  • Rinroo - sorry to hear that!

I bet your two DC will be delighted to have a little baby in the family - there is 10 years a difference between me and my littlest sister and we get on nearly the best!

Next time someone asks I'd be telling them how marvallous it will be to have 2 extra pairs of hands for help washing the dishes and helping out with the baby! :)

Rin... Don't panic, I'll have 16 years between mine :rotfl:

    Ignore them, it's your choice!

Don't worry rinroo. there are 12 years between me and my eldest brother (there are another 3 siblings between us) and we get on like a house on fire. Always have done.

He's always looked out for me, and I always looked up to him, so I can't see anything wrong with it personally.

rinroo.. I have nearly 25 years between my oldest and the inhabitant.. and I have 4 grandchildren.. it is chuff all to do with anyone else and you can at least play the crazy hormonal lady card and tell them if they cannot be happy for you then you will just leave.. and get up to go..

Try starting with 'we have some really exciting happy news'.. (and if I hear a negative response I will slap someone because I'm sick of it)...'

I still haven't told anyone about mine.. not my mother nor any of OH's family.. only my 6 oldest and the partners of my 2 oldest.. it is nothing to do with anyone else and I can't be bothered with their negativity and rude comments.. my mouth might say something my head regrets one day (actually with one of the others my mother asked why I hadn't told her [I was 31 weeks at this point.. babe was born at 35] and I said because I cannot be !!!!!d with your attitude, you say no one told you how many children you could have then you have the gall to try to tell me.. well it works both ways!.. if you can't say something nice !!!!!!!)

My oldest was actually really pleased and genuinely excited

(and I'm 10 years older than you.. so if you're too old what the heck am I?? haha.. lots of people your age will just be having their first!.. at least you have cup of tea making hands for when you're busy)

Thanks for the lovely comments, I'm OK with the age gap I guess its just hormones which make me have a wobble now and again. I was just really excited and tbh a bit peeved off with some of the responses.

Work officially know as from this morning, good job really as I seem to have popped more than a bit of a belly today. Damn those really poor stomach muscles :rotfl:

    Hope everyone else is OK.
  • welcome jtr, great to see you over here.

rin- it is nobodys business what age gap there is between your children, at least you will have extra help when the little one is here.

Just got my next appt date for the 21st March (I will be just over 26 weeks then) what happens at this appointment? do I need to prepare myself for more needles?

This little boy has been going crazy inside me, he is kicking like mad, my friend even commented today as she could see my belly moving!!! Strange but such a comforting feeling.

  • Skint - from memory, its similar to the 16 week appointment. I don't remember having blood taken but someone else may be able to remember more clearly?

We see the midwife less often when its a second or subsequent baby so no appointments until 28 weeks after my scan. One week until the scan. It has come around so quickly!

I think the next blood tests are at 28 weeks when you can also have your whooping cough vaccination to protect the baby when it's born

Well my OH is a charmer today.. apparently I am 'not attractive' when I am pregnant (I told him he should have kept it in his pants then!) and I am also a total cow when I am inhabited.. I may have to concede that one.. everything and everyone is so utterly annoying.

I got a letter through for a consultant appointment.. for once I genuinely cannot make that time.. I usually just cancel with the reason 'I don't want to come'

hahaha.. my sister has just asked if I'm pg.. replying avoided like a champ! .. I'd make a bloody good politician!!

  • Puked up my toast this morning - hope this isn't the start of morning sickness. I've done a lot this weekend so I'm hoping that it's just catching up with me - reminder to self to slow down.
