Oh and for the recipe catalogue. Made Hairy Dieters Moussaka for tea, three cleared plates which just about never happens - and we were all happily full for about 300 calories, must be witchcraft.

154 calories under today, not hungry, chuffed :D

I Love the hairy dieters recipe books!! I have the first 2 tend to do 1 recipe from them a week, this week it was the chilli con carne. so good, especially if you add the wine ;) I actually had it twice this week once with meat and once as a veggie sweet potato lentil and pearl barley version :)

  • Morning all. Am having grapes instead of toast (white bread) for my breakfast. I don't drink near enough water so am going to keep a glass by my side all day today. And am planning to do Bokwa tomorrow!

Thanks for adding me on to the table!

Also congratulations to Cinny, the only other person to be in the top 10 both weeks

    Barely! :rotfl:

Good luck on your half marathon, Tete :) I wish I could take up running, one of my friends goes out running everyday (whenever I see her she always bikes there too.. show off) but it just feels so unnatural on my body :o:o I'm a much better walker!

It's true what Birdie says too! Not to discredit any of the weight NIM has lost, but especially with that time of the month we do generally weigh more/become static in the weight loss. On the lead up to Overlook Season, our bodies do use more calories. I think it's around 300 more? Not that we can even bank on that helping weight loss when we retain more water, bloat (which makes us feel bigger and sad!) and when our magnesium levels drop, it makes us feel hungrier. And then we bleed for a while to top it all off.

Side note - options hot chocolates are awesome for when you're on your period. You get the chocolate fix, and you and rest the mug on your stomach for the cramp pains :)

Anyone have any nice plans for the weekend? I'm off to get my Sister from the airport but will be taking snacks and a little packed salad for my dinner. Plenty of bottled water too! Then Sunday we're driving out to the peaks to water Ryder for some miles :)

Have both kids all weekend as mum is in the run up to ofsted (in 2 weeks, is it better or worse teachers among us to have more notice? They're looking to use her early years unit as the uk example of best practice, she's the nursery teacher, head of early years and the deputy head so getting ready is falling quite heavily on her!) so no idea what I'll do with them. Going to an art class based on the lion king tomorrow with Grace and her friend, but sunday is looming large. Church if I can get them ready in time but I find it very daunting going to church on my own with two little uns, especially one who is only a week out of nappies.

Doing some batch cooking this afternoon I hope so we have plenty of low calorie meals easy to reach for on days I'm too busy to cook.

I've been converted, starting a couple of 30 day challenges today but not decided on which.

Men do tend to lose more, but there are more men than NIM on the chart, and there's a big variation between the women too. I genuinely think it's as simple as he has an extremely active lifestyle working 5 days a week and on his feet doing a lot of manual lifting as well for those 12 hours, coupled with a 2000 calorie+ cut back in his intake. Most of us wouldn't have been overeating by 2000 calories! I look at it this way - in a month he'll be at his goal weight and the rest of us can get a look in! It's never going to be an even keel, some people have injuries, more active jobs, naturally slightly faster or slower metabolisms, be older or younger, TOTM, hormonal contraception, various medications can make you lose or gain weight, people with issues such as depression or anxiety may find that plays a role in both their diet and their self image, all we can all do is the best for us, and be happy with the result. At least no one else has to live in the same house with his 'but I'm not even doing anything really!' comments, I'm very proud of him for doing it but of course I wish it could fall off me in the same way.

Not a clue what overlook season is, googled it, got some guff about adopting pets.

Weigh in day here, not as much of a loss to declare next Wed, but a small loss at least. Hubby was a bit down about losing less than 1lb but, because of the weather this week, we've not done our daily wander into town at lunch. I guess that makes more difference than we thought.

Well I just weighed in and have lost 6lbs since Jan 2nd - I was concerned I'd have put weight ON so I'm super happy about this!

I think I'll pay more attention to what I'm eating on my normal days now as something seems to be working about the 5:2 :)

Overlook is the hotel in The Shining. You know the elevator door scene?

I didn't mean to put down NIM's weightloss, Dinah. Totally with you on all of it, and feel your pain of living with someone who seems to be losing weight relatively pain free! OH has already lost way over a stone, and I witnessed him eat a whole tub of ben and jerries while I sat with a bowl of natural yoghurt with honey. AND he had a McRib yesterday.

Almond and lentil curry for tea tonight with homemade coriander roti. Really enjoying the HelloFresh box, I've even had 2 nights off cooking because OH wants to try the recipes
  • I treated myself to a Garmin Vivofit last week and I can already tell it is helping me be more active. A red bar flashes across the screen if you are inactive too long which is very easy to do when you sit at a desk all day.

Looking into some local walks to do with the dog for the weekends too as I can quite contently sit in the house all day at not move. Good for catching up on TV not good for my waistline. I can also sit down in for a few hours in the evenings once I have reached my daily goals anyway.
I watched the first episode of the BBC diet programme last night very interesting as I took the quiz and I was 50/50 between constant craver and feaster.

My 'work at home day' and I am floored with a heavy cold. Dont feel like eating but have had a banana and Nutell* sandwich on fresh tiger bread :D Just fluids and day time TV now for rest of day.

Dinah - I am a teacher and wish inspection teams would call and say 'we will be there in an hour' cant do much in that time except pick up the coats in the cloak room and sharpen the pencils :D IMO if you havent got anything to hide and you are doing your job why have all that stress??. However I do know when we get the nod the Idiot in Charge will go into overdrive and then meltdown and yours truly will have to pick up the pieces.........

Ciny - almond and lentil curry.......recipe please :)

I did the diet quiz too - inconclusive as I thought it would be - my default setting is grazer - NOT picker. I would happily graze all day and not bother with meals.I'm heading to the 5:2 diet, just got to get myself organised/feeling better and I will happily graze on 600 calories during a day......well I hope so!
