  • Hello all,

firstly apologies to thread hijack a little bit but I am hoping you can help me. I am writing a proposal to the board of my trade association asking for maternity pay arrangements to be reviewed. If there are any lovely ladies on here that work for a trade association or charity that wouldn't mind sharing their work's maternity pay offering by private message I'd be very appreciative.

At the moment they only offer SMP and we are central London so I am hoping they will consider adding a % on top. I am hoping to collect some evidence of what other TAs and charities offer to strengthen my case.

I love my maternity leggings! Or 'preggings' as OH calls them. Seriously, they are a must have. I would live in mine if I could. I have a pair from asos and a pair from H&M. I like both, but prefer my asos ones as they are a petite size so better for length, but I just wear the H&M ones over my feet.

And April- I can promise you, you are not the only one to cry. I burst into tears in a restaurant outside the Pantheon on our babymoon, it was a bit embarassing but I just got too hot/ tired/ overwhelmed. And I the other night I cried because my book stressed me out (it is a sequel- the Rosie Effect- and unbeknown to me the plot is about a very anxious/ autistic main character who discovers they are having a baby, and that made me stressed, oops!). And I nearly cried in a meeting at work last week :/

Thanks Snow. With leggings I just bought a medium and they seem to be ok for now.

Thanks penguin it's nice to know that I'm not going a bit crazy :rotfl: the emotions don't half wreck your head.

Scan went well. Baby is absolutely fine and everything developing well :) it's very lazy though haha as it was having a sleep and it only really moved to roll away from being poked by the ultrasound lady :rotfl:
They think I have a low placenta though so got to go back at 32weeks to confirm.
Christmas is the most magical time of the year :santa2:

Off for our 20week scan on mon, slightly more anxious about this one

And yes, definitely a bad idea to step on the scales. Healthy second half must follow or i will be size of a flippin house
  • Great new Newthrift, glad to hear everything is OK. Good luck for yours on Mon Arbrighton - we were the same, a bit concerned beforehand, but hopefully everything will be fine :)

I have found healthy eating much easier in the last few weeks - there's still been cake and chocolate, but I'm finding it much easier to say "no" now!

Oh, and I am feeling movement fairly regularly now, which is nice - OH still hasn't managed to catch it moving, but that hasn't stopped him trying!

We braved the Trafford Centre today to just start looking at the big purchases. So tried out a couple of travel systems in John Lewis and Mamas and Papas. Frightening how much you can spend, but neither of us can see why you would. However, I'm not sure how much it will be used day to day as i think i'll use a sling/carrier more with having dogs to walk and lots of offroad paths near us
No mothercare to try their own brand one so need to pop into next town this week to try that out. Only downside we can definitely see is the included carseat is not Isofix so there would be a lot of faffing, and we'd definitely get another car seat with base for my car if we get that option.

Trying not to nervous about scan tomorrow and the less said about the reading on birth interventions, the better. I prefer to know than not but it's still a bit terrifying
  • Hope scan goes OK tomorrow arbrighton. Would also be interested what you make of the Mothercare pram as looking online that it is our favourite so far (and we have old cars so isofix not an issue!). We're going to the Mothercare evening on the 21st so will have a look then.

I wasn't going to do any of the events as i (and OH) hate hard sell.

But he's swung by a few freebies and potentially money off !

So I'll see what we can book into.

Just been talking to SIL who had 2nd a week ago and quite good to know their isofix didn't fit her car etcetc

Glad to hear the scan went well New.

Arbrighton hope your scan goes well today.

Firebird, I wish I had your determination. Chocolate and me go hand in hand right now, I just can't say no :rotfl: doesn't help that I have always had a sweet tooth, but just now it seems to be in overdrive. Hopefully your OH will feel baby soon. Mine now feels him roughly once a day, usually first thing in the morning or just as I'm about to go to sleep.

Went to the Mamas & Papas event yesterday, was ok. There was a small piece on hypnobirthing, but it was more just reaffirming what I have already read but was nice to hear it spoken about. 24week scan today, so I'm looking forward to that.
