An update -finally the EON online account appears to be fully operational:T

OVO still haven't finalised the leccy account so (hopefully:)) the final leccy reading is "in the post" from EON to OVO - I need the credit back to pay the Xmas bills:rotfl:

Would have to say things do not appear to be going very smoothly.
I have given meter readings for both gas and electric about 3 times now but yet another request by text today for a gas reading. All interspersed with various website messages saying they can't accept these readings etc etc.

This despite a lengthy conversation on the 17th with an EON rep who assured me everything was sorted and the changeover was happening that day i.e. the 17th.

I was with EON before having switched from SSE and the changeoever was a complete disaster. We ended up with a horrific gas bill because of a cockup at their end which resulted in them applying payments only to the electricity account rather than both electric and gas.

I really was hoping this would be a nice smooth change over but it looks like I'm going to be disappointed.

EDF whom I am changing from have helped themselves to an extra £69 by direct debit despite the account being in credit by nearly £300. Have now cancelled the DD just in case they try again !

Honestly starting to think "was it worth it ?" :(:(:(

Yes my readings are now showing and correct too.
Just waiting for EDF to come up with my refund now
  • So having been told Nemeisha would diarise to call me on 23rd December in an agreed 2 hour slot, to get my gas reading, I have had an email saying my gas reading is required by 30th December. I have signed on to my account and it says the gas reading is still required by 23rd!

As said previously I supplied the leccy reading on 12th December and was told that they had everything from my current supplier and it should start shortly. Now the on line account says I have to supply that reading on 19th.

Perhaps I should read both meters daily.

My expiry date for both gas and electricity is 11th December.

I read both meters yesterday and tried the online meter reading. It seemed to work but knowing that contributors to this thread said it didn't I called today to supply the electricity reading again and was told the account has been live since 12th! Also the most helpful lady said that she could see I had input a gas reading online yesterday and they would use that as my opening gas reading which would commence on 23rd. Wonder if they will still call on 23rd for a meter reading.

Also she said the direct debit was set up to commence in February! Also I had already checked my bank account on line and the direct debit is not showing.

Think I will leave it up to them for a while.

I think EON have unfortunately lost the services of the Chuckle Brothers and have now drafted in Timmy Mallet to smooth over this cack-handed affair. Why else would switchover customers (if I ever get that far) receive unauthorised phone calls on a Saturday morning, from a marketing company I've never heard of, from a withheld phone number wanting to do a, "three minute questionnaire on behalf of EON"?
  • I am beginning to wonder if this switch will ever happen :(

Got my 'welcome' letter about 3 weeks ago. Since then nothing & no account details.

Switch has taken 7 weeks & counting so far. I really thought it would have been completed by now .
  • This is the latest email from EON

We have had some problems with our opening meter readings, but this is now sorted. Just so you know, we have the Gas readings and that part of your account is now live.

We are waiting for the Electric to go live and we have sent all the details over to your old supplier and once they have agreed to the reading we have supplied, they will issue you with their final bill.
    "

This despite being told that the electric side was up and running over 2 weeks ago.

Slowing loosing heart here ! :(

    Assuming 16,500/3,300kWh consumption.

As the oil price plummets, and even cheaper tariffs appear, what are you going to do? Pay the penalty and switch again?

The Co-Op Fair & Square Feb 2016 is showing on Moneysupermarket.com as £46 cheaper.

The Scottish Power January 2016 Fix is roughly the same as the E.On CEC switch, including the £30 cashback, at £1,039. I think a sub-£1,000 quote is about two months away, just by staying put with Scottish Power.

The next cheapest E.On tariff to switch to is currently Fixed 1 Year V13, which is £192 more.

This means the next switch must be AWAY from E.On,
unless CEC somehow manages to persuade E.On to buy its own customers.

Enjoy the same fun and games next move in December 2015.

    I agree with the above.

Bizarrely, now is probably not a good time for me to switch. My current fixed tariff runs until next May. A small saving could be made by switching away now, but the signs are that a bigger saving could be made later...

@ victor2 -I was virtually on the same timescale ie OVO fix ended 29th April - but I decided to switch because the savings between now and April were enuf to more than cover the penalty of switching without the MSE bung... ..and the EON penalty is only £10 so can use another paid for switch in the Spring if the prices continue to decline.Interestingly the SP & COOP fixes are actually more expensive for me than EON still.
