    Morning SteveN

Just posted a reply to the separate thread you started about this. It's at the link below.

My post numbers 58 and 68 above might also help.

    Hope this is of interest.

It appears all is well, if you call and get through they will confirm some of the details you have already supplied (multiple times), even though they may or may not actually show up on your online account. It appears that the Chuckle Brothers have been drafted in and everyone can be confident, despite the disparity on online information, multiplicity of requests for readings, and random, on their part, of which information they choose to act on, it will be alright on the night.
    I'm convinced.
  • You can add me to the list of dissatisfied customers. I have only switched once before. It went so badly that it ended up with the ombudsman and I returned to my original supplier vowing never to move again. Well that was many years ago and I thought things must have improved by now. How duped I was!
I have had so many commencement dates I have no idea where I am. I have been starting supply from 12th, 19th and 23rd. I read this thread and decided not to bother with online meter readings. I called on 12th and gave my meter readings as requested by email. Nemeisha confirmed that they had heard from SSE about the electricity but not the gas. However could not say when either would start but she intends to call me on 23rd December in a stated 2 hour window to get my gas meter reading and serial number. Perhaps my gas will start then and the electricity will start when it feels like it. On the 12th I was told it would start soon.On signing on to my online account there are no meter readings. From this thread I did not expect any but it states my deal ends on 11th December 2015. How can it expire then? I have not started yet.

Given there was likely to be a "lively" response to the deal surely EON should have been better prepared.
There are lessons to be learned all round here.

Well, things have moved a little bit further on with EON -my initial reads for both eleccy and gas are now showing on the website:T -altho' its still saying that the account is in the process of being set up.
OVO still haven't rec'd the leccy figure altho' hopefully it is now somewhere in the process.

A question for Malc/Amy - if the account is still not properly set up by Jan. 1st -what happens to my first DD payment? - Will it still happen ? and will it be for the full amount??
  • Morning brewerdave

If you've set up the Monthly Direct Debit, the full amount will be collected on the agreed date. We recommend this date is set so no payments are missed and there are 12 equal payments up to the annual review.

From what you've posted previously, I suspect we're now supplying you even though the website isn't saying the account is live. Bills will start from the readings you've given.

Should it turn out you've paid too much or too little, you can make your own changes through the 'Direct Debit Manager' on our website.

Provided the account is billed up to the latest meter readings, payments can be changed by up to 20 per cent up or down. By up to 5 per cent up or down without readings.

As well as correcting any discrepancies this tool comes in handy should circumstances change.

Before confirming the new payment, we'll let you know by how much we anticipate the account will be in credit/debit by the time of the annual review if the change is confirmed but usage doesn't alter accordingly.

    Hope this helps brewerdave.

  • So having been told Nemeisha would diarise to call me on 23rd December in an agreed 2 hour slot, to get my gas reading, I have had an email saying my gas reading is required by 30th December. I have signed on to my account and it says the gas reading is still required by 23rd!

As said previously I supplied the leccy reading on 12th December and was told that they had everything from my current supplier and it should start shortly. Now the on line account says I have to supply that reading on 19th.

Perhaps I should read both meters daily.

My expiry date for both gas and electricity is 11th December.
  • I have been advised that my account has been live with eon since 03/12 and that they have my meter readings (even though it says online that the account is still in the process of being set up).

But, my previous supplier say they only received the final Gas and not Electricity so my account is still live there too. When I rang eon, the rep said it can take 6 weeks for the computer systems to talk to each other! He advised me to cancel my direct debit with SP to stop them taking the next payment but I thought that was the wrong thing to do? 7 weeks and counting.....

....I'm in a similar position - I'm giving it til Xmas Eve for the leccy reading to "turn up",then I'm cancelling the DD to the previous supplier OVO - otherwise its possible that they would take another £128 on Jan 2nd to add to the £360 they already have!!
I'm sure that will trigger a threatening letter from OVO ,EVEN THO' I switched on 4th December!!

Interesting wrinkle with my move from SP to EON (are they called that because it takes an age for anything to happen?). Just had a sales call (typical, noisy "contact" centre) with phone jockey asking me if I realised by moving supplier that I was going to increase my bills? When I pointed out I regularly called SP to ask if I was on the most beneficial tariff, he said the only reason my bills were high, was that their cheaper rates were being confused by their estimate only bills. They're not, I correct bills straight away with actual readings. Asking if SP would then be refunding this apparent overcharge just rebooted him to the start of his script. He then said he was doing his best for me as he was from the retentions team. He is, I checked the number, 02034764173.
Nothing like !!!!ing of a customer, especially one finally overcoming inertia and actually moving to a cheaper supplier to find out they have been getting overcharged for years. Well done SP, I won't be hurrying back.

Had pretty much the same phone call today at 4pm from SP. When I queried why I wasn't on their best tariff to start with and they were only coming up with it now I was moving, got some absolute rubbish about it being an online account so this was the first time they could do anything. Were really pushing for me to cancel with E.ON and stay with them but told them I was moving on principal. Kept pushing the fact that their unit price was cheaper and it took some digging on my part to find out their standard charge is more expensive. Also threw in the fact of the £30 cash back from E.ON...
