GoneSouth can I ask you a question please ?

Did you just throw the red lentils in soup or cook lentils first ?

When I made soup last week I threw lentils in and the seem to vanish didn't swell like I thought lentils did.

So night after I cooked lentils first for second half of soup. Did what packet said was sat here waiting for them to be ready and smelt burning  When I went into kitchen lentils where black in pan with no water :o :rotfl::rotfl: Luckily I managed to get my pan clean :T:T

I have never cooked with lentils before :)

Lentils dont swell, if properly cooked they do disappear and thicken the soup, glad you saved your pan. Do you have a slow cooker then you can just chuck everthing in, raw. for a few hours and either mash or blend the soup to your own preference.

Thanks meg they did disappear but my chilli con carne soup didn't thicken . I don't have a slow cooker never fancied one I would be panicking if it was on while I was out incase it set on fire, boiled dry etc . My dog Poppy lives in the kitchen when I am out.

Hi I am a soup addict and my favourite is. Lentil and Veg. It's so simple to make. :)
I use 1 onion 1 tblsp olive oil to gently cook the onion. Then I add my garlic, 2 carrots, 1 medium sized potato,2 leeks, few sprigs of cauli or and broccoli. 2 handfuls of lentils 1 small tin of chick peas if desired or any type of beans 1.5 pints water 1 veg stock cube ( or chicken) mixed herbs salt and pepper.
Cook for 40 mins add more water if too thick. Let the soup cool and blitz or eat as it is. Lovely....

This will be my Sunday menu plan. Will post my loss later in the morning.:D:D

Thanks for the replies, maman and b-e-g. I do agree that overcrowding can make a difference.

Pennies, take your time and get back on the horse when you’re better able.

Well done SallyC, durham, TIE, GoneSouth, cte1111 and hwoolgar.

I've not been able to post, so I'm late with my weigh in result from last week-
    3.5 pounds lost
. I'm very pleased with this, just 1 pound more for my 2.5 stones certificate.

I did lots more exercise than I usually would, second week of using the fit log, looks like this is working for me so far. Well done to everyone else too.

I wash the red lentils thoroughly before chucking them in soup, as otherwise you can sometimes get a bit of a foam on top.

Well done on your great loss cte :T Hopefully it wont be too long before you get your 2.5 shiney ;)

I thought 1 1/2 choc weetabix were a HE b same as the banana ones. I'll check the updated list. Brb

When I read your post Matron it rang a bell - GoneSouth will be so pleased.
