Hi all I am thinking about joining SW I need to make some major changes to my lifestyle and this seems to be the best way to get it done, I will have to do the online option as the classes in my area dont fit in with my work/kids timetable. Does anyone here do the online program and how do they find it? (I went to some meetings many moons ago and tbh they made me uncomfortable). I have a thyroid problem(controlled with tablets) and am an insulin dependent type 2 diabetic who at my last weight check was 113kg (am too scared to convert this into stones atm:() the only good thing to come out of my review is that my blood pressure is within target.

    Welcome Elly :)

Not personally done online but I know a few have. Lots seem to take a few months and then go it alone, but with help from this thread :D

SW eating is good for diabetics but don't do the SP plan - stick to EE. There's a load of explanation and some recipes one page one of this thread to get you started.

  • I've lost 3lb in 3 weeks but I'm sure it shows my heart just hasn't been 100% in it so I'm taking the fact I lost rather than gained as a blessing!

When I first did SW I lost almost 5st in just 26 weeks never reporting a gain and I think more than 50% of my success was just down to having my head in the game and whilst I'm accountable on here it's not the same as going to a group so I am toying with the idea of needing to going back however I literally can't afford it right now :(

Today is pay day so a new grocery month; I am going to go to Iceland, probably on Monday, and get some frozen fish sticks etc as I do well with having those to snack on. I am also going to start hard boiling a few eggs on a Sunday and leaving them in their shell in the fridge as I love a hard boiled egg as a snack and I'm sure they would last until Friday in the fridge (I will be doing them to take to work).

Lunches at work will now be:
Tuesday: frittata - eggs, tinned/sliced potatoes, peas, onions, mushrooms and whatever other veg I have that will go with those
Wednesday: homemade soup (leek and potato or mixed veg)
Thursday: jacket potato with beans/tuna/etc and salad
    Friday: pasta salad

breakfasts are easy: ready brek or wheat biscuits (both HeB options) or fruit salad (with or without yogurt) or omelette bites. I'm seriously lacking in evening meal inspiration which tends to be where I aim to use my syns. I made a meal plan for the month as bf is picky but I'm sure there's way more options that he'd eat which I just don't have on there! Need to rack my brains big time

Welcome to newbies, hugs for those who need them. Well done to the "losers" (that really doesn't sound right, does it?).

Yet another EE day for me today:

    B - mushroom omlette
L - sandwich with HEB bread - either ham salad or BLT - will see what I fancy later
D - fish pasta bake - with salmon, smoked haddock, whiting & prawns. Will have to syn the cheese sauce as can't stand any of the SW ones! Have got a cheese sauce mix in the cupboard so that'll be 3 syns (1/3 of sauce)

    HEA - milk
    HEB - bread
Syns - cheese sauce 3; mayo (instead of spread) 0.5; weekend wine:D

    Thank you all.
Feel like ive been hit by a truck today.
Ive amended my sig to try to explain. The first part is to do with, as some of you may know, the rugby player I sponsor who announced the devastating news that he was forced to retire at the age of 24 due to a head injury that he was unable to recover from. Absolutely devastated for him- have spent the best part of yesterday crying. This is very sad for me for a number of reasons too much to go into on here although thank god he is alive. It is a massive loss but thankfully not in that way.
However the second part refers to my friend who died suddenly a year ago and I miss her still every day.
    Thanks all xx
