Id never in a million years make a joke about someones weight, but my goodness when someone has just given birth and its a size 10!!!

If people are on the receiving end of jokes about their appearance, they'll know how much it hurts and believe it or not, some people do start out making comments about how their partner looks and then make more and more. She's just had a baby, her hormones will still be all over the place and then she gets a comment like that, totally unnecessary. If people do think that comment is funny, that's up to them. I think its awful, just because someone is laughing when they say youve let yourself go doesn't mean its funny or acceptable. It's not.

She doesn't need to kick him to the kerb over one comment, but she should let him know its not acceptable, because its not.

So youve never made a joke at a partners expense?

Men just don't get it.....they think once you popped the little nuggets out your body should spring back to shape....my daughter went from 10st all the way up to a glorious 19st at full term..she went down to 11st in 3 weeks because apart from popping out a 9lb 13oz nugget she retained massive amounts of fluid....her boyfriend was a Pratt as well...

    :eek::eek:

Oh lord! I thought you were supposed to put on about 28lb during pregnancy. 9 stone!!

OP, I don't know, it depends on what he meant by it. Size 10 doesn't sound big. Does he mean you used to be immaculately groomed but now wear more er.. baby-friendly clothes (track-suit bottoms and tops, or god forbid, onesies) and no make-up?

It's clearly playing on your mind, which suggests your appearance/attractiveness IS important to you, so you can't have 'let yourself go' completely!

Has anybody said it was funny? Nope. People have been saying HE obviously thought it was funny. Clearly it was not.

Nobody has said they found it funny or acceptable, so unclench a little! He made what he thought was a joke, foot in mouth moment, I'm sure he's sorry and never meant it as it sounded. There's absolutely no need to make a mountain out of this. OP will let him know it was insensitive and absolutely not funny, he'll apologise, end of story. Goodness, I'm sure they'll have more serious stuff than this to have a row about in the future!

My wife and I regularly take a pop at each other. She doesn't take it too seriously and neither do I. I wouldn't read anything too much into it. I'd bet he's forgotten he even said it by now. :)

He joked, leave at that. You got upset, he apologised, what else do you want. Everyone in my family teases each other, that's part of our personalities. We all love each other very much, and we are all confident people, so these comments are nothing else than bunter.

Clearly your OH thought you would take it as such and maybe your confidence has gone down, hence you taking it at face value. If he is a good boyfriend, then let it go. If it does bother you that much and you are worried about your body shape, then do something about it.

Have you been doing your pelvic floor exercises - very important after a 9 ib baby xx
I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.

My OH used to tell me he was off the minute he won the Lottery - I always offered to pack his case for him. We knew each other well enough not to take a bit of banter seriously, so unless you've turned into Jabba the Hut, joke him back.
.................:)....I'm smiling because I have no idea what's going on ...:)

I typed a longer response, but on reflection you aren't worth the effort.

Perfectly clear. You've made jokes about other thing, which maybe they were sensitive about.

So get off the high horse. No one said it was funny.
