Just looked through stuff OH has to do for SPL and we're considering whether he should ask to work part time (and would have considered without bean anyway).

Lots more lovely forms to fill out and letters to write.

I realised this morning that I am a fool and booked my next midwife appt for the week we're away in Scotland so will have to sort that out. Children's centre that has the community midwife is only three days so may have to wait until monday.

Well we had our scan today and the baby was lying in an awkward position so I was in for ages! Everything looks really good and, though the sonographer wasn't sure, it looks like we're also joining team blue!

Travel set and cot bed has been ordered now.

Sweet glad to hear the scan went well, and yay another one for the blue team :) Changing bags are expensive like, I'm lucky that my aunt has offered me hers, so saving a small bit of pennies there.

Arbrighton hopefully you can get your appointment changed.

Narrowed it down to Maxi-Cosi Pebble and Pebble plus, just need to try get in have the seats fitted and go from there. Have a genetics appt this afternoon so hoping me and the OH can pop into Mothercare/Halfords to see if they would fit it for us there and then so we can get another decision ticked off our list.

Thanks April, I'm sure I will be able to as it's 2 months away, more annoyed with myself for not checking before agreeing the date!

Surely changing bags don't have to be expensive? I've seen some for ridiculous prices- OH nearly fell over when told him that such things existed for such prices! Someone posted a link to a rucksack style one here yesterday (or perhaps on main pregnancy thread) which was about £20. I ain't gonna pay more than that.... I'll spend on car seat/ mattress that have to be right for safety.

Well, since it doesn't even need to be a 'changing bag', I'll be seeing if I already own something appropriate for that use before buying one!!

I'm suprised actually how little buying stuff secondhand has come up here - we are on a moneysaving forum after all! The only thing I'm intending to buy new is a car seat, for everything else I will be (after the scan) scouring gumtree/ebay/work colleagues and friends! Those Bounty 'offers' emails terrify me, as I wouldn't consider spending anywhere near those amounts of money on any of the things

No, of course they don't need to be as expensive - but you certainly can get them! I wouldn't pay that much for them either, but I did really, really like them :o

I think we might plump for a rucksack too (it's what I had been thinking before I saw the M&P ones), so I'll definitely check out that link, thanks!

My OH is really quite fussy when it comes to buying things; he knows what he likes and doesn't mind spending a bit more on something he knows he likes (tbf, nor do I). He wouldn't consider not buying new for baby!

This is the first bounty offer I've ever considered; mostly I think they're just not worth it. But we paid £699.95 and got the entire travel system (currently in M&P store for £549), the cotbed with changing topper (I won't use this, but OH thinks it will be handy for him) and drawer, and two little toys (a bouncer and a little sit-nest) as well. When I checked out the prices to buy everything individually, it didn't seem like such a bad price.

I seem to remember my daughter's cot being not that far away from £400 and it didn't have a changing topper or drawer - and that was 11 years ago :o God, that's depressing :rotfl:

I brought my whole travel/pram system second hand and will be borrowing our friends Isofix base. Also borrowing bath seat/lean from them and buying a second hand swing/chair thing and so far I've not brought anything at full price! I've been more MSE than I expected as originally I wanted everything new but have been pleasantly surprised by the good condition of many second hand items.
I've seen a changing bag that goes with our pram which is £89 but I'm currently keeping my eyes peeled for something similar but a bit cheaper.

Arbrighton - hope you get your appt changed, just put forgetting down to the start of baby brain ;)
I've seen Mothercare have 20% off on a few different areas, including if you spend £200 on furniture, just incase anyone's seen anything they want.
Has anyone claimed the free mum/baby packs you can get from different websites? I've had one so far and going to pick another two up once I've printed the vouchers off FREEBIES :D
Christmas is the most magical time of the year :santa2:

New I keep meaning too, I was in Boots last night aswell and as usual completely forgot. Going to make a conscious effort to pick them up this weekend. I think if you download the Bounty App you can just show them that, saves you having to remember to print the vouchers off.

I'm with Sweet you can definitely get second hand items, but with regards to car seats etc if I'm not buying from someone I know, I'd rather go buy new. That way I have the confidence in that the frame etc will be up to scratch and have nothing wrong with it, that and the full guarantee. I guess its just down to personal preference, most things if not everything we have bought will be used, and has been on sale for much less than the original price. Between that and having things bought for us from grandparents we aren't really overspending. Its just now instead of going out for food, we stick the money aside for baby stuff.

Newthrift, sadly I seem to have gone straight from depressionbrain to babybrain :(

I'm sure I wasn't meant to feel as knackered in the middle trimester. Maybe I'm expecting too much of myself

Is anyone looking at car seats and thinking where on earth do you start? I'm narrowing down the ones that can be put with the buggy we've chosen but even then there are so many choices. I have no idea which one to go for. Reviews seem to be similar across the board, and as with most things peoples preference comes into play on why they do/don't like a certain one. I think I'll get a trial for Which and see what they say but I am stumped.

Spent hours / days on this. Whether to go i-size or the existing R44. On basis i-size seats have a premium price and R44 have served millions of kids with no issues - i went R44.

Maxi-Cosi came out best for me. And i wanted the Pebble baby seat with Familyfix Isofix Base. Bonus is the toddler seat - The Pearl works with same base - so i only needed to buy one Isofix Base.

Babies R us came out tops - £159.99 for the Pebble Baby Seat, £174.99 for the Isofix Base and £184.99 for the Pearl Toddler seat - however they are doing a bundle price of the whole lot for £350.00 - saving almost £170.00.

Tested the whole lot in car before purchasing and so easy. Familyfix base also has alarms to tell you if the Isofix Connection, the front leg stand or the actual seat isn't in place correctly.

Pebble now waiting for it's occupant and the Pearl up the loft for when it's needed.
