Was it on here that I read about the Debenhams personal shopper thingie? Has anyone been on one, did it help you with self image, help you realise how to understand what suits your body shape and did you have to buy things? Or was it mentioned in my sw group I wonder?
I'm having an odd few days, was way off track with the diet yesterday, had a very sweet offer of a seat on the tube yesterday when I'm not pregnant (oh dear) and was going through a 'diversity and inclusion' module at work today and was reflecting on a b*tchy, alienating boss I used to have who once said I looked nice in a lift lobby and promptly said as he got in a lift with someone else on the team "for a middle aged mother of two" as a snide dig (I was only 27 at the time!)
I grew up not being allowes to wear make up and finding it easier to make friends with boys so I grew up quite a tom boy.
But I find myself as an adult struggling with my self image. Wanting to look femine but feeling like a chunky tom boy in office shift dresses during the week and living in jeans and t'shirts at the weekend. High heels kane my feet so it's wobbling on kitten heels at the most lol
So I guess my question is, those of you who have managed to overcome self image issues, how did you manage it and did a stranger in a shop doing a free personal shopper session help?
Rereading the above, I'm guessing my hormones are all over the shop at the moment :rotfl:
It was me that mentioned Debenhams personal shopper and it was a good experience from the sense that she made outfit suggestions that I probably wouldn't have chosen myself. However she didn't really take my body shape into account, just my size and height (I'm 5' 11").
I wouldn't say it helped, and if you're very self conscious it might be hard to do as she is outside the cubicle when you try the clothes on so although you don't have to show yourself wearing it, you feel you should.
I think body issues are common in a lot of women (and men, but less so) and there's a whole area of discussion you could get into to explain it, the media being partly responsible, but appearance is something we are all judged on whether fairly or not and we are our own worst critics.
When I was in my teens I thought I was enormous. Now, I would give anything to be the size I was then!
A woman I know through work is always denying herself treats because she thinks she's fat. One day I said 'I wish I was as fat as you are' - she gave me a funny look as if I was being nasty but she didn't mention being fat again!
We all compare ourselves to others but the truth is we are the way we are - I'm never going to be a petite size 10! - so we have to accept what we are, not try to be something we're not.
The man who made the horrible remark obviously hurt your feelings, but does his opinion matter?
The one thing that gives me confidence is knowing that the people who love me, do so regardless of how much I weigh. Keep that in mind - no one else matters.

Morning all
Well, I was nearly as saintly as I'd planned to be last night - ate before I went and didn't have sausage, chips and beans and I'm glad as they looked very greasy! However I saved a white bread roll and ate it with butter when we got home (it was lovely!).
We've got friends coming for dinner tonight so at least I can make it as SW friendly as possible, just have to try not to have too many wine syns.
Sorry to hear about your SIL mumoftwo .
Hope you're recovering from your fall Beanie.
WI for me tomorrow, a STS will be a relief tbh!
Have a good day everyone.

BlueeyedGirl, I would need to start feeling the love because I am not going backwards, believe me its just not something I could let happen. I couldn’t do it all again there is just no way, mentally I would be a mess and I would have no clothes to fit me at all!!!
Awful horrid snow here today, I am swing from being an avergage girly girl to a tramp I guess but have to be in the mood to make an effort, I am not at the minute!!

If I say to anyone that 'this is it this time - it's not going back on' I can almost feel them thinking 'Yeh right - heard that one before'. The thing is I am soon to be nearer to 60 than 50  and all these extra pounds are not good. Health has been reasonable so far (touching wood) considering how I have abused it over the years with all the extra poundage. Feeling great so far so if I can shift some more I may feel even greater. One thing I do find funny is comments like - 'Eh you look lovely - you don't need to lose any more do you' - Whaaaat - at just under 15.5st and size 18-20 I think there maybe a little bit more to lose. :rotfl:
Please don't feel too left out blinkered - you can have some of our snow if you like - we are just below you and I could pop some up for you:rotfl: I hate it, hate it, hate it - but what I hate even more is when it starts to go and then gets icy
Stay safe everyone,
