The nursery furniture I had my eye on is reduced in the Mothercare sale. Really struggling to resist but telling myself it's way too early to order.
Just order it.. they don't have to deliver right away.. their delivery times are ridiculous.. I ordered a wicker moses basket in the February and it took until mid-June to arrive..
Should anything unfortunate happen would you have another baby? If so it will get used eventually.. Plus it is quite handy having somewhere to stash all the baby purchases. You could maybe cancel the order without losing the money.. not sure how m/care cancellations work.LB moment 10/06 Debt Free date 6/6/14Hope to be debt free until the day I dieMortgage-free Wannabee (05/08/30)6/6/14 £72,454.65 (5.65% int.)08/12/2023 £33602.00 (4.81% int.)0 -
Just finished my order on mothercare - few more clothing bits for junior
My nursery furniture arrived this morning and is currently making my living room look like a warehouse!! I ordered it super early because it was just what I wanted and was a good price for the set - it's still available now though so I could have waited as it turned out, least it's one thing sorted out I suppose :rotfl:0 -
Had my anomaly scan yesterday - confirmed it is indeed a boy and everything looks good
Officially 20 weeks today woohoo! Still no movements being felt but judging by the scan yesterday he's dancing away in there :rotfl: My sister only felt hers move from about 24 weeks so I may have a while left yet of not being nudged, we shall see!

Great news ruby. My scan is only a week and a bit away.
I've been feeling loads of movements, every day now which is surprising as with my daughter it was only just about now tgat I felt her move for the first time. I think placenta location and amount of amniotic fluid make a big difference.
Mothercare sale at the moment but I only bought one baby grow for the new baby. It's R2D2 so I know OH will like it. Everything else is waiting for my anomaly scan.Don't listen to me, I'm no expert!0 -
Hi all
Glad the scan went well ruby and congrats on your baby boy!
So we went for another look at prams today and ended up paying a deposit on one! I'd really been in love with the Stokke crusi but they let us try it in the car boot and it was just too big. We could literally fit that in and nothing else! So we then tried every other pram in the shop and ended up with the mamas and papas armadillo flip xt. It's really lovely and a much better size. We got the pushchair, carrycot, car seat and loads of extras like change bag and parasol all for way less than the Stokke.
However, since I got home I've been panicking that we've done it too soon. I'm only 14 weeks and keep thinking we should have waited till after the next scan. OH keeps saying to stop thinking negatively but I can't help it!0 -
We ended up ordering the nursery furniture. I really hadn't planned on buying anything so early, but there was £350 off in the Mothercare sale, and also an extra 10% off in our local store for one day only, so it would have been silly not to get it. It won't be going up for a while (we're just about to start ripping the kitchen out) but it is something big ticked off the list.
I feel like you though Pink. I'm only 14+5 and slightly paranoid about getting things so early.0 -
When I first looked at prams, the lady in mothercare said that if for any reason you wouldn't need the items any more then they are usually pretty good at allowing returns. Also as someone else said, if the worst were to happen, it can be stored away for next time too.

I'm 14+2 Tinks so I'm in exactly the same boat! I feel much better about it today though, I think it was just a huge thing to buy the pram (not to mention huge cost!) and I'll probably go through the same again when we buy the furniture...although this may not be for some time as the stuff I like is £1200 and hubby is having none of it! haha!0

Hi all hope you all are well.
I have my 20 week scan tomorrow morning which hubby and I are really looking forward to. Over the past week I have felt loads of movements bit when with hubby's head on my tummy he still hasn't felt anything so he is looking forward to tomorrow probably more than me. We don't want to know what we are having so I hope baby behaves itself and not show us something we don't want to see lol.
We went into mothercare yesterday to have a mooch. While we are getting almost everything second hand off my sister, we have decided that we want to get a pram/travel system brand new. But I must admit it's all a bit overwhelming.House purchased November 2013
Original MF Date: January 2045 - £104,400
Current MF Date: April 2030- £48,719. 750 -
Hope the scan went well rachel!
Well, we're in a bit of a dilemma today. Mamas and Papas posted on their website that there's been a safety issue with the pram that we've just ordered from them. They've said it's all sorted for current or new orders so we won't be affected...but I can't help but worry. Some of the reviews have said that the pushchair part of the pram has spun right round with the baby still in it. Should we cancel?? Chances are they'll now have fixed this and our pram isn't being delivered til much closer to the time but it's a wee bit of a worry! I really don't want to go back to pram searching as I didn't see anything else I liked!
