I'm not ashamed to say I spend most of the year's visits to car boot sales/jumble sales picking up "gifts" for birthdays/Christmas. My Christmas finds included a Sanctuary Manicure gift set for 50p and
a Sanctuary Classic 50ml EDT for £1.00
A Miss Selfridge silver/grey skull scarf (can't add a photo cos I can't prise it off her neck!) for 20p; Earmuff headphones for 50p
There are just too many too mention/post photos - but as I say, I do have a whole year to shop so not only does it cut the cost, it spreads itAnd all of these items were brand new, still in their boxes!
Oh, and I did manage to bag one of the Thorntons mega gift hampers as posted here (with thanks to Inukai ) and I only kept one box myselfso loads of choccy gifts too. In fact, this was the most I spent on any "one" item this year
Downside to buying lots of little pressies? The wrappingIt's so time consuming! Although it's cheap enough - 10p per 10 metre roll from Asda last January:D

Still no Christmas saver badge thingy for me and most of the others who have been unable to upload photos then?
*gives up*
MSE Andrea, where did you upload a photo...?
No need to give up... Perhaps 1. They haven't awarded them all yet. 2. Those people had badges from another year. 3. There is a limited amount. I haven't had a badge either, and I posted a photo. I'm sure they have other things to do than just giving out badges. I know my Debt free and proud badge took a while to come through but the satisfaction made it worthwhile! This is a system account and does not represent a real person. Sorry I don't know how to post photos
Bought this PS4 game for OH, cost in Argos £44 but saved my nectar points all year and had £32.50 off then paid with a cashback card that gave me 5% CB so another £0.57 off so ultimately had a £44 gift for £10.93 -I was very happy :TI’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Budgeting & Bank Accounts, Credit Cards, Credit File & Ratings and Energy boards. I 'treated' myself to a bottle of thunder vodka in the amazon sales...used my ''vouchers'' from online surveys so cost me £0!!!
I managed to pick up some beautiful christmas cards for next year...32 for me and 20 for my nephew for £1 all together. They will defiantly impress!!
Also my first year buying christmas dinner...after seeing how much turkey crowns cost...I thought it wasn't possible due to my budget. But I got a HUGE chicken from tesco...said serves 6-7 but more like 4-5...for £6.50!! It did dinner and supper for 3 of us and a cat. So pleased with myself.
I also got myself some sony earphones for £5, which were free with clubcard vouchers...and treated myself to two bottles of new nail varnish from superdrug for 20p each!0 -
I've edited my original post to say where I saw my deal too, hope that qualifies me for the badge now. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0

In true MSE style a bargain is only a bargain if it is something I truly need, everything else is just stuff that is bought cheaper than usually expected.
My best Christmas/ New Year bargain doesn't have a picture. Why? Because it isn't a thing, it is the realisation that I have all I need already .... my family and friends.
Free yet priceless!
Happy New Year to you all. May 2015 fill your lives with love, health and happiness ... not just cheap stuff.0 -
Christmas Eve I changed my mobile phone provider - monthly charge going from £30.00 down to £8.00 a month. (Had been with Orange for 24 years and thought they were rewarding my loyalty when they chopped my bill from £36 to £30 a couple of months ago but after Reading 30+ Cheap Mobile Tips when researching virgins I realised that this was not so. Thought about getting s new phone but I don't need one yet.
Went shopping Christmas Eve lunchtime and got a whole salmon for £5.50 (cut into 12 portions); runner beans for 9p a pack; 2 pizza bases for 29p; 6 rolls for 9p.
Went online and bought a new pair of slippers in the sale for £12 saved £7.00 ( weekly money saving email).
Gave my friends homemade gifts ( ideas from the Christmas homemade gift forum) ( jams, marmalade and chutneys) secondhand books ( that I had been given) and a small gift that I bought with a voucher ( total spend £1.00). ( will post photo once I have worked out how).
Used Waitrose voucher - spend £40 and get £10 off.
Used our roadkill savings (£94.78 found this year) to take my parents out for a meal. £60.00 we also gave £15.00 of it away to Charity, so that others will benefit.

Hi,
I can't seem to post a photo but I am more than happy to post the recipe for the red onion chutney that I gave my friends and family if anyone wants it. Everyone who has tried it seems to like it.

Ooo what a lovely find. My hubby and I usually go and buy chocolate
After Christmas when it is cheap but had tried to be more restrained this year, due to wanting to lose weight. Have you ever tried the lindt hazelnut bunnies? I would recommend them.2025 Fashion on a ration 0/66 coupons

Mine was more of a freebie really! I managed to get some sainsburys finest tangerines free that they were giving away. You can never have enough fruit in my house!
I also got all my Xmas cards and wrap for less than a £1 in January last year for this XmasBig thanks to all who contribute to the forums. Be lucky everyone and be safe!0 -
I've decided Waitrose, Aldi Morrisons and more importantly Wilkos need to get their rear ends into gear and open a store or two here in Belfast
Anyhow I've just bought these off Sports Direct. Got the Navy ones for £50 back in June for my holidays. Well worth the money so when I saw these on sale I had to order them.
Down to £30 and with a discount code on the Home page of the website gave me another £6 off :T
http://www.sportsdirect.com/skechers-go-walk-ladies-trainers-272037?colcode=27203702
So have bought them in Grey and bought Navy again Both pairs for £48. Considering I paid £50 for one pair 6 months ago I'm happy with this deal.
Now I'm off to delete all my card details off my computer so I can't spend any more money for a whilePay all debt off by Christmas 2025 £815.45/£3,000£1 a day challenge 2025 - £180/£730 Declutter a bag a week in 2025 11/52Lose 25lb - 10/25lbs Read 1 book per week - 5/52Pay off credit card debt 18%/100%0
