  • Thanks ladies! I'll keep an eye on it. I've not scoffed my face full of pain Au chocolat yet which I've been dreaming about! Haha

Great news on your MW visit Gelly - my next scan is on the 20th - feels so far away!

Had my 22 Midwife appointment today. Blood pressure checked, blood taken for Anti D and she checked the babies heartbeat. 150pbm. Everything looking good.

We are getting our kitchen fitted this week and the downstairs is a bombsite. I can't face another takeaway!
  • My old stretch marks are looking less wrinkly and more "full" again now !!

I have put on about 18lb in 20 weeks, eating staves off the nausea and I have a fairly restricted diet as it is. Definitely put more on up to now than last time. I gained about 2.5 stone (4stone when heavily pregnant) and am already size 18/20 so could do without it but I really struggle to function with the nausea. Though I didn't need the danish pastry I had today I'll be honest :D

Lemon Tree - what type of test do you have every 4 weeks instead of the GTT? I really don't want it again!

Gelly - glad you've seen the midwife about the itching, definitley go back sooner if you aren't happy. I'm lucky with my GP, the maximum he will fob me off for is a week then he gets all all serious and orders scans and blood tests, not just for pregnancy, for anything I've been in with. Some of the others fob you off for weeks!

I've out on a stone already too... I'm 18 or 19 weeks.. I lost count..
my BMI was already high (Gelly you sound about the same proportions as me .. its not weeble it is love filled!).. but BMI is utterly relative.. muscle weighs more than fat so some of the worlds top athletes have a really high BMI and barely an ounce of fat on them.. it is a very very poor indicator of health.. unless of course you are aware you are a lardy pie chugger (ice cream and crisps here ;) )

I look at other aspects of my life.. I have never had high BP, I have never had any weight related problems, blood results are no more questionable than usual so why torture myself with an unpleasant and useless test I do not need. Noone in my family has diabetes of any kind other than my son who has a genetic factor from CF. Both CF's siblings have it.. his brother is T1 his enormous sister T2.

One of the first symptoms of diabetes.. weight loss!! ... I'll go see them when I hit 7 stone! hahaha. Increased thirst as a symptom isn't 'oh I need an extra drink a day' it is .... stuff your head under the tap and simply cannot stop drinking day and night.. I think we would all notice! .. excess peeing as a result of the above.. urine would contain glucose and ketones... they don't need to do blood tests unless both of these are present in urine.. if you don't have them you don't need the GTT. Excess tiredness, usually caused by 4000 night time loo runs so disturbed sleep.. and also related to the weight loss/excess glucose in blood which also makes you aggressive.

If I had these symptoms I would get it checked I have neither the time nor energy to waste sitting about in a germ riddled hospital listening to other people vomit and making myself feel unwell..

I haven't been weighed since 12 week scan and at that point I'd put on 2.5 pounds. I've hardly changed my diet tbh and not eaten any more than I usually do so can't see me putting on that much weight. It's not more eating I have to do its drinking. I am horrendous for spending most of the day dehydrated.

I have to use the blood sugar testing machine 4 times a day for a week at a time. The hardest thing is to remember to test one hour after food! Hello I'm pregnant - baby brain!!

My bmi is high, but they haven't weighed me since booking in. I lost 12 stone before I conceived my daughter and told them that though they will never be happy with what I weigh they can swing. Last time I gained 15lb in my whole pregnancy, this time at 24 weeks I've gained about 7-8lb. But I'm not eating as healthy this time

My blood pressure was 96\51 yesterday and is generally low like that, and they complain at me because my cholesterol is low including the good cholesterol which they want me to increase - umm no! I don't like the taste of oils etc so I'm not adding them to my diet just to please them.

cholesterol is one of the few things your body can make its own and it will regulate itself so the same way you can't really lower it you can't really raise it either.. the medical world don't think people can read and find this out for themselves!

:hello: Hi jtr glad the scan went well

I'm going to have a bit of a moan (sorry)

We've slowly started to tell friends/family of our pg and i'm getting a bit fed up of all the comments regarding the age gap. I have two sons who will be 14 & 11 when baby arrives and the amount of comments about us being mad and starting all over again etc... is starting to get on my nerves a bit. Stupid pg hormones are making me question (only for brief periods) that we are doing the right thing. Me and Dh have been together for 17 years and I was only 18 when we had DS1 so it's not like I'm too old it's just becoming annoying and I don't want to tell anyone else now :(

    Moan over ;)

I'm so hungry today already and its not even 9am. I've had two hot cross buns, porridge and an apple. I need to cellotape my mouth closed :o
