Thanks arbrighton- I too am a regular excema sufferer (mainly my hands), but had completely forgotten I have bought it over the counter before. Good to know it is still OK to use, but like you I need some more. I also have a bit on my eyelid and side of face- I had put it down to dry skin from flying/being away (air quality was awful in Rome) as it has come on since belly and arms- but they may be linked. Will just keep moisturising face and see how I get on.
I think tiredness is normal, I'm not as bad as first trimester, as in I don't fall asleep randomly and I can manage to do some stuff, but definitely more than pre-pregnancy. OH notices it if I walk anywhere, as previously I had pretty good stamina from running up to half marathons, now I need to rest frequently when walking. Peaceful churches were a life saver in Rome as could just bob in and sit for 15 mins. Like you, I also think I've overdone it at times and struggle to adapt to pacing myself. I also find I just hit a wall rather than gradually fatigue.0 -
Penguingirl, glad you enjoyed Rome despite the lack of toilets! I've also booked on Mothercare (and Mamas and Papas) events. I'm naively hoping it isn't too much of a hard sell, and am looking forward to just seeing different things and testing them out. I hate shopping as well, but I'm looking forward to getting things for baby. We had a generous cash gift from OH's mum so that should make things a lot easier financially.0

Thanks will head there tomorrow. It was Stratford Westfield that I tried today.
Was the bounty pack any good?
Expectant mother included lots of samples of skin and hair products. It's not bad for free though!
The growing family pack had: a knorr bolognese sachet (not entirely sure what's in it though, as you still have to add mince, onions, carrots, tomatoes, etc?! :rotfl:); 2 hipp organic baby feeding pouches; a full size tesco baby wash; a mini hipp babywash and some tesco wipes.
In (slightly) moneysaving 'news', I made myself a pair of maternity jeans by sewing a pair of old and too big 'slimming pants' into a pair of jeans that otherwise still fit perfectly elsewhere. I really do begrudge spending money on myself when I could spend it on the kids0 -
Just back from 20 week scan - everything normal and good over here, which is a relief! Have anterior placenta though (and apparently quite a thick one!), so am booked in for another scan after Easter to check whether it's moved out of the way or not. I had wondered whether it was, as I really haven't felt any movements, so good to have the reason confirmed
Glad Rome was good Penguin - when we went to Venice, I really disliked the fact that it was 1 Euro min every time you wanted to use the facilities - would be no good for me at all now!!0 -
So pleased your scan went well firebird. My scan is tomorrow! I've been feeling a lot of movements, wriggles and kicks, stronger every day and for the last 4-5 days my husband has been able to feel some of the stronger kicks too (albeit with a little patience required as they are still fairly light from the outside). So I'm guessing my placenta isn't anterior! Either that or my baby packs a serious punch!
We're going to throw all caution to the wind after the scan (presuming all is well) so we'll be ordering the cot and pushchair. Yesterday I borrowed my mum's sewing machine and made the curtains for the nursery. This weekend we have my younger cousin staying and she's going to help us paint so it will all start to come together! Glad I've been able to use this last month to push ahead with the preparation as it looks like I'll be going back to work soon. Just waiting to hear back on a couple of 4-month contracts I've been put forward for and it's sounding pretty positive with one of them. I've said I'll work until the last week in May which will put me at 36+2. Hopefully that last month will give me enough time to resume the nesting and sort out the last few bits.Cleared my credit card debt of £7123.58 in a year using YNAB! Debt free date 04/12/2015.

Firebird glad to hear the scan went well
Snows good luck for tomorrow, hope you little one is nice and cooperative.
Penguin glad to hear you enjoyed Rome. I've noticed that my stomach tends to get quite itchy, might mention it to my midwife next time I see her now.
Went and bought our buggy/car seat/base at the weekend. Glad to have that out the way with, and should be delivered a good few weeks before baby is due to arrive. Starting to feel a lot more realer now with the big things being bought. My mum wants to buy the cot & mattress so will be leaving that till about April if we can.
Hope everyone else is keeping well.0 -
Sweetbabu - thanks for the info re bounty packs, i was disappointed with the emma diary ones, more leaflets than anything (Managed to get them from Lakeside)
Firebird - glad your scan went well, I have anterior placenta too and started feeling movement from around 22 weeks. Now approaching 24 weeks and increasing everyday0 -
Hi all,
Spent 2.5 hours in the hospital for my scan as bub was being exceptionally awkward but we got there in the end. They were struggling to get good views of the heart as he/she was lying spine up, head towards my stomach and refused to budge much. Eventually the sonographer thought there was enough to be pretty confident of a normal heart though so all was well. Measuring small but well within normal range for most measurements which I am happy with. Both OH and I were small babies so that figures.
Very happy to have spent so much time today staring at our baby in wonder!Cleared my credit card debt of £7123.58 in a year using YNAB! Debt free date 04/12/2015.

Hi all,
Hope you are all doing well. I've had several bouts of illness, one after another, norovirus, chest infection, now torn intercostal muscles from coughing so much, argh! Been put on light duties for four weeks by GP. Boss not happy and wants me to be referred to occy health and thinks I should possibly start my mat leave as early as poss which would be April second, but really don't want to do that, I'm only twenty weeks at the moment  the muscles thing is nothing to do with pregnancy and neither was norovirus or chest so I'm wondering what it will actually achieve, going off early! Any advice?
Scan tomorrow so we get to find out if we are team pink or team blue! Can't wait, have been hopping off the walls most of the last week as I'm so impatient. You've got a lively baby Snowscreamer, reckon mine will be awkward, it is supposed to share genes with me after all :rotfl: pleased your scan went well, firebird!
Car seat saga, why do they make it so complicated?! Thought we had decided on maxi cosi cabriofix with base thanks to which. Went to buy it in mamas and papas and had a lecture on why the pebble plus and two way base is the best and we should buy that if we want the baby to have the best protection. Walked away with nothing in the end as it was more than double the price of the cabriofix so more saving needed! Felt guilty for even considering the cabriofix after the lecture :rotfl: which is silly, we survived in much less safe cars and forward facing car seats, but I think we were both a bit sensitive on the subject as OH has had 2 crashes recently (neither of which were his fault, in his work van) so it's playing on his mind that we must have the top of the range recommended one.
Thanks for the tip on mothercare events. We've booked one in the area too so hoping to scoop up the car seat then, as long as we don't have another argh moment and find an even safer one for even more money :rotfl::eek:
Trying to convince the OH to have a babymoon, think I'll cross Rome/Venice off the list now penguingirl, the toilet is my new best friend, I'll spend all my money just on those or in a frantic panic trying to find them while wriggling :rotfl: we are going to wales in April, but staying with MIL, FIL, BIL x 2 and SIL in a big house we've hired, so I don't think it's exactly the relaxing time they recommmend! Should be fun though, just praying I don't go into labour (I'll be 31 weeks) as we are right out in the middle of nowhere with an hours drive down country lanes to the nearest hospital! Defo bringing the maternity notes just in case.Baby due 21/06/20170 -
Both Morrisons and Boots have baby events now on0
