To be honest I was thinking about what I could eat today to make it eesp and frankly it feels like planning a diet :(

That was worrying me too. I think I'm just going to keep soaking up the information and do my own thing. If there's one plus that's coming from it I'm more conscious of portion size with potatoes. Last night we had some swede and carrot mash (mainly as I wanted to practise making it) and so not all potatoes were eaten.

whiplashy, most speed soup recipes I've seen are full of beans (literally!;)) so unless you want lentils I'm sure there's be plenty of P food in there anyway.

frogga, Green is still on the website so no problem keeping going with it. It might be worth taking note of the changes to the S (Speed food, formerly SF) and focusing more on those than the fruits on the 'old' list. And filling yourself up on the P (Protein) foods like your famous beans rather than too many potatoes/rice/pasta. So (for veggies) they're saying roughly that a meal of veg & pulses is better than the same meal with potatoes. HEXs as normal I think but I haven't checked amounts.

I'd never heard of Katie Hopkins until she hit the headlines with those horrible ebola tweets she made the other day. She seems thoroughly obnoxious.

    Today's EE plan:
B: NAS Ribena, HEB bread, kippers
    L: ham, pickles, fried potato
S: baked haddock, new potatoes, cauliflower/broccoli cheese
Syns: scrape of spread, wine syns and cheese sauce.

High syn today but I haven't had cauli cheese for a couple of months so it'll be a treat. I'm going easy on milk so some of sauce can come from HEA.;)

You're right, she is the most obnoxious person in the world. She will have a go at anyone and anything and isn't interested in anyone's opinion but her own.

Google her being interviewed on Good Morning and talking to Holly Willoughby about how she wouldn't let her children mix with children with trendy or geographical names - and she has a child called India. I thought Holly was going to hit her! :rotfl:

She became '[STRIKE]in[/STRIKE]famous' after winning the Apprentice about 5 years ago and then refusing Lord Sugar's job offer. I think she only went on the programme to get herself into the limelight, and she's never gone away since. The trouble is, the media allow her to use them as a platform.

I hope she gets into trouble for her tweets about the ebola nurse though, that was a callous thing to say about someone who has taken such risks to help those less fortunate.

Well done Mich :j That's a brilliant loss. I'm close to 4 stone loss so hope I can join you in celebrating in the next week or two.

I didn't hear the Katie Hopkins thing. She's one of those people I don't think should be allowed the oxygen of publicity and frankly this all smacks of a publicity stunt. She's said some really nasty stuff in the past that made me wonder if she should even be allowed the oxygen of oxygen :rotfl:

How does this strike you lovelies as a Veggie eesp day? (Part way through eating it)

B: Branflakes & Milk (HEB & some of an HEA)
    S: Alpen light (3)
L: SW mini quiches with leek, courgette & pepper served with a side of the rest of the veg as it didn't all fit in the baking dish and mixed bean salad.
Wholemeal roll and butter (HEB & 5)
    S: satsumas & apple
D: Quorn fillets baked in a load of veg in a passata sauce. Seriously, it's loads of veg, probably easily 50/50 SP
Drinks: coffee, tea (using rest of HEA), water, Vimto with dinner (2)

The only flaw I can see is that there is sweetcorn in both the mixed bean salad and the veg sauce for dinner, but then I love the stuff and I don't care if it's only free!

I've been on SW for 6 months now - this is the first time I've made the mini quiches. Will certainly not be the last, they are lovely and I made 12 so more for tomorrow :D

    Hi All!

New to MSE as you can see, and kind of new to SW... i've played with it for a while but not seriously. Bucking my ideas up for 2015 and have rejoined with a new determination, I have a hefty amount to lose, so I'll be around for the long haul! :j
  • Welcome aboard Daisy. Do you fancy joining in our new 8 week challenge starting on Monday (no pressure you understand) ;)? If you fancy joining in this time just post what your target loss you are aiming for (in red, big and bold) so that shala will be able to pick it up and include it in our brand spanking new chart. Good luck :)

I've never actually used a receipe for speed soup. I used to just throw whatever random S veg that was in the fridge into a pot and boil it up. Did the same today but dumped some lentils in too. Might try some kidney beans next time.

Picked up my copy of the mirror today and have the cupon for my SW group all ready for Tuesday.

Have made a lamb casserole yesterday so will freeze portions of that to go with the pasta sauce, chicken and lentil casserole and the cowboy hotpot that I made earlier in the week. I will make a keema curry tomorrow and that should be us set for some quick meals.

Congrats to those having weigh in's and losing already. Everyone seems to have done well over the festive period.

Hello to the newbies nice to have you on board.

I think that may happen as sadly, the Scottish nurse has taken a turn for the worse.

I've never had it myself but there are lots of recipes around for Speed Soup. People use it to er.....'get them going' IYWSIM. It has baked beans and all sorts of veg in it usually.

My favourite is lentil soup made from ham stock with carrots, onions and leeks so quite SP really. Unfortunately no room in the freezer or I'd have made some with the Christmas gammon. I hated throwing the stock away.

That menu looks fairly well balanced crabapple. If it's not 50% quorn you could always add some red beans or peas to the veg sauce. I think I'm going to be adding peas to lots of things as although we eat meat we only have small amounts. It always seems strange to me that baby sweetcorn is S but bog standard tinned isn't.

Forgot that I'd taken a portion of chicken curry out for lunch. It wasn't up to much but it was a SW recipe so I ate it.
