Firebird, I wish I had your determination. Chocolate and me go hand in hand right now, I just can't say no :rotfl:
Sadly determination failed miserably over the weekend...I polished off half a pack of Lindors, and quite a lot of cake and biscuits. Whoops!
Hope the scans went OK, Arbrighton And April0 -
Hope the scans go well abrighton and April
DH hasn't felt baby kick here yet but I've noticed it getting more active and I've felt a couple of kicks from the outside so hoping he will too soon.
I sway on resistance to chocolate/sweets, someday I'm good but then now and again I just binge a little :rotfl:Christmas is the most magical time of the year :santa2:
Mum to two boys :heartpuls0 -
All good at the scan and as it was local infirmary, we'd actually only just sat down when they called us in (and had been scanned by appt time!)
OH noted that he/she had grown (yes dear!)
And i've just booked carpet fitting for bean's room for this week0 -
No idea why I said scan, it was just the regular 24 week appt. All is good and got to hear baby's heartbeat
Arbrighton glad to hear your scan went well
Chocolate is just so easy to binge on. I bought the new digestive thins, made me feel a bit better eating 2/3 of them instead of 2/3 of the normal sized ones :rotfl:0 -
Well, we went out 'baby shopping' yesterday - ended up with lots of information, but no stuff!
The John Lewis new parent thing was quite useful - 2 hours and a dedicated member of staff, plus free tea and cake at the end (much needed!). We also popped into Mothercare (first time!), which was an eye-opening experience. Unfortunately their next expectant parent evening is in a couple of weeks, but we can't make that evening. However, they did offer to book in a personal shopping evening that same week, and keep the expectant parent evening discount for us, so that's a good alternative option. And then we tried to get the cot from Ikea, but they didn't have any in stock! Clearly we'll have to save all the spending for next month. On the plus side, we might have managed to finish decorating the spare room for everything to go in by then...
I've narrowed down the pram search a bit as well - think current favourite is probably the Uppababy or the Silver Cross. There's a couple of second-hand, light use ones for sale locally, so might go and check them out at the weekend.
Hypnobirthing week 3 update - moved on from the relaxation stuff to some actual hypnosis this week - some techniques to keep practising, and a 'fear release' bit, which should be useful. Couldn't help giggling when OH had his first go at reading through one of the scripts for me though - might need to try and suppress that reflex!
How's everyone else doing?0 -
Morning all, thought I would take the time to post, I read everything but this is my first post for a while.
I am 22wks + 5 days pregnant with a little girl. I already have two DS's (aged 17 & 19) and a 10 year old daughter so soon I will have 2 of each:)
I have a very active job (teaching assistant in a Primary School Nursery) and I work full time, I have been suffering terribly from Pelvic/Hip Pain, so I'm really glad I break up tomorrow for a week for the rest, Ive seen physio and am going to pick up some crutches in the week, anyone else suffering from this?
We haven't yet started decorating the nursery, its a new house and the spare room is currently used as an office/general dumping ground, although the cot is being delivered on Monday! - Think we are planning to decorate over Easter, which is probably when I will start my Mat leave (at 32 weeks) as I just can't keep up this pace for much longer!
We are also off to the Mothercare Evening on Thursday to hopefully buy our pram, I'm really excited, although its my 4th baby, theres been such an age gap, it feels like my first again, and Im in a new relationship and it is DH's first child, so we are like a couple of newbies at the minute.
Hope everyone else is well?0 -
It's gone quiet around here... I've got my next midwife appointment tomorrow morning at 23+1. I think it was supposed to be at 24 weeks and she accidentally put it in for 23 weeks? Anyway, has anyone else got experience of this appointment and what it entails? Hoping I get to hear the heartbeat again! Can't believe it's only a few weeks until I'm into the third trimester! Bump is growing at a ridiculous rate since it really popped at 20 weeks; I've noticed I've started "waddling" due to my changing centre of gravity.
New job is going great. Really glad I managed to find it; even if I do have to commute into London for a few months. Was getting bored at home and this job is well paid so ought to have a lovely cushion so I can afford a nice long maternity leave. Hope everyone else is well!
Welcome Lifestartsat40!Cleared my credit card debt of £7123.58 in a year using YNAB! Debt free date 04/12/2015.
Enjoying sending hundreds of pounds a month to savings rather than debt repayment!0 -
Snowscreamer- all my midwife appointments have been similar to each other- my blood pressure, check urine sample, quick chat to discuss any concerns and movement and listen to baby's heartbeat. Also discuss any scans or results since last appointment. My next is at 28 weeks and is a double as they'll do my bloods again.0

Been pretty busy since the scan last week- carpet into bean's room and we've put the single bed and bookshelf back in.
Went to mothercare and finalised our pram decision and placed the order which was attempted for delivery yesterday, when I was at the dentist. So should arrive today. I hope.
Also booked into the antenatal class that runs as an all day on a saturday for me and OH, organised around the weddings we currently know about etc, and the breastfeeding session, just for me- there are some for couples, but for now, I'll do that.
Then I've just been for my whooping cough jab. Sore arm seems pretty much instantaneous
My next appt is the first growth scan, which actually appears to have been booked in for 25 rather than 24 weeks. They should do BP/ urine etc then too. If not, I'll have to sort a community midwife appt. I'll graduate onto the big scary thread after that appt.
Finally, started reading about hypnobirthing, despite being sceptical. I think in terms of trying to stay calm, it will be useful but I'm not a MUST BE NATURAL AT ALL COSTS person. OH seems more or less on board with the idea of being calmer etc so will read further and practice what needs practicing. Did get two books and even for the same principles, one is a lot more anti-medicine than the other, which has put me off.0 -
Gosh, have just realised that I'm 24 weeks, and have therefore outgrown this thread - eeep! Thanks for the reminder re Whooping cough - have an appointment with the doctor (25 weeks) next week, so will see if I can arrange it for then. Had forgotten all about it...there's been this weird gap since the 20 week scan, when I've had no appointments at all. Bit of a nuisance really, as all the symptoms I'd like some reassurance about have started! (tailbone pain anyone else?).Finally, started reading about hypnobirthing, despite being sceptical.
