Can I use it to find my way around on foot and, if so, is there something I should install (or adjust) on it?0
-
In the set-up/preferences/mode menu you select whether you are in a car, on a bicycle, or on foot.
It doesn't make much difference to the navigation instructions - but of course it doesn't instruct you to walk or cycle along a motorway.
It's the Estimated Time of Arrival that you see the difference in.
I often use the 'foot' mode in a strange or unfamiliar city - it's extremely handy.
Just don't forget to change the settings back when you return to your car. LOL0 -

Yes cash is fine at the manned pumps like over here, except you drive over to the small hut to pay.
Good luck with the trip.0 -
Do I understand correctly, that there's a way to get it to show me where traffic congestion is on a route, before setting off?
If so, how do I do it?0 -
What surprised me is the motorways are free in the UK while they cost a fortune in France.
Talk about Ripoff France.
Publicly owned motorways in both France and the UK are free.
It's only the privately owned ones that have tolls - like the M6-Toll.
It's just that France has more of them.
We resisted Thatcherism on the roads - they embraced it.0 -

Yours will be much newer and more sophisticated than mine - but this is how mine works:
If at any time on a journey the traffic congestion icon comes on, with a number of minutes delay below it - all you do is touch the icon and the location of the delay(s) is listed.
If there is no icon then I have no way of 'forcing' the thing to tell me about delays.
If I have input a long route (a couple of hundred miles for example) then often the delay/congestion is so far away that it will be cleared up and traffic flowing normally by the time I get there.
The basic route planning and inputs are easy enough but I had to download the handbook/user manual for mine and spend an evening reading up on how the extra features are accessed.0 -
Is it possible to back up my favourites to the micro SD card, so I can store a copy of them on my PC/Laptop/external HDD, etc.?0

It's all done automatically - if you register here:
https://my.garmin.com/mygarmin/login.htm?service=https%3A%2F%2Fmy.garmin.com%2Fmygarmin%2Fcustomers%2FmyGarminHome.faces
Everything is backed-up to your PC or lap-top every time you connect your Garmin and log in to myGarmin.
The other essential (essential in my opinion anyway) thing to do is install Garmin Express:

OK, it's installed.
What happens if I have to replace my Satvnav?
How do I put my Favourites onto the new one?The other essential (essential in my opinion anyway) thing to do is install Garmin Express:
I've already installed that one. It's what I used to install the updated maps and voices.0
