Glad the scan went well Pidge
I'm with Firebird, everyone in the office seems to have some sort of cold that just lingers and for the past few months, I've been absolutely fine. Its good to hear such positive feedback from your Hypnobirthing class, even if it is just the introduction. I just need to get a date settled with my pt for mine.
Snow glad your scan went well.
Penguin, hopefully you can get your annual leave resolved today.
Plodding along here, baby is becoming a lot more active, and is in a routine, so it's nice that I can just put up my feet at the end of the day and almost immediately I start feeling him. OH has felt a few more kicks, and they are starting to become a fair bit stronger. 23 weeks tomorrow, and time seems to be flying, well except for when I've had to wait for a scan. Hope everyone else is well0 -
That's exciting news Pidge! Glad the scan went well.
Firebird- that's good your hypnobirthing went well. I might do some reading about it.
April- glad you're finally getting lots of movement! Ours is still a wriggler.
I'm jealous of those of you with super immune systems! My cold is still lingering, but I think getting better. Working from home this morning so that helps a bit. And it's nearly weekend!0 -
Has anyone been to a mamas and papas parent to be event yet? We're going tomorrow and I'm wondering what to expect.0

Ours is not till next week Ratison, so would be good to get your feedback on it0

I went to the mamas and papas event this morning. We got a gift bag on the way in, with a little soft rattle thing, some leaflets with general info (like a list of what you need to buy, and a hospital list), plus a voucher for 10% off that day up to £1499 and 15% off over that. There was also a £10 gift card.
My store had 3 talks on - one about baby first aid, one about car seats and one about cots etc. It was really low key overall - in a good way. I didn't feel pressure to buy things at all (we did buy some bedding and other things though). I was a bit of a nerd in the car seat study as the lady doing the talk said babies can be in car seats for 90 minutes - I brought up this study http://www.nhs.uk/news/2016/10October/Pages/Warning-over-babies-sleeping-in-car-seats.aspx and showed her the link on my phone.
Still no further on with the big purchases - pram and car seat, but it's still early and we have a Mothercare event this month as well.0 -
Has anyone had a private scan? Debating on having one at the end of Feb / beginning of March, but I'm 20 weeks on 21st March so I don't know if it's a complete and utter waste of money. Everytime I've been scanned at the hospital it's been a trainee and they've struggled to get a clear photo. As much as I loved seeing little one on my dating scan, the photo I got from it was far from clear and I was a little disappointed with it.0

How many scans have you had?! Our pic was so bad at the 20 week scan that the sonographer wouldn't let us pay for it! (well, it's head/torso and an arm - I don't think it's that bad, and baby was not in a helpful position for whole body pic). If you feel strongly about it then why not?
I felt my first real kick at the weekend, which was quite exciting - suddenly made baby feel much more real even than seeing the scans. Am feeling much more confident about getting on with buying baby stuff, which is planned for next week
Penguin - if you're interested but not quite sure about the hypnobirthing, it might be worth getting the book - I read it over the weekend, and it really gave me a positive feeling about birth. Probably worth a read even if you don't do the course.
It's called Hypnobirthing: The Breakthrough to Safer, Easier, More Comfortable Childbirth, there's a 2015 edition available secondhand for a penny on amazon.0 -
I'd also really recommend the Mindful Mamma, Mindful Hypnobirthing book too by Sophie Fletcher - it's been amazing and you can download stuff from her website if you don't want or can't attend a classOfficially Mrs B as of March 2013
TTC since Apr 2015, baby B born March 20170 -
Woollisox, I had a private scan at 16 weeks as they don't tell you the gender in our area. I paid for a basic gender scan, and the sonographer let us have a glimpse of baby in 4D which I loved. We even got a really good photo. However, I wouldn't be paying the cost for a 4D scan as they are expensive. How many scans have you had so far? You still have your 20 week scan, could you wait till then?
Firebird, it makes it so much more real. Soon you'll be feeling kicks on a regular basis
I was looking at the 2 books recommended, and somehow managed to buy one. Didn't realise till I got a confirmation email from Amazon. So I look forward to reading it when it arrives :rotfl:0 -
Oooh I will look at those books, thanks!
We didn't bother getting pictures at either of our 20 week scans, as both were so unclear and baby was so wriggly. Got pictures at emergency scan at 10 weeks and dating scan at nearly 14. We prefer the earlier one
I've looked online and quite like the look of the Mothercare journey travel system so definitely going to look at it more on the expectant parents event. It includes a car seat that is seat belt attached (neither of us have isofix cars) and has been tested for side impact.0
