Is anyone going to, or have previously been to any of the baby shows? There's one in Manchester next month so grabbed a couple of ticked on groupon this morning but wondering now if they will be any good or any cheaper than stores/online?

We went to one at the NEC when I was expecting my DD in 2012. We found it really useful for comparing travel systems all in one place, we got a good deal on our Uppababy by ordering from the stand at the show, and picked up some good freebies and a couple of other good deals. I think we probably saved more than the cost of our tickets in the end.

    Hi all.

Well my blood pressure was 152/98 when I was at the midwife's. It dropped a little by the end of the appointment (140/84), but they still wanted me to go to the day assessment unit at the hospital. Whilst there, it dropped to 130/84 so they said I could go home and rest. I've to see midwife again next week and if it's still high, I'll be referred to gp for them to monitor and possibly prescribe blood pressure meds.

Midwife also listened to baby's heartbeat, which kept skipping a beat. She called it ectopic, but said it could be due to immaturity at this stage due and will likely resolve itself by 25 weeks. Trying not to freak out about it. Has anyone else had that before?

    Hi,

Found out on Friday that I am pregnant. Doc thinks already at least 20 weeks!

Literally just the last 2 weeks I've noticed anything but didn't think I was pregnant. Thought I had IBS or something.

Since Friday I feel even bigger, don't know if I actually am or just notice more but clothes definitely tighter and very obvious bump!

Filled out midwife referral form but told it could take up to 10 days just for a phone call so I've booked a private scan for tomorrow to try get more information. Terrified!
  • Hi euronorris -glad they are monitoring you. I haven't heard of that with the baby . A quick google around some message boards suggests that is does happen and no one seems to have reported any adverse symptoms long term once baby has arrived. I would be worrying too because I'm a natural worrier but the things I read briefly there would reassure me. Won't do your blood pressure any good worrying anyway!

Darksparkle - welcome! I wish I had found out at 20 weeks, would make the wait to 40 week so much quicker :) Is this your first baby? Congrats! Don't be terrified :) X

I can second LittleMoog and recommend the Uppababy Vista pram :)

My lungs are finally clear but getting quite breathless, may be because my lungs are now being squashed apparently.

Question -did you have bloods taken at 20 week scan?

I didn't have blood taken at 20 week scan but did at midwife appointment at 22 weeks. Only because of my negative blood type and had to check Anti D or something.

My daughter had it with my granddaughter.. it is often caused by antisickness medication. She was on 3 different lots from 8 weeks until she delivered. The issue resolved within a few days of birth.

Never.. I went had the scan and went home.. I never even saw a midwife it was simply the scan.

Bloods are booking, 28 and sometimes 36 weeks.. (they want me to have them monthly.. I politely declined)

    Hey guys

I know i shouldnt be in this forum but i dont know which one to move on to. Im 27 weeks and just a couple days ago i found out i have gestational diabetes. I cant stop crying and i am so scared. I do understand its my hormones but everytime i see my readings above 7.8 i just start crying and now really worried about my blood pressure too. My pregnancy has been so smooth up to now. Maybe im still in shock as im not overweight and have no family history either. I know being asian has a risk. I have a scan tomorrow (i pray everything is normal) and i have my 3hr appointment with dietician day after. I have been trying to search the web for the right things to eat but keep going round in circles:sad:
  • Thanks for the replies, my GP was sure I had blood taken but I wasn't so convinced. I will give the midwife a call on Friday if I don't get blood taken and ask her to do it as she has a surgery on Friday.

khal - try not to worry! a friend of mine had it and it caused absolutely no complications, they just induced her at 39 weeks. Her and her little one are fine.
