    Xmas Saver!
Ettenna - we had one of those itu books to look at, I found it really helpful as it put some things into perspective.

We were told it can take anything upto 18 mths to recover from an Itu stay.

Also got to totally agree the pjs, - dad was a week in itu, 1 ngt in hdu, then nearly 3 weeks on ward, he was given a illestomy, and the mess in the pjs, wasn't is fault, but when your taking out 3 to 4 hrs travelling, even getting a load of washing on seemed like a marathon event,

Its taking 1 day at a time, xxx
xx rip dad... we had our ups and downs but we’re always be family xx

I am hoping to hear that both you and OH have had a better night and that he is progressing well.
I'm also hoping that the pressure for updates has eased a little and that friends and relatives will understand that they are not the priority at the moment, nor are we for that matter.

Morning, went to bed last night at 8.30, it is all about seeing if the internal injuries heal otherwise operation or epidural or induced coma, there is a lot of things bandied around at the moment.

I do agree he is in the best place, they are doing a fantastic job, they keep coming back to the relatives room and letting us know what next.

We were in the relatives room when another family were told their relative had passed away and youngest was so freaked out he could not stand up so I had to move him out, in the corridor a covered coffin box was being wheeled along youngest knows what is happening, how serious it is.

youngest at school and eldest at work, trying to keep it as normal as possible, people have stopped talking to me about xmas which is good.

I have a few people I am in charge of keeping up to date , in laws others and eldest others so that is some sort of help and less repetative.

OH was out of it with the meds, docs said he was very aggresive and screaming, to be expected. He kept asking where he was and what was happening.

mum2one thank you beyond words for your post.

We have had the wires explained, a booklet given which everyone has read here in the house including youngest who asked the nurse a lot of questions.

Some friends/neighbours/family/acquaintances have mumbled a platitude and never seen again, others that I barely know have been knocking the door down to help.

Nan is taking over the cooking, grandad is practical, a listener and an observer, youngest desperate to get back to school and in with his mates and is hoping his dad will be back when he gets back but that has been explained to him.

Eldest has gone into his shell, people just take it as they can.

Everything has imploded, nothing is the same.

Thank you, OH still critical but serious and lots of decisions to make, operatons, induced coma, time, everyone is giving time as the internal healing but he has problems with his lungs and severe breathing problems

I have said I am contacting x amount, nan is doing x, grandad x and eldest x amount,

We spent the most time outside away from OH in the relatives room, every single doctor, nurse, consultant, was there around his bed, deciding what to do and keep telling us what they think could happen then they change their minds and think something else then an operation so he can breathe, we are going in again today obviously

I went to bed at 8.30 and lay there until 12.30 then must have slept a bit, I woke up with such a start, then sleep again, then up to get youngest off to school, the look in his eyes is very begging, very mum when I get back from school dad will be here but he won't be, I explained he won't be, the hospital were saying 4 weeks or 6 weeks or an operation or induced coma or lots of different things it changes so often it hard to keep up

Will be thinking of you as I know so many others will. Try to take it easy as much as you can and remember to eat and drink although I'm sure it's the last thing you feel like doing. Lots of love xxx

I do so hope that one of the family is keeping a note of what the doctors are saying, a diary if you like so that you can explain to OH when he is fully alert again.

I know that athough I was only out of it for a day after an operation, I felt like I had lost a whole week as nobody that I trusted would tell me what happened.

Victory you are doing so well staying strong.

ICU is such a disorientating place. Remember to eat, drink & sleep even if you don't want to.

Thoughts & prayers with you love xx
