Pyschopathbabble there are many types of aches and pains you can get in pregnancy, particularly in the pelvis and hip area. You can get sciatica which isn't common but possible. Then there's issues caused with the relaxin hormone loosening your ligaments and pelvis, so while PGP including SPD is common near the end some women like myself get it really early and suffer throughout the pregnancy. I had to have pyhsio and wear a belt to stabilise my pelvis for half the pregnancy last time, plus it really affected my mobility. Then the hormone can also affect your hips and overdoing things can lead you to over-stretching ligaments because they give more than normal.
The relaxin hormone, I think, stays in your body until after the birth or you finish breastfeeding (same as the hormone that gives you the line down your bump). So I got plantar fasciitis in both feet a few weeks after the birth last time. I thought it was just some pregnancy thing that would fade but it took exercises the GP gave me and weeks of ibuprofen to go.
Pregnancy is definitely not a time to physically over - exert yourself.Don't listen to me, I'm no expert!0 -
Thanks Kynthia, I'm hoping it just a one off pain rather than a sign of SPD coming along but I'll mention it to the midwifeBecame Mrs Scotland 16.01.16

I'm 20 weeks today and no sign of PGP yet, which is good as I noticed I was having trouble lifting my feet at the end of a tiring day at 18 weeks last time. Hopefully yours is just a random pregnancy pain that will go with rest.
My scan is tomorrow and we're hoping to find out the gender this time. We're taking my daughter to the scan as we have no childcare tomorrow so I just hope it goes okay. I'd hate her to witness anything upsetting.Don't listen to me, I'm no expert!0 -
Good luck Kynthia. I'm sure it'll be ok. How old is she? could she wait outside for the first few minutes until they have taken an initial look?Became Mrs Scotland 16.01.16

Good luck with the scan Kynthia!
I have absolutely nothing to report. 15+2 now and time seems to be dragging. I just want the 20 week scan to be here already! My bump had a wee growth spurt last week but I still don't look properly pg, I just look like I've gained some weight - boo! On the plus side I've had much less nausea, long may that continue! Still absolutely shattered all the time, waiting (im)patiently for this burst of energy I'm meant to have in the second trimester!

Hope the scan goes okay Kynthia! Pyschopathbabble's idea about your daughter waiting outside for a little while seems like a good one!
Nothing much to report here either, I feel like time is dragging all of a sudden after out first trimester flew by. We've got our private gender scan on Sunday which I am counting the days down to. The nausea seems to have calmed down a lot, but not disappeared completely (I was sick on a dog walk yesterday which wasn't great).
We're hoping to make a start on the nursery soon. We've sold the bed we had up in there so now it's not longer a functioning bedroom it's turned into a dumping ground and it's driving my crazy! Need to give the room a purpose again.
Any Next VIPers on here? I've just booked my VIP sale slot, lot's of lovely baby things at good prices!0 -
Midwife app was ok this morning but I was too early for a proper growth measurement. So going back on August 1st for my 26 week appointment... we are actually on annual leave though so DH can come with me to hear the heartbeat which he will be excited about!
She advised me to drink FOUR LITRES of water a day! I'm struggling to get through 2.5 most days! And the pain in my leg is down to general pregnancy pains apparently... so I guess I'll just have to keep an eye on it. I was also told to rest more, as if I'm 80 years old... so that's going to be fun! I suck at resting!Became Mrs Scotland 16.01.16Became homeowners 26.02.16

PP I am the same here, 14+3 and just waiting it out for my next apt - midwife at 16 weeks. This is such a strange inbetween time, so relieved all was well at the 12wk scan and feeling much better but now just keen to get to 20 weeks - everyone was right, the scans do just reassure for a day or two then its on to the next phase of worry!
Have tentatively been looking at some bits of furniture/prams. Is anyone going to the Baby & Toddler Show in October? Thinking of booking on to that but not sure how good the on the day discounts actually are?
I also enquired about NCT classes this week, I was told by a friend that they were really good for meeting other local Mums and were more personal/detailed than the NHS antenatal classes - does anyone have experience of NHS vs NCT ones? They are £180 for 18 hours here so want to get an idea if its worth paying for them or just doing the free ones.
Thanks all and hope everyone is well XxMancMama4 (35) TTC since Apr 15, MMC Dec 15, Our Rainbow Baby Charlie arrived Dec 16 :heart2:0 -
Hi MancMama and welcome
I haven't done my NCT classes yet but reviews online say they are the best way of meeting people... Not cheap but you make a group of friends who are in exactly the same situation at the same time. NHS ones are probably fine too, but one review I read just said that exchanging of details doesn't really happen. NCT is over a few weeks so at least you get to know each other too. I'm sure both classes are good, it's just your preference xBecame Mrs Scotland 16.01.16Became homeowners 26.02.16

We took DD1 when I was having my 5 y/o .. she was 16.. there was no issue even though the hospital say other relatives can go in to look after the initial checks are done and made sure baby is ok but she just came in with us.. and when having my 4y/o we took the older one as she was only 6 months old.. noone said anything then either. and with the littlest we took our 2 y/o and she too was no issue.. its a while for them to sit still though.. took about 45 minutes so we took snacks and drinks and the ipad..LB moment 10/06 Debt Free date 6/6/14Hope to be debt free until the day I dieMortgage-free Wannabee (05/08/30)6/6/14 £72,454.65 (5.65% int.)08/12/2023 £33602.00 (4.81% int.)0
