I'll do cabbage as well.

I always use a spray for oil. I did try frylight initially but didn't like it.

I find it has worked well for me, not least by saving me a lot on the grocery budget no glugs of oil for frying or deep frying now, bought an airfryer which is great I am now at my original target but am attempting to go a bit lower just to see how it goes, older skin dosent go back like it used too.

I find I am using so little that I don't bother to count it as syns now.

Haven't been posting (though I read sometimes) partly because I've had lots of naughty days lately (I also haven't been doing my food logs for group either...). But found out despite being so naughty of late I did lose 1lb, so I'm happy with that! 1 more lb to go till I'm under 10 stone (I'm very short so my target weight is 8 stone).

Highlight of SW this week was trying the Moroccan lamb recipe from the Extra Easy cookbook (the yellow one). Really enjoyed it, doubled recipe and got plenty of portions so have frozen 3 meals worth (6 portions) and had it 2 days in a row (total 5 meals!). Pity couscous doesn't freeze well so I'll have to remake that next time but at least that's quick to make. Never made couscous before was surprised at how simple it was!
Trying to lose weight (13.5lb to go)

Thank you Meg72, it must have been you who mentioned the oil spray before, I shall keep counting 2 syns per day just in case but will not stress too much if I go slightly above.

I went shopping for my friend's birthday gift and food contributions and apart from the juices that she asked for, a no-no for me, I bought two nice Galia melons, they will do pudding very nicely for my needs.

While shopping I had quite a big drop in blood sugar and felt lightheaded and shaky. I had to call DH to pick me up as I could not walk up the hill with the heavy trolley and feeling like that. I suspect it is eating so few calories that caused it as I am saving all my hexes and syns for tonight. So I bought a pot of Yeo Valley 0% lemon yogurt (3 syns for 450g) and once home I had 2/3 of the pot on a banana and strawberries. That stuff is magic! 2 syns and it tastes like the creamiest lemon custard, absolute bliss, and I am feeling better now, well enough to wait until I get there and tuck into the beans and rice dinner.

Tonights tea was Chicken Tikka Masala

    2nu4ztk.jpg

I didn't like it I found the sauce to spicy for me and quite a lot of it.
Would serve 2 this meal but you wouldn't get much chicken each.
Chicken tasted better than the chicken in yesterdays Singapore Noodles.
Todays veg was carrot and swede :)

I threw most of the sauce away that's how bad I thought it was :(

That actually looks really nice, and I like a bit of sauce with curry, but I would have had rice with it to mop up.
