I never signed up to Emma's Diary sweetilemon, I did sign up with Bounty last time and they're still spamming me with emails despite several attempts to unsubscribe!

Oh no, really? This must be the downside to the free wipes! I signed up to bounty too, I do enjoy their weekly progress emails. I suspect after the birth it will get irritating! You get the bounty pack anyway but it wasn't quite as good.
  • Morning all.

I picked up the emma's diary pack from boots with the form they sent me through the post. I haven't picked up anymore. I need to see what ones I have and get the others.

Struggling with back ache now, especially with sitting down and in bed on my hips. It doesn't help that one of my cats tends to creep onto my bed at night and sleeps on my side so adding to the pressure on my hips and back. I cant shut them out as they rip up the carpets in the landing. Naughty cats.

23 weeks today!!!!!!!! How is that possible!!! Still, only 93 days (or 67 work days) till mat leave. Woop, woop!

Also did a load of christmas shopping at the weekend. We were on our way back from a weekend away and hit the Bicester outlet on the way back, and without really thinking about it, we got loads of people sorted for christmas. Its ridiculously early, but pleased as I dont htink I will want to do too much shopping in the run up to christmas.

For those who usually travel to relatives around christmas, how are you doing it this year? I will be 36.5 weeks at christmas, and OH and I don't want to be too far from home from this time so have said we will do all the visits late November, early December and that will be it until baby is born. As we usually take OH's daughter to the grandparents as they don't travel up to us anymore, I am hoping they wont be too annoyed we wont be visiting nearer the time. OH also doesn't want me to cook christmas dinner. I said its fine and I don't mind, but then I do have a tendency to do too much and then suffer later. My family are really close (walking distance) so he has suggested they come to us and they cook, but I am a bit of a control freak so not sure I could cope being out of my own kitchen on christmas day! He also suggested we go down to my families house as I can drive us there and back, but I don't want to impose on my parents who are really struggling financially. Argh! What to do?

Tricky decision Devildolly - do you have the freezer space to prep as much as possible in advance? We hosted Christmas last year, and I'd made all the stuffings and sauces in advance and frozen so all I had to do on Christmas Eve was get them all out and peel the veg, and on the day just get everything in and out of the oven in the right order! If you're worried about the cost for your parents, I'd say you'll cook the main, ask them to bring the pudding, and tell OH that he's doing all the legwork and washing up!

Devil Dolly - I'm in a similar boat, except OH has invited his family up for Christmas and is not listening to me when I say I'm not sure it's a good idea. They'd have to stay with us. I'm 37 weeks on Christmas day. He said they'd cook, which is fine, except, like you, I'm a control freak and would hate someone else in my kitchen. Also they won't tidy up properly and OH will 'forget' to do things like make sure there is clean bedding and towels etc.

I spoke to OHs mum about it and she said, don't worry, we'll either not come up or stay in a hotel, which was nice of her. I feel mean, but I'm going to be knackered and although I usually love hosting I like to do a proper job.
  • Hi Ladies,

Can I join in please? I am 23 weeks today and only just had the sickness and nausea subside in past few days. When I say subside, it is not continuous any more, only in the late afternoon and evening. My doctor said it probably won't go completely now! :(

Although I'm British, I actually live and work in Switzerland and my husband is French, so we are both in different countries from our families. This means that we'll probably stay here on our own at Christmas as I will be too far along to travel (obviously need to fly back to UK and DH's family live in the south of France, which is a 5 hour drive). I'm a bit sad about this as I love the festivities of family and friends at Christmas, but hey ho.

We are coming back to the UK in two weeks though for 10 days to see family and friends, so I am very happy at the prospect of doing some serious shopping and eating some roast dinners and fish & chips! Hope everyone here is doing well.
Remember Occam's Razor - the simplest explanation is usually the right one. :)

    32 and mortgage-free :D
  • Ooh there's 3 of us on here now with the same due date Top Quark! (devildolly5, yourself and me) :D

We're still not decided what's happening with Christmas - we usually go to my sister in law's in Cornwall (a three hour drive from Somerset) but I'm not keen this year. Think I'd rather stay closer to home!

Booked my tickets for the Baby Show today as well - that's going to be our mini babymoon ;) and handed in my MATB1 form to work today (I'm a little bit worried by how fast these weeks seem to be going)

How are you getting on with the pregnancy yoga rambosmum? I really quite enjoyed my first session last week, there were only 9 of us and everyone was lovely although I think we spent more time chatting and asleep (the power of yogic sleep apparently) than actually stretching.
  • Open question to everyone.....

How far along were you when you started to feel some sort of movement, and what did it feel like?

I'm obviously not at that point yet but wondering when i should start to expect to feel different.

Just to add as well, I think I felt very small flutters from about 17 weeks-ish but it wasn't til 19+6 that I first felt something that made me think "yep, that's a kick". My placenta is anterior is well (it seems quite common on here!) so the kicks aren't particularly strong but they're there. :)

Oh and had my second 20 week scan last Friday - apparently it's a girl! :grinheart

Welcome top quark. Where in Switzerland do you live? I have friends over there, they've just got married. We visited them last year (she's a Swiss national, he's British) it was beautiful, I'd love to go back. We visited the Rhine falls, stunning.

Pregnancy yoga is good, unlike any other yoga I've ever done though, and a bit 'new agey' for me, but I'm enjoying it and the teacher is lovely. And yes, we had a lot 'relaxation time' which was us on the floor, eyes closed experiencing sensations in our body!
