My best bargain was this Russell Hobbs food processor reduced from £56 to £14 (picked up from the grabbit thread - thanks OP!), paid with £7 of doubled up clubcard points.

I had many other bargains, and don't think I paid full price for anything; cards & paper from WHS for £1 each in Jan sales, freebies from O2 which went into Christmas stockings (bike lock, toy car, Viz calendar, toiletries, chocolate coins), items bought in sales throughout the year which I knew people would really like. It all meant I could be more generous, and helped spread the cost through the year. This way I also had pretty much everything bought by the end of November, which took a lot of the last minute stress out!

Last year our close family had an agreement to buy all presents from charity shops - which was quite fun too.

I haven't got photo of the receipt now but my best seasonal bargain was:

When tesco were doing 20% off gift cards for H&M with 500 extra ccp if you spent over £50 so I bought £70 in gift vouchers for £56, went into H&M armed with my cut price gift vouchers and a 20% off in store card from the December glamour magazine.

My orignial spend was £56 but I purchased around £88 worth of clothes for my girls. :j

That and I cashed out all my swags, surveys and cashback into amazon and Christmas was practically free I had managed to collect over £500!
  • Iv'e had a couple of good deals through ebay this year, first one was when my partner and myself both got shiny new phones so decided to get decent covers to protect them, found two official Motorola cases on ebay for £14.99 each (RRP £19.99) and then realised i had a £10 voucher from paypal (as i hadn't used my account for ages they just sent me the voucher to encourage me to spend) and then found an old nectar card we had, checked the points to find it had almost 23000 points on it (i think) which when we converted to ebay vouchers meant we paid exactly zero pence for the two cases delivered.
Flush with my great bargains i looked to see what else i could get from ebay, and managed to find some printer ink that we needed, when i just noticed a message pop up in my inbox, only to discover it was a voucher for £10 from ebay to be used in the computer and technology catergory so had a quick scan about and managed to find compatible cartridges listed at £3.99 per set of two (colour + b/w) high capacity, so used some more nectar points plus the ebay voucher to purchase five sets of high capacity ink cartidges for another zero pence! Result, i still haven't got through the first cartridge yet, they should last me years.

Hello Badger and the other MSE staff - Happy New Year!

I got this Sonos Play 1 (£169 RRP) for just £99 thanks to some vouchers I saved from completing surveys (thanks MSE for the tips last year). Best of all, it came with a 1 year free subscription to Deezer Premium, worth £120! My husband and I use music streaming as we love music and we used to spend over £2,000 a year on CDs, which ultimately were a waste of money. Now we use Deezer, so the £120 we saved for the year ahead we bought 12 months worth of car tax.

So £99 spend for a £169 item, plus £120 free music subscription membership saving as we would have paid for it again on 4th January and that got us the car tax. We also saved a bit by buying the 12 months upfront instead of paying via direct debit or buying 2 x 6 months which is what we used to have to do back before becoming DEBT FREE! When we started our DFW journey we couldn't even afford a car! I LOVE MSE!

Sorry for the poor photograph, took it in a hurry, but here you go:

I saw it on the Currys website, and I also got cashback via TopCashBack on my purchase. I nipped along to store, to save on delivery fees too! Sorry I forgot to add this before, I didn't read the last part of the rules.

    Xmas Saver!
I like to buy the children in my class a small gift every Christmas. There are 31 of them this year and are 4 and 5 years old. I usually set a limit of £1 per child for the presents. I had a problem with a purchase I made at Tescos back in October and because I couldn't make it to the store they sent me a £10 money card.
I went into another Tesco store at the start of December and saw they were selling off their Scented Loom Bands at 50p per pack. Lifted 62 of them as they were one colour packs. Got to the till and they were coming up at 8p a pack. This made them £4.96. Paid with the money card which meant they were free. I then went back Lifted the remaining boxes and went to another Cashier had 144 packs came to about £12 so paid with the remainder of the card and only had to put about £2 or so to it. I took 113 packs round to the shopping center where there was a giving tree for sick children and donated them all to that.

Then wrapped up 3 packs each for each child in my class (different colour) and the children were delighted with their gifts.

Also thanks to a link on the Grabbit board here for Sleeping bags I was able to pick up 11 sleeping bags for our local homeless charity for £30 :T

So for 31 Christmas presents, donations of gifts for sick children and Donations to the homeless charity I spent about £33 in total.

Unfortunately I can't post photos of any of them as they are all away now. And for child protection and privacy I can't post the class photo :)

that is amazing, so thoughtful at this time of year when it is so easy to forget about all those suffering.
I sent some bits of to post pal's so I could try make someone smile.

My £2 real Christmas tree. I've always wanted a real one, it looks amazing and has only shed about 4 needles!
